The Buggiest System V1 - Chapter 111 Ordering a Vanilla Latte
Zhou Lei walked out of the arcade as he let out a sigh. He didn’t really enjoy playing Dance Dance Revolution at first.
When Lin Hanying taught him how to get better at the game, he thought that he learned how to gain pleasure from the game as well.
Now, he found out that the game didn’t get fun at all, it was only fun when she was around.
“What a bummer…” Zhou Lei strolled off with a low mood.
As he looked around the mall, he wondered what else he could do in this place. After all, he was already here.
His eyes landed on a particular café.
I wonder what coffee tastes like… This youth had never even thought off drinking coffee before as they were too expensive for him to even think about buying.
Now that he had some reserve in System, he made his way towards the café.
As he opened the door, the aroma of coffee assaulted his nose. He felt like he was getting lifted up from his bad mood…
Zhou Lei’s flat expression gradually turned to a smile under the facemask.
He walked over to the cashier.
…..
Fan Xinyue had been waiting for an hour already but her anticipation was still at an all-time high. I have to seize this opportunity!
She tapped her feet cheerfully, her absent mind swinging her head along to the café’s music.
At that moment, a certain suspicious individual entered the café. With a violet hoodie and a blue disposable facemask, he looked like he was about to commit a crime…
Her body stiffened up. She closed her eyes to focus herself…
Why are so many incidents happening near me?
Fan Xinyue then opened her eyes, stood up from her seat, and got ready to attack, walking over to the suspicious person with a steady pace.
It was then that a sound entered her ears. Not just a sound, but a familiar sound. It was the kind of familiarity that gave her a sense of relaxation.
“I’ll have one… uhh… coffee, I guess?” Zhou Lei realized that he had no idea how to order coffee.
“Which coffee, sir?” The cashier in front of him receiving his orders was pleasantly surprised by this customer’s voice but didn’t think much of it.
Zhou Lei could feel the cashier’s gaze at him. He felt anxious and worried because he had nary a clue on what to do in this situation.
After suppressing his anxiety to talk with this cashier, Zhou Lei spoke with much uncertainty, “To be honest, this is my first time here… I don’t know what to order…”
The shy voice of the customer coupled with his bashful movements made the cashier think that this person was pretty cute!
“Well, sir, I would recommend a Vanilla Latte, very popular with the customers, or-”
Before the cashier could continue speaking, Zhou Lei interrupted her. “I! I, uh, I’ll have the vanilla latte…”
Seeing that this person didn’t even think twice about her recommendation, the cashier chuckled for a little bit. At first, she too thought that they were going to get robbed. However, it was apparent that he was just a bit shy.
Zhou Lei felt a weight fall off his shoulders when he heard the cashier say, “Vanilla Latte it is!”
Just as he was about to find a seat, the cashier stopped him. “Sir, wait. Please tell me your name…”
Zhou Lei’s heart stopped for a moment. “M- my name?”
“To call you when your order is ready.” The cashier said matter-of-factly.
“But can’t the waitress just bring it to me?” Zhou Lei felt confused. What’s the point of having waitresses when you’re going to require me to go back here anyway?
The cashier giggled as she said, “They won’t be able to identify you without your name!”
“Oh…!” Zhou Lei had a realization. “Then it’s-”
“Lei? Zhou Lei?” A girl had interrupted him.
Fan Xinyue was expectant. However, on the other side, Zhou Lei got uneasy. How did someone recognize me?
Zhou Lei turned to the direction of the girl when her hands suddenly placed themselves on his shoulders as she looked up.
Fan Xinyue was a little on the short side, while Zhou Lei was a tad bit taller when he upgraded his Appearance.
Thus, there was a distance of about six inches between their faces when they looked at each other in close proximity.
“You’re Zhou Lei, right?” Fan Xinyue’s eyes sparkled, waiting for him to nod and confirm her suspicions.
His easily recognizable voice was one that she had never heard before. Never in her entire life has she heard a voice so soothing such as his.
Zhou Lei recognized the face in front of him. It’s the girl from class… Fan Xinyue, was it?
He was about to speak when the cashier broke in their conversation. “Miss Fan, please wait… Sir, your name is Zhou Lei?”
As Zhou Lei found it easier to speak to the cashier than to Fan Xinyue, he turned back to the cashier. “Yes, my name is Zhou Lei…”
Ignoring someone is hard. Zhou Lei could feel the disappointed gaze of the girl beside him. Guilt flooded his mind. He felt that he needed to be quicker.
The cashier inputted the order on the counter. “That will be…”
In a rush, he took out a hundred dollar bill and gave it to the cashier. “Keep the change…”
The bill shocked the cashier when she saw it. “But, sir…”
Zhou Lei waved her off as he walked away with Fan Xinyue. Until now, the cashier didn’t have a response, the bill still in her hands.
