The CEO’s Lovely Wife - Chapter 258
“Ugh…” October g.r.o.a.n.e.d as she stirred in a soft bed she was laying at. And then, a soft and gentle voice was heard, calling for her.
“Dear, are you awake now?” Doctor Cui asked when she noticed October’s small movement while she was piling her papers with her patients’ information.
October’s fan-like eyelashes trembled softly before opening her eyes. Her eyes were blurry at first and took a few more seconds before her vision became clearer. She slowly sat up and looked around her environment only to find that she was in clinic of Doctor Cui. Her eyes then rested on her doctor who walked toward her with a small smile and soft eyes looking at her.
She felt weird receiving that kind of look of gentleness from someone she barely knew but still, it does not feel bad. She nodded her head and automatically placed both hands on her slightly bulging belly and became nervous and worried with her blood running cold.
“What happened? What about my babies?” Her voice trembled as she asked this.
“It’s fine now, you and your babies. Are you uncomfortable anywhere?”
“…no. I don’t think so.” She felt relieved before combing her hair with her fingers. “Who brought me here?”
“It was your husband.” Doctor Cui answered with a slight shook of her head. “But he instantly stormed off to who knows where, and just left you here the moment he knew that you were alright. I mean, how could he do that? You were still unconscious.”
October listened and realized that he must have went out to get some business done. “Thank you, doctor. But I need to get back to work. I can’t just leave it there.”
“No.” The doctor firmly rejected. She looked at October who was sitting there with her expressionless yet pretty face and forest-like eyes. “Madam Song, I advise you to get a good rest today. You don’t own your body by yourself anymore especially so that you are carrying two. In this kind of situation wherein you are carrying twins, your body is more at risk than the normal one. And you are making it worse because of how you put pressure and stress in you and hence overworked yourself that led to you fainting. I heard that this is the second time for you.”
The doctor then put a hand on October’s shoulder and gave it a light squeeze and softly smiled, “Take care of yourself more. Although you are already in the last stages of the first trimester where it’s dangerous, you still have to be careful.”
October looked down to her belly and thought about the image of the two babies that were only a few centimeters small sleeping peacefully inside her. And the obvious heartbeat in them were loud which was a clear indication of life that brought delight and happiness in her.
“Yes.”
“Good.” Doctor Cui nodded her head in satisfaction. “Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?”
It was at this time that October was reminded about this that her stomach growled loudly. It was so loud that it filled the room.
“!” October’s eyes widened in shock and then in embarrassment. “I-I’m sorry. I forgot about eating lunch because of work.”
Doctor Cui felt really helpless about hearing this. “As I’ve said, eating on time, eat delicious and healthy food. And when I say healthy, it means a balanced diet. *Sigh* I’ll call the person Lyndonn that Master Song assigned to buy you some food. Do you have any requests that you wanted to eat right now?”
October became thoughtful for a moment. At this time, Lyndonn also entered with his usual black suit and shades with an earpiece.
“I’d like to eat mangoes. I want the green ones.” She said, her eyes bright and sparkling like gems. Just the thought of it made her mouth water. “I’d like those.”
Doctor Cui merely chuckled at this and told Lyndonn of other food for October to eat. It only took him for half an hour before he came back with all of the food that October had to eat. October ate with gusto.
She gobbled all of the food in front of her. She did not realize that she was this hungry until that juicy chicken entered her mouth and touched her taste buds. It was such a heavenly feeling. It may be because she was so hungry that she felt like it was the most delicious food she had ever tasted or that it was really a food from a renowned chef or from a five-star restaurant.
After eating and resting for a bit, October prepared to leave.
“Thank you, Doctor Cui.” October sincerely thanked.
Doctor Cui only waved her hand in dismissal and gently said, “No thanks needed. This is was I ought to do to my patients. Just remember to take care of your body more. I don’t want you to faint yet again. It would be good if it was just like today but it may not be as fortunate the next.”
“Yes, thank you for you concern. I will now take my leave, doctor.” October gave her thanks again before going out of the hospital with Lyndonn following behind her.
After going out, October decided to call Director Sheng to let him know of her absence, an emergency leave.
“Okay.” Director Sheng sighed a sigh of relief. He knew about what happened to October and was really upset about the fact that Peizhi had done some underhanded tactics to get back to October. Right now, no director in the company was happy with Peizhi entering their company that resulted in a lot of things that only put them in such a disadvantageous situation.
“Just rest well and never push yourself too hard like that again. Know your limitations.” Director Sheng sighed softly before ending the call.
“Where to, young madam?” Lyndonn asked October while opening the car door for her. He then closed the door when she climbed in before went around to the driver’s seat and drove off.
“To Josh’s store.”
Nodding his head in understanding, Lyndonn picked up his speed and drove off toward Josh’s clothing store, that burly man she met.
After approximately twenty minutes, they arrived at the destination October wanted to go. Lyndonn went out of the car to assist his young madam but October beat to it as she opened the car herself and got out and went straight inside the store.
“Good morning, young madam.” Greet the four assistants inside simultaneously with a slight bow of their heads showing their respect to October. This would be the first time that they had greeted October like this because the last time was because they all fled out of the scene when they noticed Lexus with such murderous gaze while looking at Josh, the designer and boss of the store.
October was not used to this but she still kept herself calm and poised like she always does and went to them and asked at no one in particular, “Where is Josh?”
“He’s at the back room, concentrating in designing for his new collection.” One assistant who seemed to be the manager of the store answered. “Do you want me to call for him, young madam?”
“Yes. Thank you.”
“Hello ladies. Good day! Is your boss inside?” A cheery voice of a man that was light and gentle but also playful could be heard on the entrance of the store.
“Dear customer, please leave if you don’t have any business here aside from looking for our boss.” In other words, please don’t pester us and our boss. However, the man was still persistent as he did not leave and just stayed standing by the entrance door with his hands shoved in his pockets and a confident smile on his handsome face.
October noticed the small commotion in the store but she did not care as she concentrated on the magazine she was looking and noticed a familiar figure in it. Her eyes went wide as she thought if her eyes were playing tricks on her but after blinking a few more times, the model in the magazine was really her.
“This…” She was rendered speechless and could not flip into the next page as her eyes were glued solely on the figure in the magazine.
It was at this time that the man at the entrance had entered the store languidly and comfortably. As he walked to sit on the sofa, he noticed a lady sitting there with her posture straight, perfect. Her clothes were that of a white-collared employee. She looked like a boring woman but considering how she acted and her fair skin that glistened under the lights and her face that was covered with the magazine with only a smooth forehead could be seen, he somehow knew that the woman sitting there was a beautiful lady.
He became interested and so went to walk toward her but soon stopped when he noticed the woman lowering the magazine she was holding. He felt his mind went blank for a moment. His eyes wide and mouth hanging open.
He blinked his eyes, returning out of his daze and called out the name in which he had never thought he would utter again.
“Lanna…”
October who heard this frowned. She really was not that comfortable being called by that name any longer. However, considering the way the man was calling her, he must be someone she knew before.
“Pan Zihao.”
