The Croesus’ Bride [Completed] - 124 Chapter 20
Flora Kent’s POV
I was not happy right now. Not. At. All.
I was gritting my teeth as I was trying to find one Danial Summer. But all it came up with that there was no such thing in the government database. Well, in Albania anyway.
“You’re not doing it right,” Celine said as she was hovering on the computer as I was being trapped with her gun. She was looking at the name as I was sitting quietly. I don’t dare to risk myself being the target of the gun right now.
“I have done everything that you asked me. I could not find him here. In this bloody country. Maybe he was out of the country after all. Back in the States,” I said as bile was rising onto my throat. I cannot think of anything to ease this.
“You did not search the Europe database?” She asked me as she was trailing her gaze onto me. I shook my head.
“Well, do it now,” she said as she shoved me toward the keyboard. My hands were trembling but I kept on hacking the database of Europe. It was hard to get in but I can make it. I know because I have tried before.
“There’s nothing on their database either,” I said as I was turning to look at Celine. She did not look happy at all. I winced when she was pushing the gun to my head. I was holding my breath as I know how Celine was unstable and I cannot deal with that right now.
She might just pull the trigger and I have one more wish to fulfill.
Someone, please help me, I prayed as I was closing my eyes before someone was knocking down the door and windows of my study. I yelled before I dug under the table, leaving Celine to be exposed to the intruders.
“Celine Lebrun, you’re under arrest for assault and threat,” the voice called after Celine as she was thrashing around as the gun was knocked from her hands.
“You will never contain me. Do you hear me? Never!” She screamed as she was being dragged away from the scene. I have still trembled under the seat as I was afraid to see the condition of my study room. I think I will never be safe here again.
“Ms. Clover?” The familiar voice that spoke Italian to me for the last few days. I looked up to see that Daniel Hekatos was holding out his hand for me. I was exhaling the breath that I was holding. I went to take his hand before he fished me out of the table.
“Oh, Daniel. I thought…I thought I was gonna die,” I said as I was hugging him in the chest. He hushed me in a soothing way that I think it was the best thing ever. I was holding tight to him as I was crying and sobbing in his chest.
“Shh. It’s over now. I got you,” he whispered to me as he was kissing my head. I cried even harder as my heart was beating for Danial Summer right now but all I ever had was Daniel Hekatos. But his stance, his scent, his gesture were all the reminders of Danial when I first looked at the horror movie with him.
“Can we get out of here?” I asked him as I turned to look at his hazel eyes. His jaw clenched before he looked around.
“let’s go,” he said as he was pulling me close under his arm as he put the blanket around me and shouting something or at someone. I cannot focus much because I just wanted to get out of here.
“We can stay at my hotel,” he said as he was opening the door as I was getting inside his car. I just nodded as I was still traumatic with the experience. I hated Danial Summer for dragging his fiancée and forced me to get him out of his hiding spot.
But then, I guessed I would never be afraid of Celine being with Danial forever. But, I cannot be with him since I will be married to this hunk of a man, Daniel Hekatos.
“Do you want to talk about it?” He asked me as he looked at me when I was holding the blanket and he was fastening the seatbelt on me. I shook my head.
“Okay, let’s go home now,” he said as he closed the door before he went to the driver’s side and got in. He started the ignition before he went out of the way of my apartment, into the big city of Tirana and went to the place where he had confessed to me and I was engaged to him.
He parked his car as he got out and switched off the engine before he went to my side and he was opening the door. He unfastened my seatbelt before he went to hold my hand as I got out of the car. The chill breeze was shivering down my spine.
“Here,” he said as he was removing his jacket and he went to put it around my shoulder. I thanked him as I was led by him to get inside the hotel and I was ready to forget about this night.
I did not get a chance to appreciate all the things that he had in this hotel but right now, I can see that the hotel has been a part of his. He turned to look at me before he pulled me toward the sofa and I was seated there.
“Do you want coffee? Tea? Water?”
“Tea would be great, thank you,” I whispered at him as he nodded before he went to the kitchen. I can hear that he was making my tea as my mind was full of questions and actions that I wanted to make but too afraid to do it.
