The Cherished Old Time - C174
Du Qinyi was defeated so miserably, so thoroughly in front of Yu Meng.
She was also intelligent, being able to manage Du’s from an ordinary small company to a listed company was all part of Du Qinyi’s hard work and effort.
Yu Meng might sympathize with her, but she was even more unable to forgive her.
“If you had the chance to repeat yourself, would you still choose to fall in love with Tan Yubai?”
Du Qinyi collapsed to the ground. Her eyes gradually calmed down and her eyelids drooped slightly: “It’s not wrong to love him. I’ve never regretted falling in love with him either.”
She was still stubbornly pitiful.
Yu Meng crouched down and couldn’t help but let out a sigh. “Du Qinyi, you’ve had so many absurd dreams, and yet you still refuse to forget them even after waking up.”
The bright moon shone gently on their solitary figures, thin and stubborn.
“You’ve always viewed me as your enemy. Have you ever thought that if you and I were friends, many tragedies might not have happened?”
If they had teamed up with each other, perhaps they would have already built the most secure and indestructible business empire in the city. Even if it was the merchants who wanted a share of the profits, it would not be that easy.
But there had never been such a thing as a medicine for regret in this world.
“Do you remember when I was a kid, my dad took me to your house to play?” That was many years ago, she thought she had forgotten about it, but those mental memories were buried because they were only recalled at a special moment, “At that time, Tan Yubai didn’t come to my house to stay, you played with me like a doll and taught me how to jump. I remember when we were eating together and you were sitting across from me, and we used to smile at each other because of a topic that no one else understood. My dad said we were sisters for life, and we had our own little secrets at such a young age. ”
When they were young, how could they have expected things to turn out this way after so many years?
“Of course I do.”
Du Qinyi’s arrogant eyes slowly began to fill with sincerity.
“I’ve wanted to have a sister since I was young. When you appeared, you smiled at me and I always thought you were my sister.”
Yu Meng couldn’t help but ask again.
“Then do you regret it now?”
Yu Meng felt that it was a pity. Such good sisterhood, such an outstanding girl, had been reduced to nothing because of a man who didn’t love her. Had she really not regretted it? How could she not regret?
“I do love him.” Du Qinyi raised his head, with a pleading look in his eyes: “Let me see him, I’m begging you, Xiao Meng.”
She called her Little Dream.
When she was young, she had called her little sister Xiao Meng.
Yu Meng’s body stiffened. She looked at Du Qinyi for a long time, but in the end, she could not find anything to say.
“I said it’s impossible, and I said it’s necessary for a person to be responsible for their own mistakes.”
She had caused her such a mess. With her marriage broken and her family bankrupt, how could she be soft-hearted towards her?
Du Qinyi finally lowered her eyes. After a moment, she suddenly raised her head and looked at Yu Meng with certainty.
“I owe you. I will use my life to pay you back.” Du Qinyi seemed to have gone crazy. Her eyes were so determined that even Yu Meng was anxious, “As long as you let me see Tan Yubai once, I will give you my life.”
“For Tan Yubai, you can even give up your life?”
Du Qinyi’s eyes were moist, her grief wanton.
“I just, just wanted to see him.” Her voice was very soft, but in the silence of the night, it clearly resounded in Yu Meng’s ears, “As long as I can see him, I’ll be satisfied.”
At this moment, he saw a woman’s infatuation with the door frame.
Like another self.
In this world, there were many men and women who were infatuated with each other without regret. Their attitudes and choices were different, but the number of people who could survive until they were old was extremely few.
In the end, Yu Meng didn’t say anything. She just stood up and left.
Her heart softened, but she could not let go of her hatred towards Du Qinyi. She could not make a choice, and could only flee.
Softness had always been her greatest weakness.
The day that Yu Meng went to see Tan Yubai, he had grown much more experienced. After the lawyer finished explaining the matters of note to him in court on the day of the hearing, he then left the rest of his time to Yu Meng and him.
His beard had grown quite a bit and his complexion was very poor. At this moment, his black and green eyes were filled with a heartbreaking sense of tiredness.
Yu Meng held his hand, her heart aching from the thin bone.
“It’s okay. You’ll be able to go out soon.”
Tan Yubai didn’t seem to mind how long it would take for him to get out of there. He just continued to massage Yu Meng’s hands repeatedly, his eyes were murky with emotion that Yu Meng couldn’t see through.
“Did he bully you?” Tan Yubai seemed to be no stranger to what Shang Hui knew how to do. He used the word “bully” instead of “threaten”.
He seemed to have guessed it all.
Yu Meng did not hide anything from her and nodded her head.
