The Croesus’ Bride [Completed] - 102 Chapter 29
Camila Almada’s POV
I never thought that the court would be on my side again. And when I was walking inside the court yesterday, I saw that Nicolas was safe and sound. I hope to protect him but now I was the one that will bring him down.
“Camila,” someone called my name and it was Adam Florenz, of course. I went to look at him before I stood up and I handed him my wrists. They think that I was still a danger, a threat to them when Adam handcuffed me and we were walking out of the cell.
“I heard it will be announced your result today,” he said as he was making a little chit chat. I know that he did not like to talk to me but what could have changed him?
“Oh yeah, cool. I hope I could walk out of here will never be in another cell,” I said sarcastically before Adam snickered at me.
“No wonder he likes you,” he said under his breath but I caught what he was mumbling about.
“Who?” I asked him before Adam shook his head and he let me go with one final warning.
“If you hurt him, you will have to say it to me,” he said as he was gripping my wrists for impact. I smirked at him.
“Well, if anyone makes him unhappy, I will make them pay,” I said before I walked into the courtroom again. Everyone was there. Val, Alicia, Nicolas, and someone that I was not expected to be there. I thought he was half across the way of the Atlantic Ocean. I looked at Val but he just shrugged.
“What is your father doing here?” I asked him after we were seated by the judge. It was an awkward situation where my freedom was entirely up to him.
“Relax, everything will be fine, and besides, since he likes you, he will let you go,” he said as he was looking at the prosecutor. She was so determined to bring us down but I think she was not as she seems.
“Do you know who she is?” I asked him as she looked at us. Val laughed before covered it as a cough. The prosecutor was narrowing her eyes on Val before he was arranging some of the papers.
“Well, if you excuse me, Ms. Almada, I have a court case to win,” he said and what he did the next was surprising to the court, especially the prosecutor.
“Last night, I have come across something interesting. But of course, I thought, why would I bother with such thing,” Val started as he showed some warehouse and some guns and daggers. It was familiar but I did not place it where.
“These are some of the standard-issue guns and daggers that were registered under an organization that will remain unnamed. It has died since a year ago when a particular case was uncovered. The death of Mr. Burgess in Scotland.” Val said as he looked at me and the prosecutor.
“Objection!”
“But, of course, you all would be surprised by the discovery that this organization was gone, off the grid until I discovered this,” Val said before he played the video that showed the prosecutor was being paid by the man and woman that I knew as Nicolas’ dad and Lucia Ricci, his mistress. They were talking and drinking as if nothing was wrong by bribing the prosecutor.
“Objection!”
“Overruled,” the old man said that I have to roll my eyes at him. It was so good to hear his voice again.
“And with that, I concluded my speech, thank you,” Val said before the jury was looking at the prosecutor and she was smiling nervously.
“You will pay for this, I swear, you will!” She was yelling at the top of her lungs as the guards were escorting her out. Adam Florenz was overseeing her arrest as I was being released from my punishment.
“Well, I would say another day, another achievement,” Val said as he was smiling smugly at me. I elbowed him before he laughed at me.
“Well, I hate to be a party popper but why you did not tell that your father will be overseeing us today?” I had to ask him as he shrugged.
“I don’t know, maybe the organization was gone but not their spirit. And I think this was the last time that he will be in public anyway,” he said as he was checking his phone. seriously, this guy with his technology. He was smiling when he looked at it before he closed it. I looked at him before I arched my eyebrow as he was blushing.
I cannot believe Valentino Bianchi was blushing!
Then, I saw what he was looking at. It was Alicia, Nicolas’ cousin before she went outside. I was trying to see if he will be following her but I guess he was not that interested in her now than yesterday.
Someone’s getting laid.
I chuckled before Valentino was looking at me. He was about to speak to me before a shadow was coming from behind me.
“May I have a word?” It was the old man and Val was cursing under his breath before he went out of the way. I turned to look at the old man, Alfred. It has been a year since I saw him when Mia was first to get out of the Femme Fatale organization. And I was not sure there was any more.
I mean, Alina followed her afterward after she got married and then Sabrina was off to America and maybe Anna was still with him. But I guess that would not be possible for her to be left alone in Italy, unless…
“Have you come to say goodbye?” I asked him as he was looking at me. His expression was soft but I saw that he nodded at me.
“Yes, child. I have come to say goodbye, I don’t think my time will be much longer anymore,” he said as he was looking at Val who was talking to Nicolas.
“Well, I see that you have found you’re betrothed after all. Was he charming like a year ago when you ran away from him?” He asked me as I looked at Nicolas. He was thanking Val and Adam for not giving up on his evidence and how it helped to get me away from the punishment that was not mine.
“Eh, still cocky but I guess I liked him just fine. Maybe I have to open up my eyes for a bit and he went through my heart,” I said as I was crossing my hands as I looked at Alfred. He smiled at me before he patted his hand onto my back.
“Go to him, and we will talk later then,” he said before he called for Val and they went inside the courtroom or maybe it just looked like it. Maybe they will be gone without a trace again.
“Believe me, my parents can get a little insane. I cannot believe I have to go to America,” Adam said before he spotted me and went out of our way. I guess he still not used to me.
“Well, I can see that your friend was not fond of me already,” I said as I was looking at Nicolas. He smirked before he drew me closer by my waist. I have longed for his touch, his warmth and now that I can have it all for myself, I sighed in content.
“Well, it’s better that way than I have to kill one of my friends for your attention,” he said as he was nuzzling my neck. I giggled at him.
“Let’s get out of here,” he said as he looked at me. His light brown orbs were always mesmerized to me.
“And go where?” I asked him.
“Anywhere in the world that you wanted. Paris, Rome, Helsinki, anywhere and I shall take you there,” he said as he was looking at me, caressing my cheeks. I thought about it before something else came to mind.
“Well, there is one thing,” I said before I smiled at him.
“This is not how I imagine it would be,” Nicolas said as he was looking at me and where we were. We were at the cemetery where my parents and his mother was buried. I have come to pay my respect to them.
“Oh hush now, I wanted to say goodbye and maybe a blessing from your mother,” I said as I was praying for them to rest in peace at last. He scoffed at me before he drew me in his arms after I finished and we were walking toward the church.
“Well, I think I have a better idea as well,” he said as he went to the front door and he talked to the priest. I was fascinated by the way that he introduced me to the priest and asked him to officiate our union.
“Do you take Nicolas Garcia as your lawfully wedded husband, in sickness and health, in poor and rich, until the death shall apart you?” He asked me as I was looking at Nicolas. I was holding his hand before I smiled and said the word ‘I DO’. Nicolas smirked at me before the priest resumed.
“Do you take Camila Almada as your lawfully wedded husband, in sickness and health, in poor and rich, until the death shall apart you?” He asked Nicolas as he was smirking down on me.
“I DO,” he said.
“with the power vested on me that was assigned by the Portuguese government, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride,” he said and with that Nicolas sealed me with a kiss as a new beginning as his wife.
