Maya smiles “Of course”.

Xavier speaks almost desperately “I like you too”.

Maya is speechless “….” O_O

He is anxious. Once they return to the Royal Palace, he would be asked to marry the Princess of the Southern Realm. He has to know Maya’s heart before he takes a decision.

Maya is baffled by his straight words and couldn’t help feel fl.u.s.tered.

But she wants to know why and she asks “Why?”.

He smiles while his eyes searched her face deeply “Because you are beautiful, kind, talented and brave. Your presence makes me happy”.

‘And I want you to walk out of this marriage so that I could protect and love you forever’.

He could only gulp those lines. He doesn’t want to pressure her for his situation.

Maya is ecstatic hearing him and blushes.

Xavier asks hesitantly evethough he knew her answer “Do you like being in this marriage?”

He just wanted to know whether her decision changed in this short time.

She coughs, choking the bread with his sudden question.

He hands her the water.

She asked irked “Why would you ask that? You know my situation, Sir and you know the answer to”.

Xavier asks intently “Would you walk out of this marriage once the country is peaceful?”

Maya asks him blankly “Why wouldn’t I? Do you think I couldn’t?”

Xavier takes a deep breath before asking the question on which his life depends on “I …would you marry me if you get free from this marriage?”

“…”

Maya freezes and stares at him in shock. Her heart is a mess and her brain wouldn’t work.

She blurts out the first thought that came into her mind subconsciously “Why would I marry a Prince again? Isn’t the current situation enough of a lesson for me?”

Xavier’s heart just crushed ruthlessly at her genuine question.

She laughs awkwardly expecting him to laugh too but his expressionless face made her stomach drop.

‘Wasn’t that a joke?’

Unaware of his shattered heart, she felt deep regret for some reason and spoke carefully “Sir… I thought you were ..just joking..”

Xavier speaks dryly and manages to smile “You could have agreed at least as a joke” And laughs making Maya sigh relaxed.

“Oh! You scared me, Sir! I thought you were mad at me again”.

Xavier smiles warmly “Why would I?” And laughs lightly.

Maya smiles yet there was a strong feeling in her heart that made her restless about his words. And she finds his smile strange today as it bothered her more. His smile was not like before.

But she chooses to ignore it.

‘Why would he even think of marrying me? He must have joked and why would he want to complicate everything by marrying- Wait, Maya! You are overthinking. If that happens wouldn’t Celina’s words become true?’

She gets sad and feels troubled ‘I should have said yes at least for a joke… And yes… If not for the situation…I would have agreed to marry him’

She lets out a snort mockingly ‘Ha! I even agreed to marry That Crown Prince then why not Prince Xavier? He is far better than him! *sigh* Why is he the one got the powers? If Prince Xavier had those powers… how wonderful that would have been…’

She had no idea about what this small regret will turn in future. If she knew, she would have proposed to him at once without waiting for any misunderstandings to develop.

Maya finishes her food and stands looking outside “We should go. It’s still early and you have to rest. I apologize for disturbing your sleep-“.

In her own world of thoughts she fails to notice the sudden change in Xavier.

Maya stops as she felt Xavier’s absence beside her and at the same time she felt her wrist being held. She looked back as Xavier held her hand and he was looking down as if thinking something deeply.

Maya asks “What is it?”

Xavier keeps an edict in her hand and declares “Xander asked to say that the thing you search for is in The Countryside Pavilion in your chamber. You can find more information if you read this”.

Maya opens her eyes wide and looks at the edict in her hand.

‘Is this about Bhommi? Of course, it should be! But why would the horseman know about Bhommi? Was he ordered by the Crown Prince? I should ask-‘

To her surprise, Xavier leaves the place without even looking at her.

Maya is feeling guilty “…” Is he that busy? He should be… He must have been exhausted…I even disturbed his sleep.

Maya felt his behaviour strange but the edict in her hands stole her attention. She opened the edict but she couldn’t read or identify a single letter written on it.

Maya felt like screaming loud and smack Kalki’s head.

All she could do is sigh frustrated and roll the edict. She bites her lips in suspicion and walks out of the place towards Kalki’s tent.

‘Why would he give this to the horseman and then to Prince Xavier instead of giving it to me directly? Only if this Edict was given by The Crown Prince. But who would send me an edict through Prince Xavier other than him?’.

She enters the tent and finds the tent empty.

She tilts her head “If this is about Bhommi, he must not have written everything openly. He might have sent me this as a hint? Still… why would he send this through the horseman and then Prince Xavier?’

She realizes something suddenly ‘Wait… he was sick before. How could he have sent me this in this short time? Then… he must have sent this earlier. He knew I would search for Bhommi and …”.

She looks around and sighs “That’s why he left this edict? He must have not expected my appearance here and yet decided to tell me about Bhommi?”

She smirks and nods appreciating “He is…quite thoughtful this time…Then… He… had no intention of asking my help to cure him?”
