Maya was waking up from a horrible dream and it got even terrible when she was welcomed by Kalki.

Maya was looking at his normal face and thought he must have healed himself already.

As soon as Maya heard his words, she checks herself blankly. She looks at the small scratches on her hands and her right hand fingers are bruised. There were even small cuts in them which resulted when she picked the metal arrows hurriedly.

She mumbles rolling her eyes “Not much…”

‘It’s nothing from what I have seen yesterday. Wait… How long was I unconscious?’

She tries to look out but it’s still dark and she doesn’t know whether it’s night or dawn of next day already!

Kalki remains nonchalant and speaks looking at her cheek “Your face”.

Maya’s hand subconsciously reached her cheek as she noticed his eyes on her face and feels it has swollen.

Maya blinks dumbly “…” How could I be so harsh on myself?

Kalki states “Name”.

Maya looks at him dumbly “Hmm?”

Kalki states “The one who did that”.

Maya’s eyes widened slightly as she realizes his statement was a question.

She gulps feeling troubled “….”

‘The one slapped my face? How could I tell him that that was me? Would that make sense? Wouldn’t he think I turned insane? But why is he asking for the person who hit me? Since when…’

She blurts “I …*clears throat* run into a tree…while following Prince Xavier”.

Kalki “…” Anyone could tell that was a lie.

But Kalki chooses to not ask her further. If she doesn’t want to say anything why would he bother? It’s not like she is his wife for real.

He just wanted to know who would dare to hurt the person under him.

Kalki forwards something in his hand and Maya finds a small pouch made of some expensive cloth material.

It shines even in the darkness so, she thought it might be expensive.

She looks at him questioningly as she doesn’t know why is he giving her the pouch.

Kalki states “You saved many people. These are Royal Badges. You can use them as money or privilaged badges till you stay here”.

Maya asks almost accusingly “You won’t give those, if I didn’t save you?”

Kalki states in next second “Why would I?”

He didn’t even think a bit and remains calm after his crisp ‘answer’.

Seeing his straight answer she huffs swatting his hand away “It’s nothing serious. Keep those with you”.

Maya is mad.

Kalki stares his own hands which received a grave humiliation in disbelief.

‘Did she just… neglect my effort? How dare she?!’

His previous thoughts were shattered at this moment. Since this morning he was in deep thoughts and it was about a single regret.

He felt himself uneasonable as he thought of everyone before and left Edits to help them incase he didn’t return alive from the war. He never even thought of her before leaving to The Southern Realm. But to the contrast, no one was in his mind when he returned from there.

All his mind was on her as he didn’t left anything behind for her.

To the woman, who saved him twice and his people more than twice. How would he forget those two almost death experiances?

To the woman, who stood in places behalf of him whenever she was fighting. How could he forget how she stood for his people so many times? How could he forget that she even fought those men with cursed water?

To the woman, who used to fear him so much before but now even dared to swat his hands away!

His eyes turns dark while finished his final thoughts.

How could he forget this humiliation too!

He shouldn’t have treated her good!

But the guilt was still there in some corner. Because he promised.

He promised that he will help her find the way to close The Cold Prison.

With no idea about his flow of thoughts, Maya mutters “I must have turned insane to help you!”

She sighs ignoring his stern face and asks reluctantly “Did..anyone notice?”

‘Those arrows turned into dust! How could anyone believe that was normal? He would taunt me for exposing my powers! I didn’t think before I act but how can I watch everyone dying?’

Kalki is irked that she is not fearing him instead she is rolling her eyes at him.

His voice came colder than he thought “What?”

She speaks still hesitating “I…made those arrows-”

“How?”

She frowns and speaks doubtfully “I just said them to burn into ashes and they did”.

Maya too freezes in sudden thought.

‘Wait… Did he not know about that yet?! Did I inform him about this myself? This is embarassing… Why am I telling him everything before he asks?!’

She opens her eyes wide in sudden realization and purses her lips.

For some reason she doesn’t want to talk about the Empress from future. Her mind says her so. And there is this immense satisfaction in her heart at this moment which made her wonder what could be the reason.

‘Is it because I saved him? Or.. Is it because I fought first time in a war? But I don’t like to fight anymore. That is too horrible”.

Kalki states “I didn’t hear any serious news. However, I can’t kill my people just because they witnessed something weird”.

Maya insists in disbelief “I burnt all those arrows in mid air at once! It turned into ashes even before it hit anyone! Nobody would find it normal!”.

Kalki speaks keeping the pouch on a wooden table near her bed “I heard them speak the enemies were stupid to soak the arrows too long in oil-”

Maya is shocked “What?”

He looks at him to see whether he is lying but his face remained same. Nonchalant.

She slaps her face by her palm “So stupid!”

Kalki states “Not as stupid as you”.

Maya fumes “You!”

“Maya!”

She freezes hearing Xavier and looks at Kalki in shock.

Kalki frowns confused ‘Wait… Why does she look like she was caught while stealing something?’
