The CEO’s Lovely Wife - Chapter 288
As time passed, coldness in the air kept dropping and tension kept on rising as Lexus raced for time. He couldn’t keep himself calm. He always looked ahead hoping to see the car they were chasing where his wife was in or if they were already near their destination. With utter dismay, he would then look to his watch to check for the many seconds and minutes that passed.
The people under Luke’s were compentent individual, there’s no question on that. However, when it comes to October, the only person that shed light and color to Lexus’ life, no one can blame him for his frustration and impatience and think how slow Luke and his people were.
Lexus leaned on his seat, eyes filled with ripleless eyes yet dark and full of danger while looking nowhere but air. It was as if the world around him turned white and grey as noise blended on the background; a monotonous world. It was as if he went back to the time where he was still going on about with his daily life revolving around business and work. His like came to a turn so unexpectedly and abruptly. He did not flinch on how sudden the change in him and his life had turned, rather he was happy to welcome it all. He had just tasted that sweet aromatic fragrance of love he never thought he would ever have and yet…
“Fuck.” Lexus cursed out loud. Fists clenched over and over again as if flexing and nerves were pounding nonstop. The urge of punching something to a pulp was so strong that his veins popped on his hands.
There was no one in the car who would dare make any unnecessary noise as if there was a tacit understanding to do it. They too were also frustrated and angry and anxious but they knew that what they’re feeling could not compare to the despair Lexus was feeling, not even a fraction of it.
Lexus closed his eyes and gritted his teeth. He could not do anything but wait in agony. For the first time, he felt so useless. He was shaking and anyone could see it but he did not care. He just prayed for the safety of his wife and children.
“Please be safe.” He whispered as if it was a whimper of a child. If anything, Lexus was on the verge of breaking but he does not want to feel defeated and hopeless. What he truly need now was to courage and strength to deal with the situation at hand and he needed to do it quickly.
Lexus was never a kind person. He knew that he was ruthless and merciless toward people who offended him. However, it seemed that people had forgotten all about it and started to reach their claws to something they shouldn’t touch.
People just could not wait to die a natural death and just had to provoke the person who was worse than the King Yana himself. With that, the people who’ll offend him will pay for their crimes a million times. They just have to wait for it with their necks clean ready to be cut.
Meanwhile, at the residence of the Song Family, Song Wei and Jane Song, Lexus’ parents, were having a leisurely chat at the back garden when their butler came in running with a worried look on his face.
“Master, Madam, not good.”
“What is it? Why are you running so fast like that? Calm down first and tell it to us.” Father Song said, dismissing the anxious look the butler was giving them.
“Yes, that’s right, Uncle Xiao.” Mother Song nodded, putting her cup of tea on the table with a warm smile on her face.
“However, it is just so bad. Young Master Luke just called and said that something happened to the Young Madam.” Butler Xiao said with sweat on his forehead.
Father Song and Mother Song looked at each other because Father Song nodded his head for the butler to continue with furrowes eyebrows.
If Luke was the one who called to inform them then the situation definitely wasn’t good. He pursed his lips and looked at Butler Xiao.
With that, Butler Xiao relayed the bad news that Luke said. This made Mother Song so upset that she fainted directly.
“Darling! Darling!!”
The car chase was still ongoing. According to Luke’s intel, the two cars that they were tracking have finally been seen passing by the highway and that it separated on opposite directions. They had already checked their possible destinations and so immedaitely eliminated one car. With that, they concentrated on following the car that was headed on the borders of City D where abandoned warehouses can be found. Though there were many buildings, they already narrowed down their destination into 3 buildings and all they have to do now was to wait for the car to arrive and that would be the time to make their move.
Peizhi went to his company and acted as if nothing out of the ordinary happened at all. He was calm, collected and full of charisma…at least that was what he wanted people to see. Deep inside though, he was anxious to know the progress of the operation. It’s been some time now since those people called him.
Employees who noticed him greeted him as he walked passed them but he did not looked at them. He made his way to his elevator when suddenly his phone rang. His hands shook, even his core did so too.
Peizhi looked sideways to see if people were looking at him and let out a aigh of relief when they were busy with their own work. He pulled out his phone and answered it in the most calm and unhurried tone he could muster. He then walked to the fire exit and climbed a few steps of stairs up.
“How was it?” He asked impatiently but with lowered voice. He was so concerned with the call that he did not notice that someone had slowly opened the fire exit door and eavesdropped on him.
That person had a cooled look on her face. With ears focused on the conversation Peizhi was having, the more she heard, the more her face turned ugly. Her hands holding the doorknob tightened so much that it turned blue.
“Is it done? Good, good. Don’t forget to feed her that medicine. Hmph! I don’t care. What do you mean my daughter? I already kicked her out of the family.” Peizhi said with a voice full of disgust.
‘Daughter?’ The woman by the exit door narrowed her eyes as uneasiness crept on her. The phone she was holding tightened, heart pounding in her chest.
“What do you mean send you the money? Our deal was when the job is done before I give the rest of it to you. You only finished half of the job so get rid of those…those babies in her first. Don’t forget to send me a picture of it as proof.”
‘…’ The woman could feel her blood boiling in her as she could not stomach the things she was hearing right now. She was not stupid. Even though there was no mention of the name on who they were talking about but Peizhi doesn’t have any other daughter aside from October.
The woman immediately walked out of there in a hurry with her face twisted in fury. If anything, she wanted to go to Peizhi and lash out on him but she held it in and thought against it. What’s more important was that she needed to report this to He Tian, their family head. As soon as she came out the building and got into her car, she called the number she was most familiar with, her husband’s, the butler of the He family.
Peizhi did not notice that someone was eavesdropping on him as he was busy making his call. He wanted to call Lu Xing but decided not to because of what she had said just a while ago.
*Riiiiing~*
Startled, Peizhi looked at the caller ID and his face showed an annoyed face but still answered it.
“Miss Lu.”
“Yeah, is it done yet? Why is it taking so long?!” She hissed with eyes red in anger. Right now, she’s in the ladies room in the café leaving Grandma Song on their table just so she could ask for any progress.
Peizhi was really not getting any respect from Lu Xing which really hurt his pride but he held it in and swallowed his anger because right now, he was trying to cling onto the thighs of the Lu family through Lu Xing.
“Lanna’s already with them and are now on their way to that abandoned building.”
“Hmph! So slow! Tell them to hurry it up.” She said, checking her reflection on the mirror before adding, “You know what, just give me the leader’s phone. I want to get an update right from his mouth.. Send it to me.”
