The Daily Life Of The Scum - Chapter 71 Day 70
“Let’s talk about this when this is all over. For now, help the others.”
Yu Sheng remembered what his master told him. He looked at Mu Jun who’s looking at Mu Jie.
“The rebellion happened hundreds of years ago.” Mu Jun said as they flew towards the Demonic Land. “You’ve been asleep until 15 years ago.” He told him.
“What do you mean?” he asked.
“… you truly woke up 15 years ago.” Mu Jun said.
“How about my memories the past 18 years?” he asked.
“…” Mu Jun looked at him. “… It was all made up.” he told him.
Yu Sheng gritted his teeth. Mu Jun… he thought. What the hell have you done?
“Yu Sheng.”
Yu Sheng blinked and turned when he heard Zu Zhe’s voice. He saw Zu Zhe’s looking at him. “… Zhe.” He called.
“Sheng ge!” Xi Ling called and half-ran half-walked towards Yu Sheng. “Sheng ge… you’re really fine!” he said and smiled.
Yu Sheng looked at him, then forced a smile.
“Who’s that?” Fei Lin asked and looked at Zu Zhe.
Zu Zhe immediately hid. Fei Lin’s forehead knotted.
“He’s my …” Yu Sheng said, then glanced at Zu Zhe.
“Is he from BaiLong, too?” Luo Shi asked. He and Ming Ye are now healed.
“No.” Yu Sheng answered.
Their eyes went wide. “Then…” they said, their face went serious. “… from HeiLong?” they asked.
“No.” Yu Sheng answered.
They looked at him.
“It was Mu Jun that’s from HeiLong.” He said and looked at Mu Jun who’s single-handedly defeating Mu Jie.
Their eyes went wide and looked at Mu Jun. The moment they first met him, they already sensed something different from him.
He’s all shrouded in mystery, this man formerly called ‘Old Lao’.
“So it really exists…” Chen Shen said. Mu Xin is helping him walk. “BaiLong… and HeiLong…” he said.
“Where do you think the Demonic Sect is from?” Mu Jun asked.
Mu Jie is unconscious, beaten half dead. The modified bodies, since they’re made up of pure qi, are afraid of the malevolent energy to touch them.
That’s why they fear Mu Jun.
“What do you mean?” Mu Xin asked.
Mu Jun turned to him. “Kid, you should know your roots.” He told him. “Even though HeiLong has malevolent energy, it isn’t enough for us demonic cultivators.” He said. “The Demonic Land may be rich in malevolent energy, but where do you think the malevolent energy is coming from?” he asked.
Silence fell. They just know the Demonic Land is rich in malevolent energy because it was a given. As to where the malevolent energy is coming from… maybe the demonic cultivator themselves don’t know it, too.
“Like the malevolent energy, I came from HeiLong, too.” Mu Jun continued as he adjusted the unconscious Fei Huang in his arms.
The others looked at the Upright Sect leader. They just knew that Mu Jun accompanies Fei Huang. As to how the two met…
“Say…” Mu Jun said, calling their attention. “Would you like to hear an old story?” he asked.
They looked at each other, dark lines covering their face. Should this be the time to chitchat when the enemy is still around?
Newfound Sect.
Li Shan cried as he slowly gets up. His body felt like it was crushed by ten elephants. He felt his bones are broken and his head is heavily bleeding.
He turned when he heard footsteps. His eyes went wide when he saw it was Chen Sheng, walking towards his sect that’s now ruined.
Li Shan wanted to move, but his body doesn’t permit him to.
“Brother Li… ‘brother’…” Chen Sheng called as he looks at Li Tian and Chen Han. “Brother Lei… Wen Yan…” he said as he looked at Lei Ling, his head bleeding.
Wen Yan is covering Lei Ling.
“Senior Brother Sun… Senior Brother Wu…” he muttered and sighed when he saw the two are the most wounded.
The Promising Sect may be helping them, but this is too much.
“Feng Mo… Wu Bai…” he called as he looked at Wu Bai hugging Feng Mo, both unconscious.
There’s no need for him to confirm that these two are his past subordinates. He could feel the energy of BaiLong from them, and around the area.
Wu Bai and Feng Mo must’ve used their power to protect everybody.
“Yin…” Chen Sheng called when he saw Fei Yin is lying on the floor, unconscious and wounded, like the others.
“Hou… Sheng…” Li Shan called when he finally managed to stand. The malevolent energy supporting him.
Chen Sheng turned. “… you’re dying.” He told him as he looks at the qi energy both life and malevolent energy, inside Li Shan’s body. His qi is all in disarray for unknown reason. “… your life qi is almost burned out.” He said. “And when the malevolent energy is only left on you, you ” he said and looked at Li Shan. “… you’ll be a living corpse.” He told him. “You’re about to die.” He added.
“Hmph.” Li Shan scoffed. “If I am, then you’ll be.” He said and glared at Chen Sheng as he evilly grinned, malice flashed across his eyes. “I’ll be dragging you to hell with me – !” he said, then lunged at Chen Sheng.
