The Cherished Old Time - C181
Now that things had progressed to this point, Yu Meng could more or less guess the general gist of it.
Shang Duo, but why is he doing all this?
The next morning, when Yu Meng was eating breakfast in the dining room, she heard footsteps on the stairs and looked up. It was the woman from last night.
I don’t know why men have such weird tastes.
She paused in front of Yu-Meng, one hand on the back of the table.
Yu Meng didn’t look up. She could see the woman’s forehead and slender wrists which were resting on the back of the chair. She asked in a neutral tone.
“We’ll eat together?”
The lady seemed to want to eat it, but before she could open her mouth, Shang Hui was already standing at the stairs not too far away from them.
“She doesn’t eat.” Shang Hui answered for the woman before walking towards the dining hall. His expression was dark and cold: “Go back.”
His attitude toward women was nothing like the way a nouveau riche might think about his little sweetheart.
“But I …” The woman seemed to be fighting for something else.
But the man’s attitude was firm and unquestionable. “I don’t want to say it a second time.”
From start to finish, Yu Meng didn’t lift her head. She didn’t seem to care about what happened around her. What she cared about was the taste of breakfast. She heard the woman striding towards the door, her footsteps deliberately heavy and loud, as if to express her dissatisfaction.
“Bam!” The door was slammed shut and the room finally quietened down.
Yu Meng also finished the last piece of bread and wiped her mouth. She stood up from her seat and looked at Shang Hui expressionlessly, then asked Shang Hui as usual, “Which do you want to drink for your milk and coffee?”
Shang Hui sat down and randomly answered with coffee.
After Yu Meng finished making the coffee for him, she turned around and prepared to head upstairs. From start to finish, she had only talked to Shang Hui about this one sentence.
“Little Meng.” When Yu Meng turned around, she heard Shang Hui calling out to her.
Yu Meng stopped and turned back to look at him.
“What’s the matter? Does the coffee taste bad?”
“Come here.” Shang Hui reached out his hands to her.
Yu Meng walked over and sat in front of Shang Hui, dodging his hand that was still in midair.
“Why?”
Shang Hui retracted his hand, as though he did not feel awkward at all, he drank a mouthful of coffee and thought for a while before speaking.
“Yesterday, I was drunk. I don’t know why I was with her …”
Yu Meng smiled, “You don’t need to explain to me.”
“It’s your business who you want to sleep with.”
Shang Hui lowered his head and sighed: “I was just worried that you would feel uncomfortable because of this.”
“Nope.” Yu Meng’s attitude was clear. “I’m not uncomfortable. You’re a man, this is normal.”
Indeed, she was not angry, but her expression gave off the feeling that “women are the ones who like to say the opposite of what they want to say”. Yu Meng herself found this strange.
“Little Meng, I haven’t touched any other women since you moved in.”
Without waiting for Yu Meng’s reply, Shang Hui continued, “Yesterday was indeed an exception.”
Yu Mengmeng said something, but she couldn’t say anything.
This matter, under their current state of relationship, was really strange. Yu Meng did not want to continue, and even more so, did not want to waver her heart because of Shang Hui’s attitude.
“Alright, you should go to work now, right?” Yu Meng felt like she wanted to end the conversation.
“Today is the weekend, I’m not going to the company.” Shang Hui opened his mouth: “I let Mother Chen go back, we’re the only two left at home today.”
Yu Meng nodded her head. Actually, when Shang Hui was not at home, she would often let her mother go back. She liked to be alone at home and make herself some ordinary dishes.
Thus, Yu Meng stood up naturally and began to clean the dishes.
Shang Hui was startled.
“You don’t need to sit here. Just leave it there. When Mrs. Chan comes over at night, she will naturally take care of it.”
Yu Meng’s men didn’t stop and continued to work.
“It’s fine. I have nothing to do anyway, so I won’t be so bored as to do some chores.”
Shang Hui followed Yu Meng and stood up, he looked at her, and a heavy grey light appeared in his eyes.
“Would it be unhappy for you to be alone at home?” Yu Meng stopped eating and did not answer, but she asked Shang Hui a question instead.
“What kind of life do you think is happy?”
Shang Hui thought.
“My current life.” He began to help Yu Meng clean up and, like her, stacked the plates and bowls and chopsticks.
“I feel so happy every day when I come home from work and see you waiting for me.”
Yu Meng didn’t even look up as she carried the tray towards the kitchen.
“I’m not waiting for you. I’m usually watching TV, pulling weeds in the yard, or reading a book. Why do you think I’m waiting for you?”
Shang Hui followed Yu Meng and squeezed into the small kitchen.
“Anyway, it’s enough to see you here.”
Yu Meng bent down and put the dirty dishes into the dishwasher one by one. Her movements were skillful and fluid.
“Do you often do housework?” Shang Hui didn’t even know how to turn on the dishwasher, much less let him wash the dishes. On the contrary, Yu Meng was actually doing this for a young miss from a wealthy family, which really surprised him.
