The Daily Life Of The Scum - Chapter 63 Day 62
“Right.” Fei Huang said, suddenly remembered something. He turned to Fei Lin and Xi Ling. “Earlier, you said you have friends in the Demonic Sect.” he said. “If they’re on your side, then ” he said, his face serious. ” if Li Shan knew about them, he’ll…” he said, didn’t continue.
Their face went serious.
“Hm?” Chen Sheng suddenly said, surprised.
They all turned to him. Chen Sheng’s forehead knotted, looking outside.
“What is it, Brother Chen?” Li Tian asked.
“… somebody arrived.” Chen Sheng answered.
Their eyes went wide.
“But ” he said. ” Xia Di said they’re friendlies.” He said, referring to his contracted beast.
He respectfully bowed to the elders, then immediately ran outside, escaping Fei Huang’s scrutinizing gaze.
“Could it be…?” Fei Lin said and looked at Xi Ling, then Fei Yin and the others.
Chen Sheng stopped running and slowly walked outside.
“Master.” Xia Di called and respectfully bowed to Chen Sheng.
Chen Shen and Wen Yan hopped down Xia Di, together with another man Chen Sheng guessed the young master of the demonic sect, the one who made Chen Shen’s modified body the sect leader of the Demonic Sect, Mu Xin.
Mu Xin saw Chen Sheng, then slightly frowned. “Guess you’ve repaid your debt.” He said, referring to Chen Sheng saving them in exchange for Chen Sheng taking the modified body.
Chen Sheng didn’t answer, his face blank. He then bowed. “You must be Sect Leader Mu.” He said as they heard running footsteps.
Sure enough, it was the elders and his friends.
Mu Xin’s brows raised for Chen Sheng’s farce. Chen Shen grimaced, forgot to tell Chen Sheng’s current situation to Mu Xin. Wen Yan’s face is just blank as his eyes searched for Lei Ling.
“Sect Leader Mu!” Fei Lin called, surprised.
They thought it’s only Chen Shen and Wen Yan that’d be arriving, but Mu Xin actually tagged along with them.
He, together with Xi Ling and the others, immediately walked towards them.
“The Thousand Six Winged Eagle.” Fei Huang said as he looked at Xia Di.
Xia Di nodded to Fei Huang, then silently walked towards his master, Chen Sheng. Fei Huang looked at Chen Sheng again, his gaze scrutinizing.
The silent man beside Fei Huang silently looking at Chen Sheng and Xia Di, his face unreadable.
“Ah Shen!” Chen Han called and ran towards his little brother, his face bright.
But Chen Shen grimaced and forced a smile. “Brother.” He said and bowed.
“Ah Shen – !” Chen Han called and was about to throw himself to Chen Shen when Mu Xin, to everyone’s surprise, pulled Chen Shen away and hugged him. “Ah!” he exclaimed, almost dived to the ground when he missed his target.
His eyes narrowed as he looked at Mu Xin, his face dark.
Ah. Everyone thought when a sudden realization hit them. They looked at Mu Xin who’s intimately hugging the blushing Chen Shen while the raging Chen Han glares at Mu Xin.
Wen Yan silently left, avoiding the drama, since he’s going to find Lei Ling now that he’s in Lei Ling’s sect, the Newfound Sect.
“Sect Leader Mu.” Fang Wen called, breaking the rising tension between Chan Han and Mu Xin. “We are glad to see you safe.” He said and bowed. “We thank you for helping our sect back when we’re attacked.” He told him, referring to when the Newfound Land and Newfound Sect were attacked.
Mu Xin looked at him, then glanced at Chen Sheng who’s patting Xia Di’s head.
He turned to Fang Wen and the others. “Yes.” He just said. “Anyway. My father is taking the Demonic Sect back in his arms.” he started. “Since his subordinates are all attached to him, of course they’d be in my father’s side since they never liked me even once.” He said and shrugged like it doesn’t matter to him.
The elders looked at each other, dark lines covering their face. Youths of today are really scary. They thought, referring to the youths not caring about important matters.
“Alright. Where do we stay?” Mu Xin asked and looked around.
Xie Lan’s lips thinned, but he already expected this to happen and so he calmly answered. “There’re two rooms left at the west wing ” he said.
Mu Xin cut him off. “I only need one.” He said and pulled Chen Shen with him. “I’ll leave these matters to you!” he said and waved. “You know well I’m not a good fighter and just a simple, peace lover – !” he said and walked away together with Chen Shen.
Chen Han gritted his teeth as he glared at Mu Xin, showing his extreme animosity. Another little brother of his has been taken away.
