The CEO’s Lovely Wife - Chapter 226
“Even if you ask me, Young Master Jin, I don’t think I have enough authority to change master’s decision.” Assistant Ke also felt so helpless with this. He does not want to think much of this but he knew that his master was already starting to find his heir.
It pains him to acknowledge that his master was not getting any younger. His master’s health had already regressed. That was why he could not help but to indulge his master’s whimsical nature. Thinking this, as sigh a frustration escaped his lips.
“What? Why?” He Jin was infuriated and glared at Assistant Ke. He does not believe that Assistant Ke had done his best to persuade his father. To him, Assistant Ke was supportive in making his eldest brother inherit the company which he, of course, did not want to happen. He has to do something from this, or else he won’t be able to do everything he wanted.
After thinking that Assistant Ke was useless to this, he turned his attention to his eldest brother. His look was dark and eyes full of hatred. He could not let this happen. He does not believe that his brother was more competent he is.
“Brother, you don’t believe that you can handle this company and the companies under it, right? Why don’t you leave it to me? I’ll help you handle it so that you can have more time with your precious daughter.” He Jin went to He Jei and placed his arms on his brother’s shoulder with a confident smile on his feminine-looking face.
“…” He Jei looked at his brother who had on a calculating smile. He frowned in silence and removed his arms on his shoulder and stepped aside to make some distance from him and his brother. Just from that smile was enough to let him know that his younger brother had some ulterior motives and most of the time, these motives were not good. ‘How troublesome.’
“Enough.” Master He’s voice boomed with a stab of his cane. He looked at his youngest son who spends excessive money for his debauchery. “I’ve already said what I had said and there’s no way I am changing my mind. You have no say in it.”
Master He stood up from his executive chair and walked to get out of the meeting room. Every step he took was full of intensity and pressure that hammered in the c.h.e.s.t of all the people in the room. He was then followed by Assistant Ke.
He Jin looked at his old man’s retreating figure with stormy eyes. He will never accept this. He has to do something.
He Jei was also not pleased with the arrangement his father arranged for him without consulting him. He really does not know why his father was acting like so. He was utterly flabbergasted. His eyes then turned to the side only to see his brother glaring darkly at their father. His eyes narrowed but did not say anything.
Turning himself to look at the still stunned and bewildered executives, He Jei slightly bowed his head as he apologized to the behavior of his father.
“Gentlemen, I have to apologize for what you had just witnessed. It’s really unbecoming of us to show that kind of farce. I hope you all won’t be offended.” He said before excusing himself to leave the meeting room to try to catch up with his father who had run away into his office.
He Jin bit his nail in irritation. He was really irked at the show of superiority of his eldest brother. He scoffed. ‘I can also act like that. No, I’m more excellent than him when it comes to dealing with other people.’
“I’m sorry about the display I had let you all witness. As you all know, I am a person who strives for greatness and does not bow to any misgivings or injustice. This is the same if there will come a time when you would encounter unfavorable situations. That is, if you all would support me in my endeavor. But you gentlemen are people who strives for the betterment of your lives, yes? For your family. And that is really admirable.” Hei Jin started to talk continuously with honeyed words, too sweet that it was making the executives who listened to him nauseous.
No. They were professionals with clear goals and discerning eyes for people with great talent. And this person who likes to wear white suit and pink tie and too feminine to look at couple with his sickly looking features resulting from his nonstop debauchery.
One by one, the executes in the meeting room skillfully escaped the flowery world of He Jin. However, because of how immersed He Jin was in his words of persuasion, he had not noticed that he was the only one left in the meeting room.
“Father, please reconsider.” He Jei burst into the office of Master He with a frown on his face. “You are still young and full of vigor. Why are…” you acting like you are getting too old and sickly as if you are about to disappear any moment?
He Jie did not dare continue what he was about to ask. If he did, it was like he was accepting the fact that his old man was really getting too old. He knew that his father was someone who will one day disappear in this earth plane, but he was not resigned to it. He was afraid and sad.
“My dear granddaughter! Are you well? Are you eating properly? Is that bas- *cough* husband of yours taking good care of you? You have to rest well too since you are pregnant. We can’t have you be too stressed with work too. It’ll affect your health and my great grandchild altogether.” Master He’s cheerful voice slapped on He Jei’s worried face. It was so resounding that it made He Jei almost vomit blood.
‘This old man!’ He was worried for nothing. His face darkened and his eyes glared hatefully at his old man, asking for the affections he had just a while ago. Right now, he was cursing his old man in his heart. His affections nowhere to be found.
His gaze then landed on Assistant Ke who had just happened to receive a call. His eyes narrowed and his jaw tightened. The two people inside the office were just too relaxed and seemed to have no problem at all.
“Ah. Nevermind. I give up.” He Jei sighed in defeat. He did not anticipate that his time with his precious daughter would be cut short by his own damn old man. He was resigned to his new hectic position and his countenance became gloomier than it already was as he went out of the office with a dead look on his face.
No one in the office noticed that sudden arrival or exit of He Jei.
He then ended his call and directed his gaze full of elation to the old man who was chatting with October on the other.
Master He, who felt like his skin crawl, turned to Assistant Ke with annoyance. He was disturbed. He does not want people to interrupt his conversation with his granddaughter so his face was twisted into a snarl as his gaze seemed to shoot fire at his assistant. However, Assistant Ke did not flinch, much less care about the disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e on his master, as he was glowing in happiness. This made Master He frown even more.
Judging from his assistant’s reaction and his face flushed in excitement as if he can’t wait to say something to him, Master He can only reluctantly end his call.
With disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e clearly written on his old face on bold letter, Master He’s attention was now on Assistant Ke.
“Master!” Assistant Ke’s voice almost cracked as he called with full of emotion.
“What?”
“My wife’s back. She’s finally back.” Assistant Ke could not stop himself anymore as relief washed over him at the thought that he could finally see his wife after years of separation. It was really not about their marriage was in jeopardy, it was just that his wife had suddenly disappeared all of a sudden.
He had exhausted all his resources just to find his wife. And his heart was torn at the thought that his wife was nowhere to be found. That was why he was so happy that he had literally broken down into tears.
Master He, who had heard this, narrowed his eyes that was brewing a storm and his jaw tightened the same with his fists clenched tightly until his nails burrowed deeper into his skin.
“What did she say?” He asked, voice cold and deep, devoid of emotion.
“Yes…” Assistant Ke stopped his pathetic crying and looked at his master with sad eyes, “she said that she will come home in a few days. It had something to do with the late young miss.”
Master He felt like his whole frosted over and his heart grew cold and hard. Just the mention of “late young miss” was enough to crush him yet into a thousand, million pieces. His daughter, October’s mother, was now out of his reach.
“Good. Now, leave me.” Master He’s eyes were stormy as it filled with sadness, hatred, anguish, and thirst for blood.
Assistant Ke did not dare dilly dally as he quickly went out of the office, closing the door behind him.
‘Jiao’er…’ Master He looked into the vast horizon of the top floor of the building with eyes staring into nothing.
