The Copy Mage - Chapter 233: Quick Thinking
“They have great teamwork and combo attacks. While they are both capable and dangerous individually. Our only choice is to wake up Matilda. I will hold them off, while you go and try to get Matilda to wake up. The blow she took wasn’t as severe as that of Cole, so she should be able to wake up,” said Milo.
He needed to think logically and Julia agreed with his decision and did as he said, leaving Damian and Kong for him to occupy.
Kong returned to Damian’s side and fist-bumped Damian in his larger form, both amazed and impressed by the power of their joint attack.
[They seem to be planning on waking up Matilda, which is a smart choice, and they are expecting us to try to stop them and Milo is planning on holding us back. However, instead, we will take down Milo and then take down Julia and Matilda, if they manage to wake her up] planned Damian within his mind.
Kong nodded his head, hearing what Damian was thinking within his mind.
With that, Kong approached Milo, while Milo did the same and was cautious of Damian who was keeping his distance and very unpredictable.
[Go, in your large form and being exchanging attacks with Milo, and I will support you from a distance and find an opportunity to strike him] communicated Damian to Kong.
Although Damian had many things that he was working on and training, he had also not slacked off on training his skill in wielding fire energy and had created quite a few more Mage Skills.
Fire Beam was one of them.
By compressing fire energy as much as he could into a ball in between his hands, while making sure to contain it and keep it within his hands, he could then release it in a specific direction and it would release a Beam of Fire Energy.
It was similar to Julia’s ultimate attack and Damian was planning on mimicking how Julia and Milo had nearly taken him down with their plan.
However, unfortunately for Milo, he wasn’t able to enter a Shadow Form like Damian could and was unlikely to be able to dodge it.
While Damian could also communicate with Kong telepathically, which made it so that their attack and plan would be much more coherent and well-timed than theirs.
Kong engaged in close combat with Milo, while he blocked his vision of Damian who was preparing a powerful attack to take him down.
In that time, Julia had reached Matilda and began shaking her, then poured a large amount of water over her face, which she produced with her ability.
She move at all let alone wake up, however just as Julia was about to give up on their plan and go and support Milo, Matilda suddenly jumped up.
“That damned monkey,”
Looking at Cole who was unconscious and slumped against the wall and seeing Kong fighting with Milo, while Damian prepared some sort of fire attack, Matilda instantly gained an understanding of how the battle was going.
“We cannot lose when we had the advantage in numbers and felt very confident in the beginning. Let’s do this,”
Matilda wasn’t previously as determined, fearless and driven as she was at the moment previously, and the event with the mercenaries and realising how cruel the world of cultivators was, she began to change just like the others.
Hearing Matilda’s passionate and determined words, Julia and Milo felt as though all the fatigue they were feeling disappeared and their battle intent was reignited.
A single moment was able to affect the battle greatly and Damian saw it, but was planning to crush their newly found determination by taking down Milo.
‘Now’ communicated Damian to Kong as he released the Fire Beam that he had been preparing.
As soon as he received the signal, Kong switched into his smaller form and jumped high into the air as he felt a wave of heat pass below him along with a rush of flames.
However, Matilda who had regained consciousness saw the attack coming and had already begun trying to get close to Milo with Julia, wanting to help him handle the attack.
It was too late to attempt to block or deflect the attack, and they were unsure whether they would be able to even if they wanted to, however, Matilda didn’t give up.
If it hit Milo, the result of their battle would be decided, but Matilda wasn’t planning on letting that happen.
Since Kong had held back during his attack, since Matilda was the kindest and friendliest towards him and also didn’t want to hurt her too much, she was almost perfectly fine.
Her nose was broken and the shock and impact of the strike had caused her to lose consciousness, but she was the least fatigued out of them all and ready to rejoin the battle.
Releasing a small Sonic Cry Beam that focused on speed, Matilda didn’t aim for Damian or his attack.
Instead, she aimed for Milo, and it struck him just before the Fire Beam was about to strike his stomach, since Matilda focused on speed and was also closer to Milo than where Damian fired the attack from.
Milo didn’t dodge the attack completely unscathed and was struck by Matilda’s Sonic Cry Beam, along with having his right side grazed by Damian’s flames and burnt.
However, compared to the damage he would have sustained if he attempted to take on Damian’s attack head-on, it wasn’t much.
Damian was impressed by matilda’s quick thinking and he had poured a lot of energy into that Fire Beam, wanting to take down Milo, since he was the most difficult to face out of all of them.
“A fatigued guy and a monkey, against three less fatigued individuals that are slightly injured. Who will come out on top?” said Damian, just as determined to win as his opponents.
Hearing that, Julia, Milo and Matilda who had grouped up, smiled and prepared themselves to surpass their limits and make sure they were able to take down Damian.
