The Croesus’ Bride [Completed] - 123 Chapter 19
Flora Kent’s POV
I should haven’t care when Celine said that she was betrothed to Danial Summer. I shouldn’t have those feelings lurking in the shadow, wanting to get out and gave her a piece of my mind that Danial Summer was mine.
Was. Because I have lost him and I would never find him again.
And because the fact that I was betrothed to Daniel Hekatos, a mere stranger that I met in Albania and will be getting away from my past was the key to my happiness.
If only that was so easy to accomplish.
Instead, I was sighing when I was tempted to call Danial. I wanted to tell him that I missed him and I have been waiting for him to come to get me. Maybe hacked into my new identity and claimed me.
Only he did not. Damn him!
I was looking at his profile and identity when he landed in Albania. I have been keeping track of where he was. I wondered if he did the same to me. He was a good hacker, I gave him that but he never does something horrible with that skill of his.
‘Someone could get hurt,’ was his go-to motto whenever we might be doing something dangerous in the past. When I was in his sight and nothing else mattered.
But it has changed and I think I made that change upon us.
I clicked to close the tab as I was feeling the strain in my eyes. It has been a hellish day as Celine came to visit and I was looking at some of the emails before I decided to write to Val.
He said that I can write anything to him as he was being a big brother that I never had. I liked him a lot and his wife was very nice. I might be going to visit them one of these days.
But not tonight, I was so tired that I was slouching in front of my computer as I was waiting for something to happen.
Anything!
Not Danial Summer.
Gosh, even their name was the same pronunciation. I cannot think that I would fall for someone with the same name as my ex. Was I proud of it? Of course not! It would only add more fire to my yearning of Danial Summer and Daniel Hekatos was not the person that I wanted to move on with.
Gosh, what was wrong with me?!
I was ready to move on with Daniel but with the thought of Celine to be in the arms of my former lover, I might have to kill somebody tonight. I was gripping the mouse too tightly as I was typing away some of the raw expression that I can conjure up right now. I wanted to tell someone and that some were Valentino Bianchi, my damn boss.
Officially, my life was ruined. I let my boss know that I was infuriated with someone and yet still angry at them. I was not the same poised, good girl back in the States. I was a new, reborn Flora Clover, the hacker and IT engineer of Bianchi’s Tech.
I sighed before I closed the email as I just saved it as a draft. I don’t know why I don’t bother to delete it. Maybe I will in the future but for now, I will be saving it and I will read it whenever I felt furious about a certain someone. And maybe added some other things about him as well.
I went to shut down the computer as I was making my way out of my study room. I wanted to make some light dinner but I think that would be a waste of time. Instead, I made some tea to calm my nerves and maybe helped me sleep better.
I went to the kitchen as I put my electric kettle on. I was pulling some green tea bag from the cabinet when I felt the hairs on my nape was standing up. I can sense that I was not alone and I think I might not be safe in this house anymore. I was about to turn before I felt something cold against my neck.
“Don’t move and don’t scream. If you do, I might have to slit your throat,” the voice said. I could not decipher if it was a man or a woman. I must be hearing things but the harsh breath on my nape was certain that I was not dreaming.
Sweat pooled at my spine as I was rigid as cardboard. I did not dare to rifle with this person as I can get myself in danger.
“You will never go after him. And if you as much looked at him, I will end you,” the person said and I think I know who was the person referring to.
“Celine?” I asked and the knife was deeper into my neck as I can sense that my skin was certain to be bruised by it.
“Aren’t you a clever girl? And you are, you will tell me where he is. I don’t up for games tonight. Tell me where he is and I will leave you alone forever,” she said as she was pressing the knife even more.
“I…I…” I gulped as I was trying to control my fear.
“I don’t know,” I said as I was trying to make sure that I have control over my fear.
“Liar,” she pressed even more. I whimpered.
“I swear! He met me the other day when I was at the beach but never again he showed his face to me. I did not know where he is and I don’t think he was in Albania anymore,” I said as I was thinking any other way out of this mess.
“His parents said that he never made it to the States yet. That means he is here and you will tell me,” she said as she was dragging me toward the study room by my hair. I was screaming in pain as I knew Celine would not care for it. She was too preoccupied with something else other than my safety right now.
“Celine, please,” I begged as she pushed me toward the computer. She held out the gun at me as I turned to look at her. Tears were streaming down my face.
“Now, switch it on,” she said as she was looking at me. I was sobbing but I did what she said. I know why she stopped her Masters before but I never thought that she would play dirty this time.
“Come on, bitch. You’re wasting time,” she barked which made me jumped before I put in my password and username. She was looking at me as I opened up the program that I can track Danial Summer.
Damn him for making me go through this.
“Now, find him,” she instructed as she was putting the gun onto my backbone. I was breathing heavily as my fingers were fast on the keyboard. I was not safe but I have to try to stall her. Maybe I can call for back up before this nightmare was over.
Valentino Bianchi’s POV
I was tossing and turning in my bed as my wife was sleeping beside me. I cannot sleep. I don’t know why but I think I have to get out of here. I need to do some work to get my mind off something.
So, I did. I went out of bed and I went to put on my robe. Danial was sleeping in my guest room as he did the other night. He did not come here 2 nights before he was otherwise ‘engaged’ with something.
I should have known what he was getting himself into.
I was walking to the study room when I saw a bleeping on my computer. I have installed all the safety features in the apartments of my employees that I put in. I never had that thing bleeping before.
I went to take my seat as I went to look at the live feed. It showed every corner of the house. It was good for me to know what they were doing but not in a perverted way. I should have kept their privacy and my trust in check.
“What could have made it bleeped?” I asked as I went to look at the log. It started to bleep when it was 9 PM and now it was 11 PM. I should have to do something better than to pry on other’s business but being trained by my father and my fair share with a certain elusive, deadly organization has undone me. I have to make sure that I know what was going on around me.
Including my employees.
I have them known what they were up to and if any of them were lying or maybe doing something illegal in my turf, I would not hesitate to use it. It was as if they were asking for it when they signed the contract.
They should have read through the agreement if they wanted to work for me.
I went to look at the footage and I was shocked to see the old familiar face. It was like I just looked at her yesterday. Her smirk and her cruel eyes were looking at us as she was going after my friends.
I thought she was dead but she was not.
And she had someone compromised for the mistake that I let myself in before.
I gritted my teeth before I went to stand up and ran toward Danial’s room. I knocked on it, well, maybe banging on it, so that he would get his ass off the bed.
“What the hell are you doing?” He said as his face was distraught. He just got out of bed but I think he might be springing to his feet after he listened to what I have to say.
“Flora’s been threatened,” I said and I can see that his sharp eyes were on me.
“By whom?” He asked as I can sense the panic in his voice.
“Well, it was your fiancée,”
“Bloody hell!” He said before he went inside the room as he was getting ready to get Flora Clover, no I meant Flora Kent, out of her misery.