I heard his footsteps before teapot and some cups were in front of us. He poured some of the tea into the cups before handing me one. I thanked him as it was warm to my touch and I hold it in my hand.
“Sugar?” I shook my head.
“Creamer?” I shook again.
“Lemon?” He asked before I went to look at him. He arched his eyebrow at me.
“How do you know I took my tea with lemon?” I asked him before he just shrugged. He put the lemon and I thanked him. I will get to him with that question but there were a few things that I need to tell him.
“Daniel?” I asked him as I turned to look at him. He was staring at me as he was focusing on my face. I blushed at that intense gaze.
“I have something to tell you,” I said as I gripped the cup a little tighter. I don’t think he will be okay with the news that I was about to deliver him.
“Me too but I wanted you to tell me first,” he said as he crossed his hands in between his thighs as he leaned into me. I looked at the cup the whole time as I was playing with the edge of it.
“I was not who you think I am,” I said before I looked at him under my eyelashes. He was silent as he wanted me to continue my honesty.
“My real name was not Flora Clover but it was Kent. Flora Kent. I’m here because I wanted to get away from my ex who I think I need to get some space from him. His name was Danial Summer,” I said as I looked at him before I sipped on my tea and put it on the table.
“I have been dating for 6 years, behind our parents back because we are rivals, in IT companies anyway. Then, I asked him one day to elope but he said no,” I said as I was playing with the engagement ring on my left hand.
“When I came to Albania, my only purpose was to hide from him but he found me, caught me off guard that day. I have been hiding for 5 months from him but he…he appeared just after I left the country. He’s a PI. I know he’s good but never that good,” I said as I was laughing my joke. Daniel did not laugh at all as I know he might be thinking that I was a weird person right now.
“What about now?” Daniel asked me as I sighed.
“Now, I don’t think I can continue our engagement. After his fiancée appeared in my house that you came to save me, I just realized that I have always loved him and I will be, even we’re married. So, I wanted to give you a chance to find your true love,” I said as I pulled the ring out of my hand and I set it up on the table. I cannot bear to look at Daniel’s face when I know there will be betrayal there.
“I understand if you don’t want to see me again. I will take my leave now,” I said before Daniel was in front of me and stopped me from getting up.
“Now that we heard your story,” he said in perfect Italian as I was looking at his hair.
“I wanted you to hear mine,” he whispered in perfect American English that made the sound so familiar. slowly, he raised his head to meet my eyes and when I looked at his eyes, I was shocked.
There was no hazel anymore but merely the blue orbs that I have been waiting for my whole life.
“Danial?” I asked him as he was sighing at me. I have so many questions as I did not know what the hell just happened right now.
“Yes, I am your Danial. Danial Summer. Listen, Flora—”
“You dyed your hair,”
“Yes, I know,”
“It’s brown, like mine,” I said as he was taking my hands before that rush was in my blood again. The rush that only he can give me.
“Listen, I have been assigned by your sister and brother-in-law to look after you. After what I did when you asked me to elope, I felt like a dick. Hence, I tried to stay away from you,” he said.
“But you proposed to me. And you were engaged to Celine,” I said as I was trying to get out of his hold but he held it tighter.
“I know, it was not my plan. It was my parents’, my father if my money was right,” he mumbled before he looked at me with his eyes. His eyes were shining and I can see the emotion that was swirling behind them.
“You asked me to marry you,” I whispered as he was shifting closer and closer to me.
“Yes, I did. And you said yes,” he said as our hot breaths were mingling.
“I don’t think it would be you, I thought it was some sexy stranger that I can use to get over you,” I whispered as his hand was on my nape and the other on my thigh.
“But, could you forget me if you had sex with him?” He asked me as he was massaging my thigh. I shivered.
“No, I think it would make me thinking of you more as you were that stranger after all,” I said as I was looking into his hooded eyes. I know what that means.
“So, do you want him or me?”
“Can’t I have both? Besides, I think that stranger has been rubbing on me for some time,” I said as I was pushing my head forward to meet his lips.
“I think only time will tell how much you love me and I to you,” he said before he claimed my mouth and it was the best kiss that I ever had after I tried to disappear from Danial Summer.