Just as he’s about a step away, his whole body froze in air.
Chen Sheng spoke. “I can’t die.” He said. “I’ll never die.” He looked at Li Shan. “No matter how much you’ll kill me, I will never die.” He told him.
Li Shan’s eyes went wide, shocked. “What do you ” he said, struggling to move.
Chen Sheng didn’t answer and said instead. “Why don’t you spend your remaining hours left with the one you love?” he asked and looked at Li Shan in the eyes.
Li Shan’s eyes went wide when he saw something flashed in Chen Sheng’s eyes.
“Sh… Sheng…” Fei Yin called when he heard Chen Sheng’s voice. He tried to stand up, but he can’t.
Chen Sheng didn’t look at him. Fei Yin raised his head with much effort. He saw Li Shan and Chen Sheng, just in time when the two of them suddenly vanished.
“Sheng…” he called, his eyes slowly closed.
He lost consciousness again.
Demonic Land.
“Once there were three different realms.” Mu Jun started and waved his hand when he saw Mu Jie tried to stand up.
Mu Jie fell to the ground again. The others grimaced. The modified bodies that beat them earlier are now kneeling.
“The lowest realm, you may call hell.” Mu Jun said. “It’s a realm full of negative energy, what you call malevolent energy now.” He told them. “Negative energies such as anger, envy, greed, wrath… the worst is resentment.” He said. “The people, if you still could call them, are crazed. Not a day passed they didn’t kill their own kin.” He said, his eyes dimmed. “Only those who are sane enough, even the least, managed to escape the realm and climbed to the upper next realm, the second realm.” He said.
“That’s…” they said, listening.
Mu Jun nodded. “The middle realm.” He said. “The malevolent energy there are just little. And the malevolent energy come from the people who feel negative.” He explained. “I escaped there, together with my brother and his family.” He told them.
“You mean…” Mu Xin said.
Mu Jun nodded. “Your grandfather.” He said. “Mu Xie.” He answered.
Mu Xin fell silent.
Mu Jun continued. “He and his family lived here, and then his family grew.” He said. “But… the people here noticed they are different from them, and so they are shunned. They were then called demonics, or what you now call demonic cultivators.” He explained.
Nobody dared to speak.
“And so, to help them, I went to the highest realm.” He continued. “I wanted to find cure for us, to remove the malevolent energy inside our body.” he said.
“What happened, then?” Fang Wen asked.
“I…” Mu Jun said, then lowered his head. He waved his hand again and Mu Jie fell on the ground again.
The others looked at each other.
“That’s when the royal family found him.” Yu Sheng answered.
They all looked at him.
“Actually, he was found by my parents, who are from the middle realm.” He said.
“That’s…” Zu Zhe said.
Yu Sheng turned to him. “Not from your story, right?” he asked and smiled. “Since I’m an orphan there…” he said.
Zu Zhe frowned when Yu Sheng messed his hair. Yu Sheng just laughed.
The others looked at each other, more puzzled by the minute passed. Who is this young man?
Yu Sheng turned to them. “My parents are from the middle realm. They’re the poorest, and so they went to the higher realm to ask for help. The royal family took them under their wing. My parents then lived as their servants in exchange for the help given to them.” He explained. “During one of those days, my parents found him.” He said and looked at Mu Jun. “Half dead from crossing a realm.” He said.
“‘crossing the realms’… how do you cross a realm?” Ming Ye asked.
Yu Sheng turned to him. “You use your qi to cross the realm. The more the qi you have, the greater the times you could cross the realm.” He explained. “That’s why he’s half dead crossing the realm.” He said and looked at Mu Jun. “It requires much qi just to reach the highest realm.” He explained.
They all looked at Mu Jun. For demonic cultivators, the only qi they have is their soul. Anything else are all malevolent energy that they cultivate.
“What happened then after your parents took him?” Luo Shi asked.
“They took him to the royal family.” Yu Sheng answered. “The benevolent the royal family is, they took him in, too, like my parents.” He said. “But…”
“‘but’?” they asked.
“The royal family has long been in a rocky situation.” Yu Sheng said. “They don’t know the cause, but there’s a rebellion brewing.” He said.
Their eyes went wide.
“Then, that’s… that’s why you came here.” Chen Shen said.
“Yes.” Yu Sheng said. “But… the rebellion… ” he said. “It happened a hundred years ago.” He told them.
Their mouth fell open, shocked. But, the one the one that has the worst reaction is Zu Zhe.
“You’re an old man?!” Zu Zhe asked staring wide-eyed at Yu Sheng.
Yu Sheng looked at him, then frowned. “Should I prove to you right here right now that I’m not?” he asked, his face serious.
Zu Zhe immediately shut up. He doesn’t want to be ravaged by Yu Sheng live, in front of the others.
The others looked at each other, their face dark. This Yu Sheng… is he really the Yu Sheng that’s the Upright Sect’s prodigal disciple 15 years ago? They thought.
