The Daily Life Of The Scum - Chapter 69 Day 68
“Don’t panic!” Fei Yin yelled at the glowing talisman when his fellow disciples called him non stop after they saw the malevolent energy outside is eating the barrier that’s surrounding the Newfound Land.
“But, Senior Brother Fei ” the disciple on the other line said.
“What’s that – ?!” one of the disciples nearby the sect said.
“What?”
“What is it?”
Fei Yin looked outside and immediately ran. Just as he reached the outside and looked up to the sky, something flew around him and shot up to the sky.
It was a talisman, followed by many others that’s flying to the sky like rockets.
“Talismans?!”
“Could it be – ?!”
The talismans covered the barrier from the inside. A second later and everything was covered in light.
“Wah – !” the disciples exclaimed, blinded by light.
Fei Yin covered his eyes with his arms and squinted. It was the talismans that’re glowing. “The Evil Dispelling Talismans…” he muttered.
His eyes went wide when the burned out talismans were replaced by new ones. He turned and saw some talismans are flying from the sides, too.
“That’s – !” he said.
It was Lei Ling’s position. Fei Yin turned and saw there’re talismans flying from the other side. Could it be… he thought.
It could only be Wen Yan, the one that likes Lei Ling. The two are flying around the Newfound Land, replacing the burned out talismans with the new ones.
“Sheng!” Fei Yin called and turned to look at the door of Chen Sheng’s room. So many talismans…! He – ! he thought, mad, and marched towards Chen Sheng’s room.
He was about to knock when he was thrown away by a force. He landed on both of his feet and glared at the door. He saw a barrier around Chen Sheng’s room.
“Sheng!” he called, mad.
Chen Sheng must’ve created new types of talismans. He thought when he saw talismans surrounding Chen Sheng’s room.
“Sheng! Stop – !” he shouted, mad. “Don’t use your power more – !” he yelled and tried to walk towards Chen Sheng’s room when he was thrown away again. “Sheng! Put down the barrier – !” he yelled.
But, there was no answer. He gritted his teeth. Damn it! He thought.
“So he put a barrier around him so that I won’t detect him.” a voice behind Fei Yin said.
Fei Yin froze. This voice! He thought and turned, wide eyed. He felt like he was hit by lightning. Why is he here…? He thought, horrified, as he looked at the black robe the man is wearing.
“Li Shan…” he muttered under his breath.
How did he get in here?!
Newfound Land border.
Fei Huang saw in the corner of his eyes Old Lao’s head moved, though so slightly it’s almost unnoticeable.
“What’s wrong?” he asked and he stabbed a demonic cultivator in the heart.
Fang Wen’s move earlier incited the raging demonic cultivators and attacked them. The battle finally starts.
“Him.” Old Lao answered.
Fei Huang’s eyes narrowed. “… go.” He said and hit the enemy with his sword. “What are you looking? I already told you, go.” He told him when Old Lao just looked at him. “Go!” he yelled and gritted his teeth, mad, as he cut the head off of the enemy.
Old Lao nodded and flew towards the Newfound Land. They already saw earlier that the malevolent energy covering the barrier protecting the Newfound Land is subsiding.
Something happened inside.
“I’m going tsk!” Fang Wen clicked his tongue when a demonic cultivator blocked his way. “Tsk!” he said, annoyed, when more surrounded him.
Old Lao was near the barrier when he stopped. He turned to Fei Huang.
“What?” Fei Huang asked.
“The next wave of the enemies is stronger.” Old Lao said. “Be careful.” He added and flew, then entered the barrier where there’s no malevolent energy.
“Old Lao is amazing…” Fei Lin said, awed. “Ah. Wait. What does he mean by what he said?” he asked and looked at his uncle.
Fei Huang didn’t answer and looked at Mu Jie who’s pissed since almost all of the demonic cultivators are annihilated.
“Could it be…?” Mu Xin suddenly said, alarm on his face as he looks at the incoming enemies.
“What do you… hah!” Chen Shen gasped when he saw a large group behind the demonic cultivators.
“What is – ?” Xi Ling asked, puzzled, when he looked at the newcomers. “More demonic cultivators.” He said, frowning.
“No…” Chen Shen said.
“Huh?” Xi Ling said and looked at him, puzzled.
But, Chen Shen didn’t answer.
“How can this be…?” Mu Xin muttered, wide eyed, as he looked at the new group of demonic cultivators.
“What is it?” Xie Lan asked.
“Could this be what that guy said…?” Fei Huang muttered, referring to Old Lao.
“They’re…” Mu Xin said as he looked at the snow white skin of the newcomers. “Modified bodies…” he muttered under his breath.
“What?” Luo Shi said.
“Modified bodies?” Ming Ye asked, puzzled. “What’s that?” he asked.
But, Mu Xin didn’t answer.
