The Billionaire’s Song - Chapter 52 Step Outside
Maya’s POV
“Well it’s official. You’re having twins.” Dr Powell pointed at the screen.
“And it looks like a male and…a female.” She laughed.
I leaned back on the pillow and breathed a sigh of relief.Kyle smiled and gave me a quick kiss.
“That’s it. We’re done. No more babies after this.” I shook my head from side to side.
“That’s what they all say.” James chuckled.
“They mean it this time. We can’t go through this again. I won’t let my wife risk her life again.” Kyle gently squeezed my hand.
“Maybe the next one won’t be so complex.” Dr Powell said.
“I’m not going to take that chance, sorry.” I pursed my lips.
“I’m with you on that babe.” Kyle agreed.
“Okay, I think we’re done here. Kyle you can take your wife back to her room. I’ll stop by in a bit.”Dr Powell wiped the gel off Maya’s stomach and covered her up.
“Can I eat now?? I’m really starving.” I asked as Kyle placed me back on the bed.
“Sure babe. Fortunately, Jamie managed to drag our chef all the way from LA and he’s been preparing all our meals while we’ve been camping here.”
“You let Jamie sleep here too? Why?” I frowned. “He should have gone to the villa.”
“Well, to put your mind at rest I have been crashing at your villa.” James laughed. “Your husband kind of forced me at first and I couldn’t let it go to waste now could I?” He raised up his hands.
“That’s good then.” I settled back into bed.
“I’ll go to the kitchen and check on the chef. I’ll be right back.” Kyle turned and left.
“I’d like to do some sight-seeing though, once you’re up and about of cos. I heard you spent a couple of nights underwater.” James asked, intrigued.
“Yeah, it was the best experience like ever.”I elaborated more on the underwater villa.
“I wish Rita was here and then we could all go together.” James said wistfully.
“Well it seems like you’re in luck.” I smiled.
“What?” He asked, confused.
“Turn around.” I said calmly.
He turned and saw Rita standing at the doorway. The chair toppled over as he rushed to her.
“Surprise!” She laughed as he swooped her into his arms and hugged her tightly.
“Hie honey.I didn’t know you were coming. Why didn’t you say?” He asked.
“Surprise?” I said.
“You were in on this?” He gave me an accusing look.
“We all were dude. Get over it.” Kyle brushed past him.
“Dinner is served wife.” Kyle placed the tray on the bed and stared to feed me as usual.
“Hey My-My. I was so worried about you.” Rita walked over and hugged me.
“I’m okay. How’s Dad?” I asked.
“He’s much better. We didn’t tell him about your condition though cos we didn’t want to trigger another attack. Sorry.”She rubbed my arm.
“Baby, can you please ask the chef to make me a fruit salad instead? I think I’ve had enough cottage pie for today.” I asked Kyle.
“You’ve hardly eaten anything babe but okay I’ll get it for you.” Kyle picked up the tray and went back to the kitchen.
” How’s Maddie?” I asked Rita.
“She’s great. I left her with Mum and Dad in Dallas.Remember Mrs Wilson, their neighbor? Well she came over with her many grand-kids so Maddie was glad to see other children.” She said.
“Rita..Please get the doctor I don’t feel so good.” My monitors went off and Rita rushed to get help.
“Babe-what is it?” Kyle rushed to my side along with the nurses.
“Mr Kinley please step out side.” Dr Powell said.
“Can you all please step outside and let us help her?” Dr Brandt said firmly as he led us outside.
“Maya! What’s happening?!” Rita screamed hysterically.
“Kyle help me-” My body started to jerk as I got another seizure.

KYLE’S POV
Hours passed and the waiting was absolute torture. Dr Powell came by briefly to advise us that they had moved Maya to the ICU and they were still trying to stabilize her. She would come and update us if anything changed but so far there was no sign of her or Dr Brandt.
I kept seeing Maya’s face in my mind, over and over again. I kept hearing her voice crying out for help. I hated being so helpless and seeing Maya so fragile, suffering and in unimaginable pain.
Rita was whimpering in the corner as she rocked her body back and forth. James had his arm around her, trying to comfort her, his eyes brimming with unshed tears.
“Let me get us some coffee.” James said and left the waiting room. Rita stood up and came to sit with me.
“We need to be strong okay? She needs us to be strong.” I squeezed her and she put her head on my shoulder and wiped her tears.
“I know..but it’s just so hard..seeing her like that.” She broke down again.
“I think I’m going to take a walk.” Istood up and left the room. I needed to get some air or something. Sitting around and waiting was killing me. I was on the verge of insanity.
“Hey, where you rushing to?” James ran after me.
“I need to get some air.” I called out without stopping.
“Wait up.” He caught up with me as I walked out the door and into the parking lot.
We walked over to a bench and sat down in silence, both of us caught up in our own thoughts.
“She has to pull through Jamie-I don’t think I will handle it if she-” I leaned back and pulled at my hair.
“Don’t even think like that okay?” He reprimanded me. “She’s going to make it and she’s going to have those beautiful babies and when you look back on this day it will just be a memory. She will be fine okay? She has to be.”
I looked up and saw Rita hurrying towards us.
“Kyle, Dr Powell wants to see you urgently. She’s in Maya’s room. Let’s go.”
