The Commoner Consort: The Country’s Respected Empress - Chapter 256
Maya stands slowly and pats her dress. She looks at the cave longingly and mumbles “When would you speak? It’s been a decade already… ”
She smiles as she remembers how the lion helped her yesterday. She laughs heartily as she speaks “It took a decade to even take a step to help me! No worries… I can wait”.
She looks at the cave mysteriously “I can wait forever… ”
‘Just to see you take a single step towards me. I will make sure you run to me in desperate need. You will beg for me to talk again and that’s when I will pinch your fluffy cheeks!!! Wait and watch how I trick you in a few months! I can sense it won’t take much time this time’
She starts her usual strolling around the forest. She is on her way to a waterfall where she regularly bathes. She looks at the plant that she saved yesterday and grins “Good! You have survived! I like the survivors!”
Her day started happily and she reached the waterfall in a few moments. She removes her outer robe and dives right into the water.
She swims under the waterfall. She enjoys going deep under the waterfall where she gets to see a tiny snake hiding inside a cave.
She will check it regularly and will make sure it gets warmer. For some reason, the snake wouldn’t come out and just remains curled. She would wonder when it would eat. Seeing it still there as usual she swims back to the top.
She reaches the ground and dries her clothes using her powers. She is lost in thoughts as she combed her thick wet hairs with her fingers. She even forgot to dry her hair using her powers today.
“Goddess”
Maya jumps in fright and looks around in horror “…” Goddess who? Wait. Who is talking in this forest other than me?!
She turns to see a man kneeling with his head bowed.
She must say he looked…. physically blessed.
She watches the man in front of her in a daze as it was her first time to see a talking person in a decade. She is intrigued and asks “You are?”.
The man speaks hurriedly “It’s time to leave this forest, Goddess. I will wait for you at the very end of the forest”.
With that said he stands and leaves immediately stunning Maya.
Maya finally realizes something and gasps in surprise “…” Am I going back home?
Maya is standing in front of the cave hesitantly. She fiddles her fingers and speaks in a tiny voice “Lony? I…think…I have to leave now… I know it doesn’t matter for you. But I …am going only because I need to. I might be back soon but…you know what might be the situation there… It might take time as well… I… I will return with something special for you”.
SILENCE
She purses her lips as she met with dead silence. She huffs looking down and stomps the ground helplessly. Her shoulders dropped in disappointment as she mumbles “So you don’t care after all…”.
She walks towards the end of the forest sadly. She didn’t expect she would be summoned back today.
So soon. A decade felt too short for her.
She looks at a huge white flower in her way and stops. She sits ċȧrėssing the flower and she smiles finding it so beautiful. She looks around the forest and her heartaches by the thought of leaving this place.
It was a temporary stay till her parents found a solution to ‘treat’ her.
She speaks slowly, finally revealing the truth to the forest “My parents … They believe I shouldn’t have powers of more than any one Element. When they witnessed my power of Water and Fire elements, they were worried that people in that world would find me strange. In the end, there will always be chaos when someone is more powerful than the other. Moreover, I am the only one like this”.
She smiles bitterly and her eyes are empty. She doesn’t know what to feel.
“Even my parents believed something was wrong with me and so they decided to keep me away till they found some way to remove one of my Power Elements”.
She purses her lips and whispers sadly “But I like them! I don’t want to give away either. I really wish there is no way they can separate my Elements from me”.
Maya, who was unaware of her parents’ thoughts, believed whatever they told her.
She left her home with a smile as she was told that her parents will pick her up when they find the solution for her situation.
But the truth is something else. Unfortunately, Maya is oblivious of any truths.
Maya found this weird. Why would having an extra power element be dangerous?
Maya sighs looking up at the dark sky “I know I’m not sick like others think yet I left without a word. That day…they broke into my chamber saying they will perform some ritual to cure me”.
She feels her eyes sting and her face is as cold as ice. The surroundings around her turn colder.
Until that day she was just frustrated as she would be dragged all over the places.
But that day terrified her to the core.
She speaks struggling to remain calm as she recalled that past “They… tried to behead me! If not for my power element… they would have succeeded…”
That’s why she left their world without any hesitation. She believed she would be abandoned after seeing herself in this Dark Forest.
But this forest gave her immense peace instead of a feeling of abandonment. She felt so secured after suffering in the hands of her people.
She has never been so happy even with her parents. She was forbidden from everything. She never had the liberty she had in this Dark Forest.
Her parents almost confined her in a hall telling her that she might expose her powers to others. They don’t want to scare others or bring danger to Maya.
