The Craftsman - Chapter 480 A Meeting with an Old Friend
Daedalus didn’t know how long he had been watching this solar system grow. There were twelve planets with countless moons.
Daedalus had found that he enjoyed watching the civilisations on the planet, Quarth, learn and develop. Quarth was the planet that the moon Warth orbited, and many species had developed intelligence of some degree or another.
Warth itself was still developing its atmosphere but it had grown significantly, now covering half the ice field and a large area of stone. With the atmosphere collecting heat the ice field began to slowly melt giving the organisms that lived there a working independent ecosystem. So Daedalus was made an observer again as life developed.

Daedalus didn’t know how long it had been, but the civilisations on Quarth had developed into three main groups. One had developed primitive energy manipulation, they absorbed some energy but it didn’t allow their bodies to reproduce the energy and would disappear after one use.
The second had developed tools and armour to even the playing field, and the third had overwhelming strength to the point they hadn’t developed either. Daedalus knew that unless the third changed how they thought they would go extinct.
What caught Daedalus’ eye however was the second group. They where incredibly similar to humans except they had a natural flexible armour, and sharp nails and claws. The only reason they developed tools and armour was to increase their natural abilities.

Daedalus was very lonely, he had been able to ignore it for so long but it was impossible to ignore after so long. So he used a device he had which connected to Andromeda to send her a signal to where he was.
They had agreed to only use it in emergencies or another equally important reason. Daedalus felt depression was a good enough reason.
Then, time stopped, and Hephaestus appeared sitting on a small outcropping beside Daedalus. Neither said anything for a while. Then Hephaestus said “Did you know that you have become a god? You have been a god for quite a while now…”
After taking a second Hephaestus continues “I only tell you now because you have experienced a fraction of the loneliness I have felt in my life. Immortality is not a gift to everyone, you need a purpose Daedalus. You may have learned a lot from observing this solar system but you need to grow stronger there are beings stronger than me.”
Daedalus nodded and said “Guess I won’t send the message to Andromeda then. Can you point me in the direction of the nearest populated star with people I would be above average with? I wouldn’t mind a challenge.”
Hephaestus smiled before pointing in the opposite direction of the star they where near, and said “Just go that way for a bout ten years and you’ll arrive, I’ll help you out for your entrance though seeing as you want to start small. I’ll make you invisible for one day after your arrival so that you can orient yourself safely. Good luck.”