Aside from Chen Han who’s drinking vinegar, everyone is serious. Of course they know what kind of person Mu Xin was, since he openly showed it 8 years ago. That time when his father, Mu Jie, lost control of his power making all the malevolent energy scatter and the people suffered for months due to the malevolent energy running rampant…
And of course, how could they forget the time their heart almost stopped when Chen Sheng almost died? Chen Sheng would’ve died if it’s not for Xia Di, who at that time mysteriously appeared. Since he saved Chen Sheng’s life, he asked if he could make a contract with Chen Sheng, shocking everyone present since there’re many far stronger than Chen Sheng around, yet the legendary mighty beast chose a low level scum cultivator Chen Sheng. Xia Di told them off he took a liking to Chen Sheng and then proceeded to make a contract with Chen Sheng.
Yes. All these, 8 years ago, were a farce of the one who brought the three new visitors the beast, Xia Di!
“You’re lazing off again.” a man’s voice said when he saw the beast sleeping.
The beast didn’t answer and just adjusted his head.
“You don’t care if you’re made fun of your kin again?” the man asked.
The beast’s eyes opened and looked at the man, the pupils of the beast’s eyes contracted.
The man smiled. “Then, how about I give you an easy, but proud task so that your kin will never make fun of you?” he asked.
“What is it?” the lazy beast asked, now interested.
The man’s smile went wider. “Look after my precious grandson.” He answered.
The beast opened his eyes as he looks at the young man walking, looking around as he and his friends walks towards east where their sect is located.
“Hm?” the young man said as they stopped.
“What is it, Brother Chen?” his friend asked.
“A demonic beast?” one of them asked, his eyes vigilant.
“No. A human.” Another answered as he went to a tree were a drunkard is sleeping.
The beast closed his eyes as he took a sleep again. He can’t count how many peaceful days has it been since he started watching over the man’s grandson.
From the time he took a very long sleep and woke up when the man took him out of his dimensional pocket and told him to look for his grandson and watch him. From when the man’s grandson’s soul was attached to another’s soul to make him leave; when the man’s grandson’s soul got detached from another soul and flew away, up to when the man’s grandson’s soul came back to this world and went inside an empty body.
And the man’s grandson now is the young man the beast is watching over.
The beast yawned and looked at the young man and his friends again. They’re flying now towards their sect. The beast knew that the young man can’t cultivate, much less mount on his sword and make it fly.
It’s because his awareness of his soul’s power hasn’t awakened yet.
The beast, although aware of the young man’s situation, didn’t come out to help the young man since he knew this isn’t the time yet. (nope. He’s just lazy)
But, he never knew that time will come 7 years later, and the man’s grandson will be on the verge of danger.
Grand Conference of the Righteous Sects’ Sect Leaders.
“So that old man is finally going to suffer Qi Deviation? About time, I say!” one of the sect leaders of a Righteous Sect said.
“Idiot!” one yelled. “He’s about to lose his control of malevolent energy! Just think of the people who’ll be suffering once the malevolent energy spreads!” he snapped.
Murmurs can be heard on the Upright Sect’s library where the conference is held.
Xie Lan, tired of this bullshit, stood up. The sound of his chair pushed echoed on the library. They all turned to him.
“Since my sect is the nearest and will be the first one to be affected, then I’ll be the vanguard.” He told them. “That’s it. I’ll be taking my leave ” he said and was about to leave when Ming Ye and Luo Shi stopped him.
“Junior Brother Xie!” Ming Ye called. “Of course our sect, and us, will be accompanying you ” he told him.
Xie Lan cut him off. “Thanks.” He told them, his voice soft. He then left, leaving the other sect leaders to grit their teeth because of the upstart sect leader.
Ming Ye, representing their sect since their sect leader is still in a closed door cultivation, sighed as he sat back.
“The Upright Sect will be lending a hand to its alumni.” Fei Huang said.
Ming Ye nodded at him. “Thanks.” He told him.
Fei Huang nodded, making the other sect leaders grit their teeth again, their face looked like they drank 4 jars of vinegar.
Newfound Sect.
Fang Wen’s face was covered in worry and he wiped the sweat off Xie Lan’s head. The four senior disciples Chen Sheng, Fei Yin, Li Tian and Feng Mo, are just looking at their ‘parents’ display of love.
“Everything will be fine, Wen.” Xie Lan assured Fang Wen, slipping his hands inside Fang Wen’s sleeves and rubbed them on Fang Wen’s shoulders. “Senior Brother Ming and his sect will be helping us.” he told him, his hands rubbing Fang Wen’s arms.
