The Cursed Prince - Chapter 980: Breaking Her Spirit
Chapter 980: Breaking Her Spirit
“Think about your actions and reflect on them!” King Draco scoffed before he turned around and closed the door behind him.
“Father, no! Let me out of here…!” Rowena pounded on the door and shouted at her father, asking to be released, to no avail. “Father, don’t do this!”
“I will send healers soon to fix you.”
Rowena could hear her father’s response.
“No! I don’t need fixing! I am not broken!” Rowena shouted. She gritted her teeth and decided to force her father to free her by using Raphael’s name since King Draco seemed to badly want to be in Raphael’s good books. “If you don’t let me out, I will tell Raphael what you did to me! I will tell him that you are after something in Cretea….”
There was silence.
Rowena stepped back. Her breath panted and she looked at the door nervously. She thought she could hear faint footsteps approaching.
And then the door was opened, showing her father’s burly body and his face filled with fury.
“What did you say just now?” His voice was as cold as ice. “Are you threatening me, child?”
Rowena was always scared of her father, but today her fear was especially intense. His icy words sent chills down her spine. However, she still clenched her jaws, trying to look tough, and stared at her father bravely.
“I know you are after a man from Cretea to become my husband…” Her voice croaked. “You always have. I don’t know what you want… but I assume it must be something you can only get in Cretea…”
Rowena had asked Raphael so many questions about his realm. She badly wanted to know what was so interesting about the place. Was it the magic? The immortality potion? What was it that her father was after?
She had found out that King Draco went to Cretea once many years ago because he was chosen to join the Tournament To Godhood. Perhaps… he found something he liked there that he couldn’t get in the human realm?
“How dare you threaten me, you insolent little brat!” King Draco narrowed his eyes at Rowena. “Do you think he will believe a crazy girl like you over me? And IF you would be so brazen to talk shit about me to him, I will tell him that you don’t love him.”
He added, “I’ll tell Raphael that you intentionally seduced him, to steal the immortality potion for Julian and revive him… because you love that filthy thief!”
He stepped closer toward Rowena and grabbed her left arm roughly. His breath was hot as he titled his face close to hi
s daughter’s pale face.
“If you dare betray me, Rowena… I will make sure you’re going down with me,” he whispered heartlessly. The man added his last sentence in a chilling tone, “And I will feed Julian’s body to the pigs, right where he belongs.”
Rowena’s tears streamed down hard and her fists clenched to the sides. The scene was too horrifying to imagine. She hated her father to the core and wished she could just punch him right there and then.
She would just kill herself if King Draco told Raphael that she was a temptress and intentionally seduced him to get the immortality potion. Problem solved.
However, the idea that King Draco would feed Julian’s body to the pigs after she died truly broke her heart. Julian was the only person who was good to her and loved her unconditionally. She must not let his body be vilified by her father just to punish her.
She cried despondently. Why did she have such cursed life? She was always alone and lonely. Even when Raphael was around, she didn’t dare open up to him because she was worried her true self disgusted him.
She should have asked him to take her away from here at the first opportunity. She should have just stayed in the valley for the rest of her life, not here in this wretched place.
And now, it was too late.
King Draco saw the expression of defeat in his daughter’s eyes and he knew she had lost all her will to fight back. Gosh. He was worried for a second there that Rowena had dared to talk back and even threatened him.
Fortunately, he had Julian as collateral that he could use to control Rowena. He knew it was the right decision to bring that thief’s body to Ashland. As long as he had Julian, he could make Rowena do whatever he wanted.
“Use your brain, child. I know you have one.” He pointed his index finger at her forehead with a mocking tone. “You already know that I want something from Cretea, so it is in your best interest to help me get it. Once I get what I want, I will let you be happy with a handsome and powerful god as your husband and I will not lay a finger on Julian.”
He narrowed his eyes dangerously. “However, if you want to create problems, I will bring you down with me and you will lose everything you hold dearly.”
Rowena looked away. She didn’t want to look at her evil father. She didn’t want him to see her tears streaming down profusely.
King Draco left the room in the tower again after he warned her sternly. “Make sure you take all the medicine given to you by th
e healers so you will stop seeing things! No man in their right mind would marry a lunatic!”
SLAM.
After the door was locked from outside, Rowena’s body dropped to the floor. She buried her face in her hands and cried without a sound.
It didn’t take too long for the healers to come around and Rowena protested about receiving treatment from them.
However, they still had their way around her. She tried to bite down the fingers of those who attempted to feed her the medications, but they force fed it to her anyway.
After what seemed to be a couple of days, King Draco came and visited his daughter.