Chen Shen answered for the others. “A modified body, as the name suggests, is a body that is modified.” He said.
“How?” they asked.
“One’s qi, no matter how good they are, their qi isn’t pure.” Chen Shen said. “There’s still malevolent energy inside them, though so little and dormant but there still is.” He explained.
“Your point is…?” Xi Ling asked.
“What if there’s a body that possesses pure qi?” Chen Shen asked and looked at the others.
Their eyes went wide.
“Yes.” He said. “Those are modified bodies.” He answered.
“But… that’s ” Ming Ye said.
“Not impossible.” Chen Shen said.
They looked at him.
“Since I was in one before.” He said and looked at Mu Xin who’s still shocked.
“What do you mean?” Luo Shi asked.
Chen Shen looked at him. “When my soul is wandering… my soul possessed a modified body.” He answered. “Well… I was given one.” he said and glanced at Mu Xin who’s now recovering from shock.
“You…!” Mu Xin said, glaring at his father.
“What?” Mu Jie said evilly grinning. “You really thought I can’t make ones like this?” he asked and pointed the modified bodies behind him.
They are lifeless bodies. The difference between the zombies (fierce corpses) and the modified bodies is that the modified bodies doesn’t feel anything (e.g. resentment), and that their body isn’t rotting but instead full of life.
Which is ironic since they don’t have life.
“How are the modified bodies made?” Xie Lan asked.
Mu Xin answered. “Only us, demonic cultivators, could make it.” he said, his face serious as he glares at Mu Jie. “Although they are modified bodies, but actually, they’re not a corpse.” He turned to them. “We accumulate qi and thread the qi we gathered.” He explained.
“Is that possible…?” Fei Huang asked.
“Yes.” Mu Xin answered. “By Soul Threading Technique.” He said.
They all turned to him sharply.
“Soul Threading?” Luo Shi asked.
“A Soul Technique?!” Xi Ling said, surprised. His family’s special technique is a Soul Technique Soul Eviction Technique.
“Yes.” Mu Xin said. “Although we could compact the qi, then condense it, but it won’t be the same size as a human body.” He said. “And so, we use a soul to link the qi. The soul, having no body but still has a human form, the qi could be shaped as it is.” He explained.
They’re all shocked speechless.
“But… how can you say only a demonic cultivator could do a modified body?” Fei Lin asked.
Mu Xin turned to him. “If you have qi… would you waste it instead of use it to further your cultivation?” he asked.
Nobody answered.
“That’s why it’s only us, demonic cultivators, could create a modified body since we don’t need qi.” He explained.
Silence fell.
“Wait.” It was Xi Ling. “You said… you have a Soul Technique?” he asked and looked at Mu Xin.
“Yes.” Mu Xin answered.
“How…?” Xi Ling said. “There’s more than one Soul Technique?” he asked, shocked.
Silence fell upon them.
“But of course!” the forgotten and ignored Mu Jie said.
They all turned to him.
“What do you mean?” Xi Ling asked.
Mu Jie grinned. “Not only two, but more Soul Techniques are there.” He answered.
Their forehead knotted.
“Ah… you still don’t know…” he said and sighed. He looked at them. “The Soul Techniques are from BaiLong Continent.” he told them.
Their eyes went wide. “What…?” they said.
“The Soul Techniques here in HuiLong… of course, they’re ” Mu Jie said and maliciously grinned as he looked at Xi Ling’s pale and shocked face.
Mu Xin’s glaring at his father, further and further displeased.
“Ling!” Fei Lin called and supported his lover when Xi Ling almost collapsed because of shock. “Calm down. We still don’t know yet wh ”
Xi Ling raised his hand. Fei Lin stopped. “No…” he said, his face dark as he steadied himself. “I’m fine. I’m very calm right now.” he said. “In fact…” he said and balled his fist. His hand was covered by purple fire.
Their eyes went wide. “This is…” they said.
“What is it?” Chen Shen asked Mu Xin. Mu Xin shook his head, also puzzled.
But the Righteous cultivators all knew that purple flame. It’s the Soul Evicting Flame of the Xi family.
“Ling…?” Fei Lin called.
“You said modified bodies are made by souls as its foundation. Correct?” Xi Ling asked Mu Xin.
“Yes.” Mu Xin answered.
“Then ” Xi Ling said and grinned as his other hand was lit up by purple flame, too. He lifted his face, madly grinning. ” this just makes everything perfect – !” he said and his eyes narrowed as he looked at the countless modified bodies before them.
Their eyes went wide, realizing it.
“You don’t mean – !” Fei Lin said, panicked. “Ling! You’ll exhaust yourself ” he said.
Xi Ling is going to evict the soul inside the modified bodies.
Xi Ling turned to his lover. “Then what are you all here for?” he asked. “Aren’t we all helping each other?” he said.
