The Copy Mage - Chapter 237: Making It To The Finish Line
There were a measly 15 minutes left and reaching the finish line in that short amount of time seemed impossible for them, especially after all the energy they had used.
Trevor, Larry and their groups had already given up on trying to finish the round, since it was clear to them that they wouldn’t make it in time.
A single student, Damian had managed to hold them all back long enough to take them out of the competition and Damian’s friends had already reached the finish line, along with most of the other students that had gone past.
They were annoyed and angry at Damian, but they would have the opportunity to get him back in the Inner Academy that was very different to the Inner Academy, and they had also managed to stop him from reaching the finish line.
Or so they believed.
Damian suddenly released a burst of speed and rushed off into the distance with unbelievable speed that they hadn’t expected and couldn’t keep up with.
Before he did, he said goodbye to them and that it had been fun playing with them.
Using Shadow Energy and the Shadow Speed Technique, Damian rushed towards the finish line and by his estimations, he should be able to make it even after all the energy he used.
Damian wasn’t only relying on his Internal Energy to pull off such speed and it was his External Cultivation that allowed him to move so quickly and maintain such speeds without harming himself.
They couldn’t help but be amazed by Damian’s sudden burst of speed and the fact that he could use such speed even after all the energy he used, but they still didn’t believe that he could make it.
However, even if he didn’t make it, it infuriated them to feel inferior and toyed with by Damian, while all the elders watching couldn’t help but also be shocked.
Even they were unsure how exactly Damian was able to pull off such speed and he wasn’t using any special Movement Skill, and appeared to be using some sort of enhancement technique.
The Great Elder who was watching and the main overseer of the examination knew that whatever Damian was using wasn’t something within the Academy Library, or it was one of the two things he had previously gotten from the library.
The golden scroll and the unreadable, old, black book.
He was right to assume that, but he massively underestimated what Damian had gained from them and would continue to learn from them, while they both had great origins that far surpassed the Gobe Country.
Trevor, Larry and their followers quite the round and their positions within the Inner Academy were guaranteed, but they were enraged by the fact that they couldn’t get any rewards from the examination and it was all because of Damian.
They went over to the arena where the next round of the examination would take place and were expecting Damian to fail, believing he wouldn’t be able to maintain that speed all the way to the end.
However, they were mistaken, and Damian was drenched in sweat and drained, but he still dashed as fast as he could towards the finish line.
He could hear the timer counting down and he had 10 seconds left to cover the 500 metres that were left, but he suddenly felt as though his body was frozen and stuck in place.
Looking up in the watching stands, he could see Elder Ray glaring at him and he seemed to be responsible for what he was experiencing.
[Damn it. I am so close and there isn’t any proof of him stopping me, so I have to try to beat it myself] Damian thought to himself, feeling as though there was a great pressure bearing down on him that was stopping him from moving.
His friends and the elders could see that something was wrong, and I seemed fine and as though I was about to finish in the nick of time, but my sudden halt was unusual.
However, they couldn’t find the reason behind what was occurring to him and it seemed helpless for Damian, who no matter how much he struggled, was not able to move at a fast enough speed to make in time.
‘You think you can do as you want to arrogantly within this academy and get in the way of my son and my family. I will show you’ thought Elder Ray to himself.
He was so focused on bearing down his power and aura over Damian, using a skill that allowed him to place a pressure over a small area from a distance, that he wasn’t aware of his surroundings.
It was a difficult to skill to pull off and not many knew of it or were able to use it, but Kong who had a mental connection with Damian knew exactly what was occurring and with great speed, climbed up to where Elder Ray was.
Damian, able to sense Kong’s intentions, smiled as he prepared himself to make it to the finish line in the few seconds that he had left after Kong freed him from whatever was restricting his movement.
Kong didn’t use much power, but launched himself towards Elder Ray and kicked his face, rattling the elder who was more focused on stopping Damian.
In that instant, he lost control over the skill he was using and Damian who had been preparing himself for that moment, suddenly released a giant burst from his feet and made it over the finish line with half a second to spare.
[Thanks Kong, now quickly get away from him] Damian said to him telepathically, but it was too late.
Elder Ray was not only annoyed that Damian had been freed of his control, but had also been hit in the face by a mere Monkey Beast pet.
Grabbing Kong before he could get away, Kong was very much defenceless against someone as powerful as an elder as he struggled to get out of his grip.
