- Chapter 46:The Substance of an Elfagos' Body
“It was like being sucked in a vacuum cleaner, which gave off some dark glow and then a soft, light puff at the end.” The impression that Lia had, and it felt like everything went by very quickly, faster than the blink of an eye and a heartbeat.
The new sensation was amazing, but also managed to make her nauseous.
Lia staggered, hands supporting her dizzy head. Her stomach started to churn, but she was lucky that her mouth didn’t let out anything but belch.
She glanced slightly at Hamdi, expecting something. As a question, “Oh, are you okay? Are you nauseous? It’s a common sensation for people when they are teleporting for the first time.” But Lia didn’t get anything, except the trembling that appeared at the end of Hamdi’s breath.
Even in a normal situation, Hamdi would never have noticed such a trivial thing. For the Elfagos, teleporting was a very common thing, as common as walking on the sand with bare feet.
The soft grains of sand would gently brush against the soles of the feet, making them feel several different surfaces, but that wasn’t surprising at all, was it? They were comfortable and didn’t notice any reaction at all.
“Please help me to lay Prince Aerus down.” Hamdi stumbled, bending his body quite clearly. The weight of Prince Aerus’ body pressed against him quite hard.
The very bright plane had given Lia space to see a new sight on Hamdi’s face, which was sweaty and exhausted. Usually, Hamdi would always look majestic, almost as majestic as Prince Aerus.
“Are you going to take him to teleport to your planet?” Lia asked, as her hand caught some parts of Prince Aerus’ body and positioned it comfortably.
Now Prince Aerus looked like a dying hospital patient. His face grew paler, and several bruises appeared on the lower layers of his skin, popping out and forming a rough pattern that was quite alarming.
“I can not. We can’t teleport over that long distance. We have limits.” Hands wiping sweat, Hamdi had lost his focus. Forgetting something, he grimaced and cursed.
“Ok, so what are you going to do with him? You have medicine for him, right? What happened to him? Was he okay when he was with you?”
Hamdi did not have time to answer all of Lia’s questions. Instead, he rushed to the first aid kit in the back corner of the plane’s cabin. Carrying all of them, he opened the box and revealed several pills of various colors. The box was like a treasure box, which held the most precious treasure in Hexa, namely the safety of their prince.
There were a lot of pills in that box. Hamdi knew its use, but he didn’t quite know which pill to give to Prince Aerus. He was just a pilot, who understood no more than 10% of medical knowledge in Hexa.
“There is a problem?” Lia asked again, abandoning Prince Aerus who was drooping even weaker. Sweat didn’t even wet his body, even though his body was wet with excretory fluid just a moment ago. Bad sign.
“I don’t know which pill to give Prince Aerus. From the signs, it seems Prince Aerus has an allergy.”
“Allergy?” Lia almost snapped, in the middle of her shrill voice. She just couldn’t believe it, because allergies didn’t seem like they would have such a terrible effect. “Impossible. If it’s allergies, maybe he’ll just have itching, a rash on the skin, or maybe shortness of breath.”
“We are not human, Lia.” Hamdi’s words made Lia stunned. “I know Elfagoses’ allergies vary, and I think Prince Aerus has had a very extreme effect. He could have vomited blood when his condition was critical. And if that happened, it would be impossible to save him.”
“Then what are you doing? Do something right away!” Lia’s face began to worry. She rushed over to Prince Aerus and hugged his body, slapping him on the cheek and forcing him to wake up. “Wake up! Open your eyes!” Lia’s emphasis only ended in vain.
Hamdi was cornered. His hands quickly moved to strip off the top that was attached to Prince Aerus’s body. The dark color of the cloth became even darker as if it swallowed the Prince’s soul. The buttons of his sturdy shirt, like an heirloom, collided with other rubbing forces.
Stunned, Hamdi finally realized something. His fingers brushed the buttons of Prince Aerus’ royal shirt, noticing the lumps and density. “Is there anything in the room where you slept? The old and also the holy? Usually something with protective energy, or maybe some kind of magical power?”
Lia frowned, almost cursing at Hamdi. During chaos and emergencies like this, he shouldn’t be discussing useless things. Still maintaining a fierce expression, at the end of her guess Lia realized something. “There is. My friend has a keris, an heirloom handed down by her family. That thing does have some kind of power, for those who believe.”
“Stay here for a while! I’ll check in a bit to make sure.”
Before Lia had time to respond, her curly eyelashes had stiffened when she saw Hamdi who had disappeared. Thin lips that gaped, and a confused and worried face.
Hamdi shouldn’t have left Lia in this condition, especially Prince Aerus who started coughing and convulsing again. Starting to cry, Lia even forgot the drowsiness that had hit her. Now her head was only filled with Prince Aerus, and how to keep him from dying.
“Yes, I see.”
Lia jumped in surprise, looking up with very messy hair. Her skin pores were wet, filled with sweat. “What?” Her tone sounded more like a protest rather than a questioning tone.
“That heirloom. It is small like a knife. There’s a lot of energy there. Damn, why didn’t I notice?” Hamdi grumbled to himself. He reached for the first aid kit again, then took out a blue pill. In the center of the pill was a vortex, like water, bubbling like the universe was spinning.
“What happened? What’s wrong with Cindy’s keris?” Lia helped Hamdi to put a pill into Prince Aerus’ mouth. Her hand gently opened the prince’s mouth and then supported it for a while. After confirming that all the pills had been swallowed, Lia put Prince Aerus’ head back in a comfortable position.
“Some Elfagosed have a weakness for foreign energies. The energy was created for protection, usually placed on objects in the form of remnants from ancient artifacts, and things like that. It wasn’t that Prince Aerus was some kind of demon and so on, but the substance in his body was indeed very different, almost like nothingness. So it creates quite a lot of friction.”
