The Croesus’ Bride [Completed] - 95 Chapter 22
“In here,” Danny said, more like whispering to me as we were walking under the shadows of the building. We were only two people so I don’t know if we might come back alive from here.
“Hey, don’t worry, everything will be alright,” Danny said as he was shooting the hook onto the side of the building before he went climbing it. I did the same thing as I was trying to get hold of it.
This was not a drill or gym class.
Danial looked at me before he smirked. I glared at him before he continued to climb up and cut the glass window so that we can go inside the warehouse. I went to the window as well before I got inside and we were scooting on the floor.
“Okay, here’s the room. so, I say that you will save her while I went to the server room and maybe cut out the power so that they will not suspect that we have infiltrated their building,” he whispered to me as I was nodding at him. He folded the map before he told me the direction. Danial holds me for a while before hugging me.
“Be careful,” he said as he went to the server room. I went to the room that was holding Fauna captive. I have to save her before the wedding date.
“Okay, right then left,” I said as I was walking through the hallway and weirdly, there were no guards or paroles in this area. Now that was suspicious.
“Aren’t evil lair has to have them?” I mumbled before I shook my head as I was thankful for not have to kill anybody.
“Hey, you there!” There was a voice that was coming from behind.
Talking about luck.
I was ready to face them when I drew my throwing daggers and I shoot at them. They yelped before they were sliding down to the ground and I was hoping that they need not tell anyone yet about the intruders.
“I have to make sure that I can blend in the dark so that I will not get captured easily,” I mumbled before I saw someone was coming. I went to hide around the corner as I looked at their retreating figures. They went to the bodies that just laid on the floor before I crept behind them and killed them instantly.
“Well, that was not so bad,” I said before I saw the ventilation vent. I was contemplating to get inside them and maybe, just maybe, find my Fauna and be done with this.
“Hey, Florenz, are you there?” Someone spoke to me as I just remembered that I was wearing intercom.
“Loud and clear, Summer,” I said as I was moving toward the left turn of my adventure. I was looking at the only door that was situated there.
“Am I in the right direction?” I asked Danny as I was sure that he already know where I was.
“Yeah, you’re hot on the track. Get inside before someone’s coming,” Danial said as I was gripping the handle.
“It’s locked,”
“Well, unlock it,” he urged me before I sighed.
“Easy for you to say,” I mumbled before I kicked the door open. well, now I was sure the sound vibrated throughout the whole warehouse.
“You shouldn’t do that,”
“Well, you asked to unlock it so I unlocked it and don’t you dare tell me—”
“It was unorthodox method,” I said simultaneously with Danial. I sighed as I was pinching my nose.
“One of these days I will have to tell your girlfriend do not marry you,” I said as I went inside the room. Danny chuckled.
“Well, if you even know she’s existed,” he chided before I turned on the light. There was no one.
“There’s no one here,” I said as I was talking to Danny.
“What?”
“Nada, zilch, zero. Nothing’s here. We have been played,” I said as I was looking at the fresh marks that just strapped to the floor and the ropes that were hanging loose. They were here but then they moved out of here as if they were expecting us.
“Well, I need to find elsewhere. Daniel?” I asked him as I was listening to the com.
“On it,” he said as he was typing away before he instructed me to get to the east wing of the warehouse.
Seriously, how big was it?
I was running down the hallway back to the starting point before I went to the second hallway that was intercepted with a ballroom. I did not even know they have that before I went to the right corner and there were two guards in front of the door.
“Shit,” I cursed before I took out two tranquilizers.
“Why are you cursing?”
“There’s an obstacle. Nothing I can’t handle,” I said as I was positioning the syringe and shot them. They hit their neck before the guards fall asleep.
“Bingo,” I said as I went to the door and gripped the handle. It was locked, again.
“Damn it,”
“Language!”
I smirked as I can see Danial was pissing off. I knocked down the door again with my strength before I was looking at the weirdest shit of my life.
“Danial?”
“Yeah?”
“I think I found the nest,” I said as I was looking as wide as the ocean, the floor in front of me.
There were carcasses of animals, maybe it was a cow or an ox, but I don’t want to know what was happening to them. It smelled stink and pungent that I might vomit if I don’t control myself. I was looking at the gooey stuff that was moving around in the cylindrical container like it was a lava lamp. Then it has more of the stuff that I saw victims of Lucia’s has turned into.
Did she took them all and reused them?
That thought alone scared the shit out of me and when I saw there were shadows over my behind, I turned and I think my heart dropped to the ground.
Fauna was hanging upside down and Lucia was standing beside her above me. They were at the crossover as Lucia was leaning against the railing.
“Mr. Florenz, we meet again,” she said as she was looking at me, smirking wickedly.
“I can’t say I have the pleasure to see you,” I said bitterly as I looked at Fauna.
“Oh, don’t be so dramatic, Inspector. After all, you were looking for me, yes? And to think that a man such as yourself has found a bride, I must say I was jealous,” she said as she was caressing Fauna’s cheek. She flinched and I just saw that her eyes were wide open and she was in fear.
“Ah, how romantic, the man save the damsel in distress and they live happily ever after,” Lucia said as she was clapping her hands together.
“But this ain’t a fairy tale and I have the ultimate say of how this ends,” she said before she swings Fauna and she was screaming at the top of the lung.
“No!” I said as I was ready to save her before the monsters like Dean was coming at me. I have to fight them off but I cannot risk Fauna to drop to her death.
“Tick tock, tick tock, inspector and you can only save one. Yourself or her,” she said before she laughed like a maniac. I gritted my teeth. I was hoping that Daniel will come but I supposed it was too hopeful, I have to save her myself even it was the last thing that I will do.
Suddenly, the vents were full of blue gas as I was looking around us. Lucia was confused before the monsters turned to humans again and they were naked. At least they were not a gooey thing.
“No, no no! How can it be possible?!” She screamed as she was looking at her minions. Then, I heard a chuckle from the side door and Danial was leaning against it.
“Well, you can just have one genius in you, can you Lucia?” Danny said as he was looking at her. He was crossing his arms before Lucia hissed at him.
“You son of a bitch! I will get you but first,” Lucia said before she cut the ropes that were holding Fauna. My eyes widened because of it before I went to save her.
“Fauna!”
“Adam!” She screamed as I went to save her. I jumped and I held her tight against my body as I was leaping through the gap of the crossover.
“It’s okay, it’s okay. I got you,” I said as I was looking at her. She was looking at me before I released her from the rope.
“Lucia?”
“Shh, don’t worry about that. Danial got it covered, hopefully,” I said as I was nuzzling her neck before I heard a commotion on the other side. It was as if the entire Interpol and police force were here. And when I looked, I saw my old captain, from Spain and Portugal and my captain at the station. He was talking animatedly before someone was coming to get us to the other side.
