The Copy Mage - Chapter 232: Combo Attack
After seeing Damian disappear into thin air in order to dodge their attack, Milo and Julia didn’t know what to think and also couldn’t understand how that was possible.
However, despite their curious thoughts, they had no time to wonder about how exactly Damian was capable of such things and continued their onslaught of attacks.
Seeing that her plan to use her ultimate attack against Damian once he was backed into a corner and tired out by Milo wasn’t successful, she decided to switch her strategy.
Focusing on close combat during her training with Matilda, not wanting to have a big and obvious weakness, their fighting and close combat capabilities had improved greatly.
Not wanting to waste her energy or rely on Milo, Julia joined in on their battle and Damian was facing attacks from both Milo, and Julia who was wielding Water Blades.
She was no longer able to sustain her water armour after using a large amount of energy in her ultimate attack, but Milo was taking on most of Damian’s attacks and they fought together perfectly.
Damian was only able to keep up with both of them with the Shadow Speed Technique and the Adaptive Fighting Style that he had created, but he knew that if it continued like that, he would end up losing.
He needed an opening or something that would break their chain of attacks and allow him to turn the tides of the battle and switch to adopting a Mage Combat Style.
The opening he was looking for appeared as they heard Matilda let out a cry of pain before collapsing backwards after being struck in the face by Kong’s knee strike.
Milo and Julia couldn’t help but subconsciously turn around to see what had occurred for an instant, before turning back to Damian, but when they did, he had already bolted away from them.
The fraction of a second that he needed to get away from them appeared itself and Damian didn’t allow anything to distract him while engaging in an intense battle.
Not only had Damian been impressively taking them both on and blocking or dodging most of their attacks, but he had also been communicating with Kong telepathically.
Along with that, they could both tell what the other was feeling and thinking to an extent and both agreed on their next plan of action.
Taking on both Milo and Julia in close combat would only tire out Damian and not get him anywhere, while Cole was the same, especially with his Hardening Ability.
However, if Kong and Damian were to team up, and fight how they usually would, with Damian fighting as a Mage, and Kong distracting and fending off the opponents, they would be able to take them down much easier.
They weren’t ordinary opponents and weren’t to be underestimated with all of them being on par with the likes of Clay, so Damian made sure to take their battle seriously.
Cole was even more wild and eager to face Kong, but was surprised and annoyed to find that the small monkey was dashing over to Damian and they were opening up their battlefield.
Both Damian and Kong during their own battles had been pushed back and forced into a corner of the hall that they were fighting in, but they wanted to change that.
With more space, Kong could make the most of his speed and smaller form, while Damian could also use his Mage Skils that he had practised and developed to the point that they were on par or even greater than his close combat fighting capabilities.
Seeing what they were doing, Milo and Julia wanted to group up with Cole, but he had become too enthralled and stimulated by their battle, charging towards them, no longer able to control himself.
That was exactly what Damian and Kong were hoping for, and if they were split up, they would be much easier to pick off and handle.
Fire Javelin
Forming a long rod with a sharp tip out of Fire Energy, Damian flung them towards Cole and they landed in front of him.
They seemed to have missed the targets, but that was exactly what Damian was aiming for and just as Cole was about to charge past them, they suddenly exploded.
Damian had been controlling when they combusted and used explosive energy to produce them.
Being launched to the side and shocked by the sudden explosion, Cole didn’t see a kick coming from Kong who had been launched towards him by Damian.
In his small form, Kong could be held in one hand and while throwing him with all the power he could generate in his arm, Damian also formed a small explosion in his hand, propelling Kong towards Cole at unbelievable speeds.
Even with his hardening, such force that was generated was enough to harm, while Kong had also created additional force by transforming into his larger form and releasing a burst just before his attack.
Cole was flung flying backwards and slammed into the wall, instantly also losing consciousness.
If it wasn’t for his hardening and naturally large and tough body, that attack would be enough to crack his skull, and he couldn’t dampen the shock that his head experienced from the attack enough to not be knocked out.
Damian and Kong only used it because they knew just how powerful Cole’s hardening was and that left two opponents for them to take down.
With their telepathic communication, powerful capabilities and great combat prowess, Kong and Damian seemed to be an invincible duo, but Julia and Milo were still eager to take them down.
They were sure that Damian and Kong must have been tired out and drained after so long and were also confident in their own abilities.
They had called out to Cole and urged him to calm down and wait for them, so that they could support him, but his ability had caused him to forget about everything other than his desire to battle.
It granted him great power and the hardening ability, but the berserk state he would enter was a great drawback, but could also be regarded as a positive of the ability.
Either way, he had been taken down and they could only rely on themselves.