Yu Meng put the dirty dishes away, closed the door of the dishwasher, and pressed the power source before straightening up. “Not often.”
“Then why are you so skilled?”
“My family has broken through to the next generation.” Yu Meng glanced at Shang Hui, then took out a cloth to walk around Shang Hui and walked out of the kitchen, “At that time, I stayed at Dihao Community’s place and relied on Tan Yubai to keep me.”
“At that time, the only property in the family that was not mortgaged was the house. We didn’t have any money for a nanny, and I had nothing to do anyway, so I stayed home reading, tidying up the house, and learning how to cook.”
Shang Hui leaned on the kitchen door frame, looking at Yu Meng thoughtfully.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” When Yu Meng passed by Shang Hui and walked towards the kitchen, she couldn’t help but glance at him.
“You look good.” Shang Hui laughed and turned, his gaze continued to follow Yu Mengyou, “I found out that you’re like a treasure trove, and the deeper you dig, the more pleasantly surprised you are.”
Yu Meng couldn’t help but roll her eyes at him.
“Do you know why you make me special?”
Shang Hui raised his eyebrows, “Isn’t it because you’re already special?”
Yu Meng shook her head, “There are so many girls like me in this world. The reason why you think I’m different is because the circle you live in is too high and you stand too high. ”
“So what?”
“If you stand too high, you are destined to lose something. In fact, if you look down, you will find that an ordinary girl like me cannot be seen if she is thrown into the crowd.”
Yu Meng had always felt that she had nothing worth loving. All of her potential had been forced out of her by her own life, even if she didn’t want to.
After washing the dishes in the dishwasher, Yu Meng took them out and sterilized them in the disinfectant cabinet. Shang Hui did not do anything to help his, but Yu Meng threw him out as a troublemaker.
After waiting for Yu Meng to finish cleaning up, Shang Hui had already changed into a new set of clothes and came out of his room.
After changing into the custom-made, high-class suit, Shang Hui wore a simple white T-shirt and jeans.
If she had seen him for the first time, perhaps she really would have felt like the big brother next door.
“Why did you suddenly dress like this?” No matter what, Yu Meng was still not used to it. She had almost never seen Shang Hui with such a simple and unadorned appearance.
“I just thought about it. Your words are very reasonable, so I’ve decided to experience civilian life with you today.”
Yu Meng frowned and couldn’t help but take a few steps back.
“Are you crazy again?”
Shang Hui grabbed Yu Meng to his side, forcing her to not let go.
“Hurry up and get changed. We’re leaving.”
Yu Meng frowned, “Where are you going?”
“You’ll know when you get there.”
“I’m not going.”
This guy had so many bad ideas, who knew where he would drag himself to.
“You want to stay at home with me all day today, and I’ll keep touching you …” Shang Hui said this while also displaying her strength, forcing Yu Meng into a corner. She leaned over, and the two of them nose to nose seemed to be close to touching.
“Or …”
Shang Hui had not finished speaking when Yu Meng quickly made his decision.
“I’m going to change!”
Yu Meng was wearing a simple T-shirt and jeans. The T-shirt had a middle sleeves, while the jeans were also the most basic light color. There were no holes at all.
Shang Hui was distressed. Looking at Yu Meng who was too lazy to even take his bag, he frowned: “Didn’t I buy you so many clothes and dresses? I was just afraid that you would say it was inappropriate, I even bought one for each size, why don’t you wear it, it’s always your two clothes, after all, it’s so tight, aren’t you afraid of sunstroke? ”
Yu Meng rolled her eyes at Shang Hui.
“Take a look at the ones you bought for me. They are becoming more and more exposed. Either they are tight or have low collars. They are so ugly.”
Shang Hui was a little unconvinced.
“I asked my secretary to make a special choice for you.”
Yu Meng glanced at Shang Hui.
“Since it was chosen by your secretary, it wouldn’t be strange if someone with this style would be selected.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean let’s hurry.”
Yu Meng felt that Shang Hui’s sometimes strong and threatening actions in front of outsiders would cause people to be afraid, and even Yu Meng would be scared by him.
But occasionally, when he was alone with her, he would be like a child, stubbornly preoccupied with things that seemed to have no importance at all.
After getting on the car, with Yu Meng wearing her seat belt, Shang Hui suddenly came over.
“What are you doing?!” Yu Meng’s eyes widened in shock.
“Where’s my ring?” He looked at her smooth neck, empty.
Lifting up the ring, Yu Meng’s heart tightened.
“I …” Although he already knew the password, the ring had clearly been broken, and the original ball on it had been destroyed. If he gave it back to Shang Hui, he would definitely be discovered by him.
Yu Meng had not expected him to ask such a question, and she was left speechless for a moment. She hadn’t even had the chance to find an excuse.
“You don’t like it?” Shang Hui casually asked.
Yu Meng immediately followed up.
“With such an old design, you can hide it in your clothes in the winter. It’s not suitable for summer at all.”
“If you don’t like it, then don’t wear it.” Shang Hui seemed to be an extremely rational and reasonable person.
He didn’t ask about the necklace.
