The Cursed King - Chapter 296
Elsewhere back on earth, Loriel and Dante were facing off against each other ruthlessly and without any bars held back. Now that Elise had gone off with that young god, Loriel’s concern was paying back all those centuries that Dante made him spend alone.
New York City shook and trembled at the brunt of attacks of Loriel whereas Dante dodged them skillfully and only sent back the blows. Amidst the fighting, Baron and Hilde who were still in their respective apartments started to make their move out.
Baron and Hilde were both minor gods, respectively being that of Beauty and Fame, however, they were the type of gods who were concerned about humanity’s survival as a whole and both made a move out to see the fighting.
“Hey!” Hilde called out and shouted loudly as she tried to get in between the two gods fighting. Loriel scowled and tried to time his attack against hitting the goddess as Dante also held himself back and glared at the goddess interrupting.
Baron sighed and waved his hand. “If the two of you are going to keep fighting like this, can you guys do this somewhere else? New York isn’t going to bear the attacks of your fighting.”
Dante and Loriel both shared looks with each other, silently gauging with one another, and then eventually agreed wordlessly. Baron and Hilde sighed in relief, but before the two minor gods could say anything else, Dante opened a portal in front of him and motioned to Loriel.
“Let us take it in a place far away from humanity, shall we, Loriel Ashborn?”
“It’s surprising that you actually care about this place.” Loriel looked at the portal and wondered if it was a trap. However, it was true that the destruction that they caused the entire city of New York was too much.
“The gods of Cretea must protect humanity in their own way, it is after all one of our realms,” Baron spoke up.
“Some of us are immersed in the world of men or used to be a part of it after all.” Hilde pointed out and stared at them with pursed lips.
Loriel would eventually hold a hand up and sigh. In part, the destruction of this part of New York was his fault so he took out his phone and then contacted his nephew. “Marc, I want you to allot some funds into the repair of the city. I will be gone for a few days, so I expect everything to be in order when I return.”
Without another word, before his nephew could even question why there was a sudden outbreak of the city-level disaster, Loriel ended the phone call and then started to walk towards the portal that Dante provided them.
He threw one last look at Baron and Hilde to say one thing. “Please go look for my wife. She was taken by one of the younger gods. His name is Alexei, I think?”
Loriel stepped into the portal after that and disappeared right after Dante entered as well.
Baron was still dumbfounded when Hilde nudged him and asked, “What happen to you?”
Baron turned to her and furrowed his brows. “I don’t understand. That’s Dimitri, right? Did you see him fighting just now?”
Hilde nodded. “Yeah.”
“But Dimitri cannot fight,” Baron exclaimed. “I never saw him unleash that much power before. It’s very confusing.”
“Wait…” Hilde suddenly understood what Baron said. It’s true. She saw Dante, Dimitri’s twin killed after the tournament by Loriel and when she met Dimitri for the first time, she freaked out by the similarities, thinking Dante had come back to life.
Only later did she realize Dante had a twin brother whose name was Dimitri and Dimitri couldn’t fight. So, Baron was right.
Now, Hilde furrowed her brows too. “Yeah… Now that you mentioned it… It’s actually weird to see Dimitri fight Loriel. I understand he might want to avenge his brother, but what does it have to do with Elise? Loriel’s wife, right? That’s what he said before he left? Alexei took his wife?”
Baron looked at Hilde with raised eyebrows. “You know Loriel Ashborn? That’s HIM?”
“Yes.”
“That’s the man who killed Alexei’s parents!” Baron exclaimed.
“Huh? How many gods did Loriel kill? Not only did he kill Dimitri’s brother, but he also killed Alexei’s parents?” Hilde pressed her mouth in shock. “I admit he had a fiery temper. No wonder he made so many enemies back in Cretea.”
“Let’s go and find Alexei. We need to know what the fuck is going on,” said Baron.
“Do you want to go to Cretea?” Hilde asked the handsome man.
“I think we should,” Baron replied flatly.

When Loriel entered the new domain, he would look and find himself surrounded by pure ice and a freezing temperature. There was glacial ice all around him and Loriel pursed his lips and glanced behind him to see Dante enter right after the portal.
“Antarctica.” the Time Master spoke. “I believe that is as far away as we can go from humanity. Unless you would like to fight in space? I doubt your ability to actually survive there.”
“This is enough,” Loriel spoke coldly and eyed the Time Master. Without another second, the god summoned another lightning bolt and the white filament streaked through the sky and pierced the Time Master.
Dante would come out of the smoke and rush towards Loriel and return the attack. The two gods would come back and forth with one another.
However, contrary to the expectation of Baron and Hilde, even going to Antarctica was not enough to stop the effect of the attacks of the two strong gods both fighting to their limits. Despite their decision to change locations, the ferocity of their attacks was unlike any other.
The fifteen centuries of pain that both men experienced were unleashed at this very moment and they would fight nonstop against each other. Before they even knew it, the fight would take so long and started to affect the ice caps.
Hilde and Baron urging them to take the fight elsewhere now started to have earth catastrophic effects. The frozen ice started to shift and move, melting and the water started to rise above normal sea levels.
Other gods who had been minding their own business started to notice the destruction and the natural disasters that exacerbated global warming and created a torrent of tsunamis, earthquakes, and other disasters across the continents.
Everywhere, the news channels started reporting the severe effects of escalated global warming. Humans were distraught by the sudden development and panic ensued when one by one, small islands were submerged by the rising sea level.
“What’s going on????”
“Is the world coming to an end?”
“We need to investigate this abnormal climate change occurrence.”
Many gods came out of their comfortable lives because of the news and started to investigate the issue. When they found out it was caused by two stubborn immortals who were fighting to the death, some of them tried to slow down the effects.
Many were trying their best to mitigate the damage being caused by Loriel and Dante while also complaining about someone in Cretea to put the disasters and fighting to an end.
It was at that point that Baron and Hilde started to move and make their way to find Elise and Alexei.. It took some time for both Baron and Hilde to reach Cretea and when they came there, it was because it was necessary for one person to intervene.
