The Blue Eyes - Chapter 287
“Do you take this man to be your husband? To live together in sadness and happiness, to love him, to honor him, to comfort him…”
The blue ocean became the witness, the sound of waves became the soundtrack, and the owner of several pairs of eyes became the ones who gave a blessing.
“…to stay by his side in sickness and in health, and only let the death to separate you from each other?”
The priest was asking the two grooms to vow. Glancing at the two tall men before him, he could see how solemn their expressions were.
The two grooms were staring into each other’s eyes deeply while holding hands tightly. The black tuxedos wrapped their toned body, the bow ties circled their slender necks, and a smile full of love plastered on their faces.
The taller man gave a light squeeze to the shorter man’s hand before responding to the priest, “I do.”
Not even tiny hesitation displayed on his face when he uttered the words. Even his hazel eyes not even once left the blue ones when he made a vow, indicating that he was being truthful with his words.
The shorter man felt his heart blossom because of the love that showered him. No one would be able to give him greater love than the man who was currently waiting for his response.
Not wanting to make his other half wait for too long, with a wider smile on his face, he made his vow, “I do.”
It felt like the ocean danced more energetically when the two men finished making vows to each other. The wave wanted to congratulate the two men, so it ran further to the beach, grazing the white sand that also glimmered under the friendly sun.
Even the flock of birds flew to the sky while chirping joyfully as if celebrating the completion of the marriage ritual. The song of the bird was accompanying the melody created by the ocean.
“Now you two are husband and husband,” the priest made a final declaration, and the audience shed tears when the two grooms were finally connected by the legal marriage.
It was not easy for the two men to finally able to reach their dream. Kris officially proposed to Kevin three months ago, but the werewolf war didn’t let them get married right away.
Thankfully, Calenta managed to claim the victory after the rebels admitted their defeat, and the country could have peace once again.
Derek Dawson, Felix Smith, and Jaden Dunn were in prison now, and other betrayers of the country were also sent to jail.
It turned out Steve was telling the truth. Some important figures in Calenta were indeed helping Derek Dawson in the dark.
Everything went smoothly once again, and Kris couldn’t wait for the marriage anymore as he urged his soulmate to prepare for the marriage soon.
With the help from Kevin’s adoptive parents and their friends, they finally could hold the marriage on this island in the sixth month of the year.
It was the island where Mike Allaband used to live. It was also the island where the Beischel couple and Mike had their tragic ending. Yes, it was the nameless island far from the city that held so many memories.
Kevin was the one who chose the island to be the venue for their marriage. Kevin originally loved nature, and the island was a remarkable island for him. Even if he lost his parents on the island, but he was also getting closer to Kris on the island.
“Now you can put the rings on each other’s finger,” the priest spoke again, but when he signaled the groom maids to bring the rings to the platform, no one moved from their spots.
The priest furrowed his brows in confusion, but then Kris explained, “Most people used rings when they got married because necklaces resemble the collars for dogs, while bracelets resemble handcuffs for the criminals. But for us, rings were not different from those two. We can say that a ring is a smaller version of a handcuff, and it’s only a symbol of ownership.”
The priest was speechless, and the audience couldn’t make any sound either. They didn’t know what the grooms were planning, but they only knew that the two grooms said that they didn’t need rings for their marriage.
Kris sounded so earnest when he uttered the words, but Kevin shifted his gaze away from his husband as if he didn’t want to listen to the continuation of the speech.
“Rings are just a symbol of ownership, but what if the ring goes missing? Will the relationship come to an end?” Kris continued his speech confidently. “That’s why I and Kevin decided not to wear rings to tie our relationship―”
“It’s your decision,” Kevin suddenly cut the speech, making the taller man widen his eyes at him. His face reddened, and they all knew that the young scientist was embarrassed.
“We’ve agreed, darling,” Kris reasoned, and the way he called his husband was enough to make the husband blush harder. Chuckling in amusement, Kris then continued, “That’s why we decided to wear the couple outfits instead. I’ve ordered tons of outfits with our names embroidered on them, and we can wear those outfits every day to show that we already have each other.”
Really. Kevin wanted to slap his forehead when he heard the nonsense escape his husband’s lips. Even the audiences stared at the tanned man in disbelief, and Jack even responded to the ridiculous speech with an ‘ew.’
Kris was talking rubbish, but Kevin still pulled the corner of his lips in the end. That was just nonsense coming out from Kris, but there was a real reason behind their decision to not wear rings as symbols for their marriage.
There beneath the thin gloves worn by the two grooms, permanent tattoos circled their ring fingers. Kris knew a tattoo artist, and he asked the artist to design a ring-shaped tattoo made of their name. It was a permanent tattoo, and both of them wouldn’t lose it no matter what.
They had each other now, and even the tattoos showed their possession. No one would be able to separate them starting from today.
“Stop talking nonsense and just kiss already!” It was Jack again who dared to speak aside from the two grooms.
Aside from Jack, their family and their friends were there as well. The Lowells couple, Blue, Julia along with her baby boy, Grace and her little family, Luke, Casper, Anna, AZURE and its clones, and even the tavern lady they met in Rodein was there as well.
Kevin and Kris had visited the lady in the name of the government, and they gave the lady compensation for her husband and son’s death. The one who smuggled the weapons eighteen years ago was Derek Dawson, but when the government smelt something fishy in Rodein, Derek instructed his men to explore the ship to eliminate the proof. That was why the government decided to pay for the compensation.
Kevin and Kris felt complete now. Everything went back to normal again, and they even had each other under the legal marriage law.
It was such a beautiful day for them, and with a loving smile on his face, Kris brought his face closer to his husband’s. He kissed his husband chastely to seal their marriage. Kevin smiled as well, and he would treasure this moment for the rest of his life.
“That’s enough! Now it’s time to throw your flower bucket, Kevin!” Again, Jack dared to interrupt the warm moment, forcing Kris and Kevin to separate from each other and glaring at him immediately.
Blue chuckled when he saw the two grooms’ reaction, but she still went up to the platform and handed over Kevin’s flower bucket to the owner. Kevin accepted it, and Blue climbed down the platform again.
“Alright, single ladies. You can position yourselves in front of the platform before I can throw the flower bucket,” Kevin spoke as he glanced at the group of people.
He and Kris only invited their family and friends, so the number of the guests was so little. Kevin eyed Julia, but the lady who had just given birth to her son shook her head firmly. The only one who was confident to step forward was Anna, but she didn’t come alone as she dragged Blue with her.
There were only two girls, and it didn’t look fun at all. But, Jack suddenly pushed Casper so that the young soldier now standing with the two girls in front of the platform.
The audiences laughed in amusement when they saw Casper’s reaction, but Kevin paid no heed to the reaction as he immediately turned around and threw the flower bucket without looking at the back.
Surprisingly, it was Casper who managed to get the bucket. Jack looked so excited as he shouted, “DON’T FORGET TO ATTEND TO OUR WEDDING NEXT YEAR!”
