Adam Florenz’s POV

“Nice work, son,” my Captain said before I went to put Fauna on the ambulance. We were out of the warehouse as red and blue lights were streaming all over the place. The men that were turning from monsters to humans were being interrogated and they were being injected with some shit that I don’t want to know.

“seriously, Adam, I can walk by myself,” Fauna said as she was hanging to my neck with her delicate fingers. I don’t want to risk it as I know how fragile she can be.

“Just stay still,”

“but I can walk,”

“Fauna,” my tone was pleading and I think she stopped arguing after that. I walked her to the ambulance as I wanted the medics to take care of her.

“Seriously, I was not badly injured,” she chided when one of the medics opened the hoodie and saw that she has been badly bruised. Blood boiled in my veins as I was gripping my hands into fists.

“Adam, please, it’s nothing,”

“nothing? Nothing?! no, Fauna, these,” I said as I was pointing at the bruises that she had on her stomach, “are nothing to me. I should have killed that bitch,” I said as I was running my fingers through my hair.

“Adam,” Fauna said as she was putting her hands on my arms. I calmed for a bit. Keynote: a bit. I still want to kill that motherfucker of a mentally retarded bitch.

“I know, I know. I’m sorry. I cannot protect you, Fauna and the way I treated you after—” I stopped after she glared at me. I just remembered that there was an unwanted company with us.

“We talk about that later, after your examination,” I said as I went to kiss her forehead and I let the medics deal with her. I went to captain and Danial as they were talking animatedly right now.

I wonder what they talked about.

Danial was the first to recognize that I was coming their way. He turned toward me with that stupid smirk on his face. I wanted to punch him right now because my Fauna was hurting.

well, it was not exactly his fault.

“Well, look who’s here. The man of the hour,” he said as he patted my shoulder. I glared at him before I nodded at the captain.

“Captain,” I said curtly.

“Well, Florenz, I must say, you have uncovered the most ridicule and complicated crime we ever encounter and with that, you can go back to Portugal if you wanted,” he said as he was looking at the ambulance. My heart skipped a beat as I looked at Fauna who was wincing as the medics were applying medicine to her wound.

“Well, about that,” I said as I was looking at him expectedly.

Fauna Kent’s POV

It has been days since I got out of that warehouse and I was recovering in my parents’ house. They were very strict that I will not work and also did not work from my bed. I needed to rest as they were afraid my bruises will get worse.

I got pampered and I was being watched over like a hawk. They will not let me out of their sight and the servants were always in and out of my room. Adam would occasionally come to visit and we talked.

well, nothing in-depth such as how he would have to explain himself after leaving me when we made love. That part was still not covered.

“How are you feeling?” He asked as he put some fresh flowers beside the bed. He had bought me tulips and orchids as they were my favorite flowers. I always lighted up when I saw he was holding them. today, he bought me tulips of various colors.

“Well, I have been better,” I said as I put the book down. As well as I cannot work, I might as well indulge in the books that I have long bought but never opened it. I think this accident might have its perks.

“Well, if you are better now, I hope that you can go out on a walk with me?” He asked me as he was looking at me. He never touched me anymore after that accident. I think he was afraid that I might break and maybe hurt by his touches.

I missed his touch.

“Where are we going?” I asked him as he helped me to get out of the bed. I was still hurting a little bit as I moved around. My stomach was healing perfectly as I had bandages all over it.

“well, I just wanted to talk to you outside the room. I’m sure you were stuffed inside here,” he said as he looked at me while smiling.

I melted from his smile alone.

“Well, you know I am. and I have been dreadful for the days that I will finally get out of the bed and work again,” I said as we were walking down the stairs, one step at a time. Adam has supported me as he put his hand on my lower back. I warmed at his touch and I cannot help but blush.

“So, I was wondering how do you feel about the wedding that will take place in 2 days?” Adam asked as we were walking hand-in-hand around the garden. We walked past the fountain that I have the nerve to kiss him first. I blushed at that thought alone.

“Why are you blushing?” He asked as he looked at me before he looked at the fountain. I swear I saw some blood on his cheeks before he cleared his throat.

“Fauna, I—” he said before he took a long breath. He turned to look at me as he stopped me from walking any further. His hands were on my shoulder. Warmth spread across my body like wildfire.

“Fauna, I know what I did that night was—unforgivable. I should have not let you alone and went after that man. I should have not let you leave by bus. If I know any better, I—” he said as he was closing his eyes. It was too painful for him even to say it. He sighed before he looked at me.

“I understand if you don’t want to marry me anymore. I have failed to protect you and if you wanted to break the engagement—” was all that left his mouth before I kissed him, hard. He was being unreasonable.

Adam was surprised for a while before he snaked his hand around my waist and pulled me closer to him. He angled my head so that my mouth will give more access to him. He licked my bottom lips before I gasped. He took that opportunity to slip his tongue inside my mouth.

“Hmm,” I groaned as I snaked my arms around his neck, playing with his hair on his nape. As I was tiptoeing to get more contact with his body, a sharp pain erupted around my midriff.

“Ow,” I said as I was breaking the kiss before Adam stepped back.

“Shoot, sorry, my love,” he said as he was looking at my bandages, for blood to come out or something. I giggled at his declaration. He turned to look at me, confused.

“I know and it was very stupid of me. Allow me to redeem that,” he said as he was walking toward my parents’ house.

“This is my parents’. We can’t do that here,” I hissed at him. He smirked as he went to walk upstairs to my room. Once inside, he kicked the door and locked it as he put me to stand.

“well, they were out, aren’t they?” He asked as he arched his eyebrow at me.

“But, there are servants and they will tell about it to them,” I hissed at him, not wanting to cause havoc in this house.

“well, I might not make love to you, love, but I will sate you,” he said as he was walking toward me. I stepped back before my legs hit the bed and my back was on the bed.

“Beautiful,” Adam said as he went to kneel in front of my knees. He spread my knees wide apart as my eyes were wide as a saucer.

He smirked at me before he went to push my skirt up and my thighs were being caressed by the cold wind. I did not know that I would feel like that.