But, they didn’t dare to speak when Yu Sheng continued.
“Since the royal family doesn’t know the cause, they can’t make a move.” He said. “And so, the highest realm is in a stalemate. Well, on the surface.” He said and frowned. “Underneath, the people’s rebellion is getting worse.” He said. “It got worse when they found out when the royal family is keeping my parents and Mu Jun, who are from the other realms.” He added.
“So, they tried to kill the royal family?” Ming Ye asked.
“Yes.” Yu Sheng said. “But, that’s not only it.” he said.
Their forehead knotted. “There’s more?” they asked.
Yu Sheng nodded. “Yes.” He answered. “I, as well as His Highness…” he said, then paused. “We were born.” He answered.
Their eyes went wide, shocked.
“Wait.” Zu Zhe said. “You mean to say… you’re still not in the picture when the rebellion happened?” he asked, surprised.
Yu Sheng turned to him, his eyes full of understanding. “What should I do with you…?” he muttered, then sighed as he smiled, shaking his head.
“What?” Zu Zhe asked then saw the others are looking at him, too. Uhm… I think I should better shut up? he thought, then zipped his mouth.
Yu Sheng continued after taking a deep breath. “People from the other realm, though not forbidden, but still shouldn’t be in other realm.” He said. “That disrupts the movement of qi.” He explained. “But, since a child of different realm was born…” he didn’t continue.
Silence fell upon them.
After a while, Xie Lan spoke. “This still doesn’t explain what Mu Jun did.” He said, then looked at Mu Jun who’s ‘holding’ Mu Jie down. “Why do you look like you’re mad at him?” he asked, then looked at Yu Sheng.
Yu Sheng’s face went dark. “How could I not?” he asked back, frowning. “He made everything worse.” He answered. Before they could ask, he continued. “He just sent out all the malevolent energy from his body to protect the royal family and us.” he said.
Their eyes went wide.
“But ” it was Mu Xin. ” he protected the royal family ”
Yu Sheng cut him off. “That doesn’t justify it.” he said.
Mu Xin was about to speak when he dropped the bomb, along with his resentments from the incident.
“Because of him…” Yu Sheng said, gritting his teeth as his whole body shake from anger. “Because of him… His Highness’ body became frail!” he said and glared at Mu Jun who’s just silently sitting on the ground, Fei Huang in his arms.
Their eyes went wide.
As if not enough, Yu Sheng continued. “The malevolent energy affected the qi movement in the highest realm, thus affecting His Highness’ body constitution.” He said. “And… and ” he said, balling his fists.
“The highest realm, along with the two realms…” Mu Jun said. “It all changed and the space connecting the three realms were disrupted.” He said.
They all looked at him.
“Thus… the realms, which should be in different spaces, now all…” he said and looked afar. “They’re now all in just one realm ” he said, then turned to their shocked faces, clearly realizing everything. ” this.” he said. “The realms are no longer realms. Just… changed to continents.” he added.
A deafening silence fell upon them. These all are just too much to process, much less to accept these truths.
But, they got not time to spare when the modified bodies suddenly moved. They all turned, alert.
“What… why did they – ?” Xi Ling asked as they all took out their swords, on guard.
They looked around when the malevolent energy in the Demonic Land thinned. They looked at the direction where it’s going and saw it gathered around Mu Jie’s body.
Their eyes went wide when they saw Mu Jie stood up and grinned. He opened his eyes slowly and looked at them, his eyes glowing red.
“Well, well… that was a great bedtime story.” He said, smiling as he looked at Mu Jun. “Too bad the child woke up too soon.” He said, referring to himself. “Now, then. Your story’s nice and all, but ” he said and looked around. His eyes stopped in a corner, then he grinned. ” it’s time to welcome our arriving honored guest.” He said and lowered his head.
A second passed before the thought sunk in their mind. They all turned when they felt their skin tingled.
Sure enough, it was Chen Sheng.
They felt their heart was eaten and crushed at the same time. Their heart thoroughly was crushed when they saw who he’s with.
It’s none other than Li Shan, their other enemy.
Did he (Chen Sheng) woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or he finally gone crazy because of everything that’s happening, that’s why he sided with the enemy?
Whichever of the two, the answer’s not looking good for them.
The author (and Chen Sheng) has something to say:
Gray Dragon: Sheng… are you really siding with the enemy?! *cries.
Chen Sheng: *frowns. You know that’s not
Gray Dragon: WAAAAH!!! And I realized I have 14 chapters to write next – ! *wails.

Chen Sheng: … -_-+++ stop crying first – !
Gray Dragon: AAAAAAHHH!!! Will this be the end of the story, now that Chen Sheng’s siding with the enemy – ?
Chen Sheng: and don’t just casually insert a spoiler – ! -_-+++
Gray Dragon: T.T it’s not a spoiler… I’m just joking.
Chen Sheng: -_-+++++++
