The Cherished Old Time - C201
After Shang Duo’s emotions were extremely released, he quickly regained his calm. He bent down to pick up the handgun under his feet once again, looking up, his pitch-black, ice-cold gaze landed on Tan Yubai’s body.
“Tan Yubai, how do you know about my mom?”
“You don’t need to know.” Tan Yubai replied coldly: “Now, tell your people to withdraw. Also, give me the contract in your hands.”
“Shang Duo, I think you still haven’t figured out the situation.” Tan Yubai slowly raised his eyes, the indifference and gentleness in his eyes was instead the sharpest edge of the blade: “Since I was able to let you and your mother watch the video, I have long ago sent people to take care of her. As long as I give the order, whether she lives or dies, it’s all in your hands.”
“Despicable!” Shang Duo glared angrily. He raised his arm, pointed the gun straight at Tan Yubai and tensed up: “Use an old man as a threat! Are you human?! ”
Everyone had a weak side, and this side was in the hands of people they thought were important. From the moment the merchant wife appeared, Shang Duo had already lost all of them.
Tan Yubai ignored his question, and instead asked back with a cold smile: “What about you, are your actions any different from mine? I’m only doing this to return the favor. ”
Shang Duo clenched his teeth, and the muzzle of his gun turned, all the way until Yu Meng.
“Alright.” Shang Duo laughed sinisterly, “Then let me also warn you, hurry up and let your people leave. Otherwise, I’ll let Yu Meng see the King of Hell first!”
Tan Yubai’s eyes were still cold and detached, he calmly walked over to Yu Meng’s side and pressed his forehead against the muzzle of Shang Duo’s gun.
“You can try.” His voice was deep and steady.
The calmer Tan Yubai was, the more flustered he became.
Shang Duo’s hands were trembling, and the hatred in his eyes could not utter a single word for a long while.
“You can’t negotiate with me right now.” Tan Yubai coldly reminded him: “Shang Duo, you don’t have much time left.”
Shang Duo gnashed his teeth in hatred as his eyes burned red. He pressed his trembling hands even harder against the center of Tan Yubai’s brows, pressing down hard enough that he couldn’t help but stagger two steps back.
“Tan Yubai, then I’ll kill you first.”
“If you touch anyone here today, you won’t be able to see your mother die.”
With that, he completely destroyed Shang Duo.
After a long while, Shang Duo raised his hand, and handed over the stack of papers in his hand to Tan Yubai.
In the vast heaven and earth, the willow trees floated in the air and was completely silent.
A tinge of desolation flashed across Shang Duo’s eyes. He pursed his lips and smiled compassionately. Even he himself felt that he was pitiful. He had spent half his life walking all the way here, but in the end, all his efforts had been for naught. He had nothing at all.
Shang Duo’s shoulders tensed up, the hand holding the spear quickly turned, and pressed against his temple.
“Bam!”
The sun was about to set, and the sky was covered with a red glow. Everyone was covered in it, and after the gunshots, there was a deathly silence.
Shang Duo’s eyes were wide open as he collapsed onto the ground. His spear was thrown far away, and his chest was moving up and down.
He tilted his head slightly.
“Why did you save me?”
Tan Yubai stood by his side, bowed his hands, and looked at him with cold eyes.
“It’s easy for you to die, but someone is still waiting for you to come home.”
His mother was worried as he travelled a thousand miles. These words finally destroyed all of Shang Duo’s defense lines. He laid on the ice-cold ground, and as the sun was setting in the west, he could not help but tear up as he looked at the afterglow of the setting sun.
He was a poor man.
Yu Meng slowly walked up from behind Shang Hui and supported her, standing next to her.
In the past, Yu Meng had thought that people with the surname Shang weren’t good people. All of them were treacherous and crafty, harboring evil intentions in their hearts. But now, she felt that the people in the Shang family were all pitiful people. Such a big house was filled with countless secrets, all of which were formed from blood and tears.
They were clearly brothers, but they wanted to be enemies with each other. They were clearly a family, yet they had always hurt the other party the most.
They weren’t too bad, but they had lived in the darkness for too long, so they had forgotten that there was still warmth in the world.
“Shang Duo, do you really think that just by taking over my position, you can win the battle? You can reunite your parents? ” Shang Hui looked at the man on the ground. His face, which was similar to his own, was deathly still after a great tragedy, “To this day, I have never known who my mother is.”
In order to nurture him, Shang Wujin had chased away his mother when he was very young. Shang Wujin thought that if that woman was not kind to him, Shang Hui would be able to make him become a king who was as cold-blooded as himself.
However, his mother’s gentleness had entered his bloodstream from birth. No matter what, he couldn’t abandon her.
Shang Duo looked at Shang Hui in shock. After opening his mouth for a long time, he finally spoke a few words.
“But I still hate you.”
“Whatever.” Shang Hui never cared about whether or not people hated him. He laughed: “There are too many people in this world who hate me.”
Tan Yubai turned around and saw Yu Meng supporting Shang Hui and couldn’t help but frown.