Their eyes went wide, then looked at each other. They then smiled, then turned to Xi Ling. “Yes!” they said as they turned to Mu Jie.
“Wait.” Mu Xin said. “I already told you the modified bodies are made of qi. If you could take in qi, then they, too.” He explained and looked at the others. “They could take your qi, too.” He told them.
“Then ” Fang Wen said, grinning as he lit up his sword. ” it’s only a matter of who is faster.” He said.
They smiled. The second wave of the battle now starts.
Newfound Sect.
“Ugh – !” Fei Lin cried when his back hit the floor. He coughed up blood. Damn it – ! he thought as he looked at the broken ceiling and walls that’re full of holes and collapsed.
Ever since Fei Yin saw Li Shan behind him, he immediately attacked, not giving the opponent a chance to react. He didn’t even give him a time to counter as he ruthlessly lunged at him, continuously following up his every move as he attacked Li Shan.
But, a difference between a low level Nascent Soul Stage (Fei Yin) and a high level Nascent Soul Stage (Li Shan) is just too great.
Even if there’s only two level difference, but still…
“How the hell did you get in here…?” Fei Yin asked and coughed as he get on his knee, wiping the blood off his mouth.
It’s been an hour since he’s attacking Li Shan, yet the other didn’t even has a scratch.
“I am still a Righteous cultivator.” Li Shan answered.
Fei Yin scoffed. “It’s clear as day you’re not one.” he said and looked at the malevolent energy Li Shan is emitting.
Li Shan obviously manipulated the malevolent energy inside him to pass as a Righteous cultivator, which he always does. That’s what he did so that he could get inside the barrier protecting the Newfound Land.
Clearly, everybody overlooked this fact. Li Shan is still a Righteous cultivator for them.
Fei Yin cursed and coughed blood when his chest hurt. He fell on his hands and knees again, could only watch as Li Shan walked past him and went to Chen Sheng’s room.
“Wait ” Fei Yin called, coughing. A quarter of his ribs are damaged. “Wait!” he yelled.
Li Shan stopped outside Chen Sheng’s room.
“Don’t… don’t…” he said and collapsed on the floor. Damn it. He cursed as he watched Li Shan break the barrier around Chen Sheng’s room. His body feels weak.
“Brother Fei!” a voice called.
Fei Yin moved his eyes and saw Li Tian together with Chen Han, Sun Yi, Wu Yuan, Feng Mo, Wu Bai, Lei Ling and Wen Yan. They’re standing not far from him.
As for the Newfound Sect disciples… Li Shan must’ve…
Fei Yin closed his eyes tight, gritting his teeth as he lies on the floor, half dead.
“Li Shan!” Chen Han called, shocked, when they saw Li Shan outside Chen Sheng’s room.
Their eyes narrowed as they unsheathed their sword.
“Ah.” Li Shan said and turned to them. “Nephew.” He called to Li Tian.
Li Tian didn’t answer and just glared at Li Shan.
“… they know now?” he asked and looked at the serious faces of them. “So they do.” He said.
Li Shan is referring to Li Tian having the blood of demonic cultivator.
“I won’t conform to you.” Li Tian said, gritting his teeth as he pointed his sword to his uncle. “Leave Brother Chen alone.” He told his uncle.
Li Shan stared at him. Before they could blink, Li Tian was already flying away.
“Tian!” Chen Han called and caught his wife falling. “Ugh – !” he cried when they fell.
Their eyes went wide when they saw something sticking out of Chen Han’s left shoulder.
“Han…” Li Tian murmured as he turned to Chen Han. His eyes went wide when he saw Chen Han was hit. “Han!” he called and cried as his hands trembled careful not touching Chen Han.
“Senior Brother Chen!” Feng Mo and Lei Ling called.
“Brother Chen!” Sun Yi and Wu Yuan called when Chen Han lost consciousness.
They all turned and glared at Li Shan. Li Shan sighed and ignored them. He finally broke the last layer of barrier surrounding Chen Sheng’s room.
But, what’s inside surprised him… and them (Fei Yin and the others).
The room is empty. Not a trace of Chen Sheng inside.
Somewhere around the Newfound Land.
“Hm~” Chen Sheng hummed as he threw another talisman. It flew up to the sky and dissipated the malevolent energy covering the barrier outside.
When Lei Ling didn’t come to his room to pick up more talismans, Chen Sheng knew something must’ve started inside the barrier.
And so he snuck out under their noses.
Chen Sheng stopped when he saw more disciples lying on the ground. He was about to take out a Qi Replenishing Talisman, the one he gave the other disciples, too, to heal their wounds and replenish their qi.
But, somebody beat him to it and healed them (disciples). Not only one, but two.
He looked up and saw three gentlemen standing not far from him two on his left and one on his side.