“Really?” the innocent Fang Wen said, his face lit up. He’s still unaware that Xie Lan is groping him. He turned to their ‘kids’. “Tell your fellow brothers to go back to their houses to protect their family.” He told him, Xie Lan’s hands are still inside his sleeves.
Chen Sheng and Fei Yin’s face is blank, bloody aware of Xie Lan groping Fang Wen. Li Tian and Feng Mo are innocent and nave, and so they answered Fang Wen’s orders.
“Yes, shifu!” they said and bowed.
Fang Wen nodded, then looked at the three young masters. “How about you? If you want to go back to your family ” he told the three.
Li Tian is already a given that he’ll be staying in the Newfound Sect.
“No.” the three immediately answered.
Fang Wen grimaced. “Right.” He said. I thought so. He thought, then turned to Xie Lan. His forehead knotted when he felt something is tickling his sides. “Lan?” he called as he caught Xie Lan’s hands.
Xie Lan just smiled, not ashamed he got caught. He turned to the four. “I won’t be expecting you all to stay and just hide in the end.” He told them and chuckled.
The four frowned, yet they knew Xie Lan is just joking and he’s teasing them. Xie Lan then pulled Fang Wen, obviously gonna grope the oblivious Fang Wen again.
The four could only pity their oblivious ‘mother’, who isn’t even aware that he’s (Fang Wen) their ‘mother’.
Demonic Sect.
“Ah Jie…” Li Shan called as he cried while he watches Mu Jie scream. “Ah Jie!” he called and tried to reach Mu Jie but the malevolent energy surrounding Mu Jie repelled him.
He flew away and his back hit the wall. He coughed blood, but he didn’t care. Mu Jie is suffering more than him.
“Ah Jie…” he called as he reaches out his hand.
Mu Jie’s eyes went wide and he turned to Li Shan’s voice. His mouth fell open when he saw Li Shan is lying on the ground, coughing blood. “Ah Shan!” he called and was about to crawl towards Li Shan when the malevolent energy clung to him, preventing him from moving. “Ah Shan!” he called.
Li Shan, dizzy, raised his head. His eyes blurred from his tears and his ears are ringing. He could see Mu Jie’s lips are moving, telling him something, but he can’t hear it. “Ah… Jie…” he called as he lost consciousness.
If he knew this’d happen, he never had confessed to Mu Jie.
The Li family is a clan of demonic cultivators. If the Righteous Sects has families of powerhouses, the demonic cultivators have, too. The Mu and Li family are two of the powerhouses of the demonic cultivators. Since there’re only two powerhouses, of course envy is inevitable.
The Li family is always second since the Mu family are stronger than them, the reason why the Mu family is always the sect leader of the demonic sect. Now, it’s the next generation’s turn to vie for the position of sect leader.
Unexpectedly, the Mu family’s young master is weak hearted, and so the Li family one upped them.
“Seems like it’s the Li family will be the next sect leader. Their time to lead has come.” One said.
“Yes. A pity for the Mu family’s young master to be…” Another one said, sighing.
“Don’t listen to them.” Li Shan, first young master of the Li family, told Mu Jie, the young master of the Mu family. “What’s more important isn’t the power to rule many, but the power to rule yourself!” he told the crying Mu Jie.
A trick of fate, the two who are destined to vie for the position are close friends and sworn brothers. They’re already 18 years old, yet Mu Jie the weak hearted still cries.
He’s that pure for this world. Li Shan thought as he hugged Mu Jie tight and buried Mu Jie’s face on his chest. “Ah Jie…” he called as he patted Mu Jie’s back. He closed his eyes tight as he felt Mu Jie’s warmth.
Yes. He’s in love with this kind hearted guy.
“Ah Jie. Are you fine now?” he asked and looked at Mu Jie. He drew a sharp breath when he saw Mu Jie has fallen asleep on his shoulder.
Li Shan smiled. What a weird guy, having a talent to fall asleep on my shoulder. He thought as he made his sword fly. He mounted on his sword and carried Mu Jie as they flew away. I wish we could stay like this forever. He thought as he planted a soft kiss on Mu Jie’s cheek.
But forever doesn’t exist. After leaving Mu Jie to the Wen family, the one who’s looking after Mu Jie since Mu Jie was still young, Li Shan went home. He got scolded. His younger brother, Li Fan, is lazy and so the Li family’s ambition to be the next sect leader fell on Li Shan’s shoulders.
If only Li Fan is ambitious, then he could leave the responsibility to Li Fan and take Mu Jie away and we’ll escape from all the demonic cultivators’ bullshit. He thought, gritting his teeth as his father continued to scold him.
Li Shan got grounded, much to his chagrin since he can’t see Mu Jie. And this day Li Shan regretted he never escaped since the next time he’d see Mu Jie, Mu Jie will change.