“Allow me.”
He pulled Yu Meng’s hand out of Shang Hui’s arm and supported his with his own. His gaze landed on Shang Hui’s bloodied leg, and said indifferently: “I’ll send you to the hospital first.”
He raised his head to look at Yu Meng.
“Are you hurt?”
Yu Meng avoided Tan Yubai’s concerned eyes and walked over to stand on the other side of Shang Hui, supporting him.
Separated by Shang Hui, he said to Tan Yubai, “I’ll send him there.”
Tan Yubai was startled. Shang Hui shook off Tan Yubai’s hand and slowly walked into the distance with Yu Meng.
Shang Duo had calmed down a lot now, he watched coldly from the sidelines. When Tan Yubai walked forward to catch up with Yu Meng and the rest, he could not help but exclaim: “For this contract, you have given your woman to someone else. Tan Yubai, you are not smarter than me.”
Tan Yubai used Shang Duo, as well as Yu Meng.
Previously, he pretended to cooperate with Shang Duo and help him find Shang Hui’s whereabouts, but it was actually to borrow Shang Duo’s hands and ask him to hand over all the underworld resources in his hands.
These resources, were exactly what Tan Yubai needed right now.
So when Yu Meng left to look at Lina’s tombstone, Tan Yubai made his move, and lured Shang Duo here.
He had Shang Duo’s mother as his hostage, so Tan Yubai was confident that he wouldn’t let Yu Meng get hurt, but he had forgotten the most important thing. He had accidentally hurt her heart.
Looking at the distant figures of Yu Meng and Shang Hui, Tan Yubai’s voice could be heard in his ears. Tan Yubai clenched his fists and glanced at him coldly.
“Take care of yourself first.”
would not let Shang Duo off easily if he did not capture Shang Hui and Yu Meng, and they had even completely lost the important resources of the Shang Clan.
Tan Yubai left and went towards the direction of the car park. He drove over there and caught Yu Meng and Shang Hui who were slowly walking down the mountain.
The window rolled down and the sky turned dark.
“Get in.”
Yu Meng pretended not to hear and continued to support Shang Hui as they walked forward.
“If you let him walk down the mountain like this, he might die from blood loss if he can’t hold out in the hospital.”
Yu Meng looked at Shang Hui’s wound, it seemed like this was not the time for his to be so willful.
Tan Yubai once again drove the car forward a few metres, and stopped beside them.
“Get in the car.”
Shang Hui was already in so much pain that he couldn’t even speak. After getting on the carriage, his head tilted to the side and he fainted into Yu Meng’s arms.
“Shang Hui!” Yu Meng touched Shang Hui’s cold hands and felt his heart turn cold. She shouted anxiously to the front, “Hurry!”
Tan Yubai quietly stepped on the accelerator, and as the car sped away, he said a few words meaningfully.
“I’ll be jealous if you do this.”
Yu Meng stared blankly at him for a moment, and in the end she didn’t say anything. She only focused on grabbing onto Shang Hui’s hand, and looked at the pale man in her arms.
This person had never hesitated, putting her safety first and doing her best.
Shang Hui lost a lot of blood and after signing his name, he was sent to the emergency room.
After the emergency room door closed, Yu Meng suddenly pulled out all the strength from her body. She couldn’t help but fall backwards, and couldn’t even stand properly.
Tan Yubai was always by her side, but when he saw her fall backwards, he quickly reached out his hands to support her.
Yu Meng felt the warmth of the man’s palm and immediately struggled to push it away.
“Let me go.”
Tan Yubai was slightly startled, he supported Yu Meng and sat down, only then was he willing to let go of her.
“I’m sorry.”
He sat in the chair across from her. The two of them were quietly immersed in the bright incandescent light of a corridor that was neither too wide nor too narrow.
“This is the best solution.” Tan Yubai only said this sentence to summarize his actions.
Yu Meng felt even more disappointed.
When she was silent, he could not help but explain more.
That contract with Shang Hui’s signature, can allow me to control the merchant’s family. After all, we have experienced a lot, and I’m afraid that he might pester you and threaten you. I need to control something that can restrain them before I can be at ease.
Yu Meng raised her eyes slowly and couldn’t help but sneer.
“I’m the one who’s worried you too much, right?”
Tan Yubai pursed her lips, and couldn’t help but recall the worry and concern in her eyes when Yu Meng held Shang Hui on the carriage earlier. Her current state was enough to make a man who loved her go crazy.
But she didn’t feel it was wrong at all.
Tan Yubai’s eyebrows rose up. He closed his eyes for a while before slowly opening his eyes and speaking. His tone was filled with helplessness.
“You’re making me feel relieved by acting like this, aren’t you?”
Yu Meng looked at the man in front of her, her heart chilled.
She had wanted to live a good life with him countless times, to love him seriously and spend the rest of her life together.
However, he had broken her bottom line time and time again, putting her in a position where she didn’t know what to do.
“You used me.” After a long while, Yu Meng said word by word, “You’re still lying to me.”