Tan Yubai did not speak, he only looked at Yu Meng, as though he was waiting for her reply.
“He wants me to beg him to let you go.” Yu Meng’s voice was as calm as her eyes. “But I rejected him. It seems to have angered him even more.”
Tan Yubai pursed his lips and laughed. His smile was clear and shallow, contained in his beautiful appearance and thin lips.
“As expected of my woman.”
There was a table between them and a policeman who had been following them. They could not hug or kiss each other, but could only look into each other’s eyes and suppress their emotions, over and over, in their hearts.
Tan Yubai squinted his eyes, the voice sounded like it was wrapped in some sort of granule, and it swept past Yu Meng’s ears in a low voice, causing her to feel at ease.
“He can’t touch me.” Tan Yubai pressed Yu Meng’s hand: “Don’t be afraid.”
Yu Meng smiled, “I’ve never been afraid.”
She said, “I know that everything will pass, but it will be more difficult. I’m not afraid.”
Yu Meng suddenly felt something hard appearing in her palm. She opened her eyes wide and looked at Tan Yubai in confusion.
He nodded quietly.
Yu Meng understood and quietly took the object in her hand and put it in her pocket without batting an eyelid.
The meeting time of the last two hours was almost over. When Yu Meng said her goodbyes to Tan Yubai, his calm and free expression surprised Yu Meng.
She had thought that he would be very worried about her, worried that she would be able to take care of everything on her own, but now it seemed that he was extremely calm, even having the confidence that he already had everything in his hands.
Yu Meng wasn’t sure if she was imagining things or not.
Or perhaps, Tan Yubai didn’t feel worried, just because he was confident enough in her?
Yu Mengyi didn’t know the answer, so she couldn’t be bothered to think about it too much.
When Tan Yubai returned to the prison, he had been sitting in his seat, looking at his own palm.
The temperature of this strike was as soft as Yu Meng’s finger.
Tan Yubai didn’t know whether or not he made the right choice this time, but he knew that if he didn’t, Shang Hui would always stick between him and Yu Meng like an annoying dog skin plaster.
He had to force her to be ruthless, force her into a corner before she could truly grow up.
Previously, Tan Yubai thought that he would only need to accompany her for her entire life to protect her, but there were too many uncontrollable variables on this journey of his. He finally understood that he shouldn’t be someone she could rely on, and the person she should rely on was herself.
He wanted her to learn to be ruthless, to lose something.
Tan Yubai only hoped that all of this was worth it.
Yu Meng came out of the police station and said her goodbyes to Lu. Her car was parked by the side of the road and she sat in the driver’s seat by herself. Finally, she dared to take out the thing that Tan Yubai had given her out.
It was actually the storage ring Shang Hui had given her!
Yu Meng tried to recall, it was as if Tan Yubai had casually thrown away the ring and she had never found it again.
How could it still be in Tan Yubai’s hands?
And at this critical moment, why did he give this ring to her?
Yu Meng looked at the ring carefully. It seemed a little different from before.
This ring was a collision color design. It was very wide and was obviously for men to wear. The two sides were blue and inlaid with a grey color in the middle. It looked very unique and high-grade. Yu Meng slid the tip of her finger across the middle gray piece. Half of it could actually rotate inside and out!
The color inside was the same as outside. The only difference was that this part had some indentations that were not too obvious, while Yu Meng touched the other part that had a blue color. This part could be completely slid left or right.
Yu Meng remembered that when Shang Hui gifted it to her, the ring was dead, and it was not as nimble as it was now.
How did it become like this after being taken by Tan Yubai for a period of time?
Bad? Or was it fake?
While Yu Meng was still in doubt, the car door was suddenly opened by someone. She was shocked, and almost dropped the ring on the floor.
She had been so preoccupied with the items in her pocket that Yu Meng had forgotten to lock the car door.
“I’m sorry, I think you got the wrong car.”
Yu Meng frowned as she looked at the man. It was strange that the man’s face seemed so familiar to her.
“Hello, Miss Yu Meng, this one is Shang Duo.”
Yu Meng frowned, “How do you know my name? I don’t think I know you. ”
“I know him now.” The man’s smile was standard, polite, official, not very sincere, but not unpleasant either.
The man held out his hand, his slender fingers pausing in the air. He waited for a long time, as if he was also a patient person.
Yu Meng didn’t respond to his handshake. Instead, she cautiously asked.
“What do you want?”
Shang Duo’s gaze fell on one of Yu Meng’s hands, which was clenched into two fists on his lap.
But it was seen through by Shang Duo with a single glance.
“That ring is ours.”