“Ah Jie!” Li Shan called, his face lit up, when he saw Mu Jie.
The demonic cultivators looked at them, but Li Shan doesn’t care. He ran towards Mu Jie, his face bright and smiling widely.
“Ah Jie, last time ”
He cut him off, much to Li Shan’s surprise. “Don’t talk to me.” Mu Jie said, his face and voice cold. “We’re rivals. Or are you devising plans to trick me and made me relinquish the sect leader position to your family?” he asked, staring at the shocked Li Shan blankly. “Indeed. A demonic cultivator, indeed.” he said and smiled at him coldly. He walked away, leaving Li Shan dumbfounded.
Li Shan doesn’t know how long has he been standing there until he felt something wet fell on his head. It was rain. But, something also wet fell on his cheek.
It was his tears.
Li Shan secretly left and went to the Wen family, asking what happened to Mu Jie. There, they said Mu Jie’s father poisoned Mu Jie’ head and heart, that’s why Mu Jie greatly changed.
The next day, Li Shan announced he doesn’t want to be the sect leader and left the sect leader position to Mu Jie, much to the Mu family’s delight and Li family’s chagrin. That day, then, the Li family kicked Li Shan out. Having nowhere to go, he knelt in front of Mu Jie.
It was Mu Jie’s father who saw him and since he’s evil, he let Li Shan in and made him vow to devotedly serve Mu Jie. Li Shan isn’t sure if Mu Jie’s father knew what he felt towards his son, but he guessed Mu Jie’s father has an idea. That’s why he let Li Shan in since he knew this’ll happen Li Shan begging Mu Jie after he was kicked out by the Li family out of their shame.
A year after and Mu Jie’s father died. There was a rumor it was the Li family, and so Mu Jie ordered Li Shan to kill his family as a proof of his loyalty to him. Li Shan obediently followed, not breathing a word and killed his family.
He turned when he heard a cry. It was a child.
Li Shan’s cold heart was moved and his cries resonated the child’s cries. “Don’t worry.” He whispered as he hugged the child. “I promise you’ll get revenge by killing me with these warm hands ” he said as he held the child’s hands with his hands that’s covered in cold blood. ” so when that day comes… don’t hesitate like how I didn’t hesitate when I killed your parents… my family…” he said and sobbed as he slowly walked out of their now burning house, the fire lighting up the dark night.
Li Shan left Li Tian on the border of the Demonic Land and an unknown Land (later will be named Newfound Land). He heard the child cried, but he steeled his heart again and made it cold.
He took a step back towards the darkness, and walked away from the light that’s calling him through the child’s cries.
“Ah Jie…” Li Shan called, now woke up. He slowly opened his eyes and was greeted by Mu Jie’s smiling face. His eyes went wide and he’s about to sit up when he felt his body is heavy. He now noticed Mu Jie’s lying on top of him. “Mu Jie – !” he called, wide eyed, as he tried to struggle.
But, Mu Jie’s holding him tight, not letting go.
“Call me like what you called me in your sleep.” Mu Jie said, his voice surprisingly soft. He looked in his eyes and his tears fell when he saw his eyes are gentle. “Ah Shan…” he called as he leaned down and kissed him.
Li Shan choked back his sobs as he saw in the corner of his eyes the malevolent energy filling the whole room. He closed his eyes and kissed him back.
This will be the last time Mu Jie will retain his sanity.
Newfound Land.
“Aia. Sect Leader Xie.” A sect leader of one of the sects called Xie Lan. “You said your sect will be the vanguard, so why there’s only six of you?” he asked, sneering as he looked at the four disciples of the Newfound Sect Chen Sheng, Fei Yin, Li Tian and Feng Mo. “And one of them even still in their Qi Condensation Stage ”
Xie Lan’s face is blank as he cut him off. “My disciples are more than enough of you.” He told him.
The sect leader’s eyes went wide.
“And ” Xie Lan said as he looked at Chen Sheng, his blank face curved into a smile. ” my disciple’s (Chen Sheng) brain is far greater than yours.” He added and smirked at the idiot sect leader.
“You – !” the sect leader said, glaring at Xie Lan as his disciples glared at Chen Sheng and the others.
“Enough.” It was Fei Huang. He’s with Li Shan and Xi Peng. Ming Ye, Luo Shi and the sect leader of the Promising Sect stepped in, too.
They all looked at the vast dark land before them. They’re in the border of the Newfound Land and Demonic Land.
“Let’s go.” Fei Huang said.
“Yes!” they all answered.
But, before they could take a step in, a massive malevolent energy came flying towards them.
