The Daily Life Of The Scum - Chapter 72 Day 71
Newfound Land.
“He really went with Li Shan?!” Chen Han asked as they all ran towards the Demonic Land.
They all are now healed that’s why they’re awake and now running towards the Demonic Land where the battle is.
All of them, except Wu Bai who’s still asleep, whom Feng Mo is looking after to.
Even though they’re shocked to know Feng Mo and him (Wu Bai) are of BaiLong, but they should go to the Demonic Land first.
“But… I don’t sense any hostile energy from uncle’s trace of qi.” Li Tian told them as he looked around, must be looking at the trace of malevolent energy of Li Shan.
Li Tian, the day before the arrival of the demonic cultivators, confessed to them he’s from a family, one of the clans, of the demonic cultivators. And so, the blood of the demonic cultivators is flowing in his vein.
He has an inborn talent to cultivate using malevolent energy, and it’d make his cultivation level skyrocket. He has the choice to cultivate the dark path.
But, he didn’t. And they, of course, didn’t hate him. It was the world’s fault why Li Tian was born in a family of demonic cultivators, not Li Tian’s.
Li Tian is but a product of wrong circumstances.
“So… Junior Brother Chen really went with Li Shan.” Sun Yi said and sighed.
“Why would he go with the enemy?” Wu Yuan asked, frowning. His frown deepened when he looked at his sword.
Even though they’re all healed, but their sword that were broken by Li Shan when they fought against him.
And so they’re forced to run towards the Demonic Land, which is now only few kilometers away.
“Senior Brother Chen… he must have his reasons.” Lei Ling, silently following them, said. “He has a reason.” He said, his voice firm.
They didn’t answer. Since they know Chen Sheng’s personality, of course, obviously, they know it, too.
Chen Sheng wouldn’t do something without a cause. But, just what is this cause that made him choose Li Shan over them (his friends)?
Demonic Land.
“Chen… Sheng…” everybody muttered under their breath as they looked at the man whom everything revolves to.
“Your Highness…!” Yu Sheng said and knelt, then respectfully bowed.
“Prince Hou Sheng.” Mu Jun said and bowed. He can’t kneel since Fei Huang is still in his arms.
They all turned to Mu Jun sharply when they heard the name he said. ‘Hou Sheng’?! they all thought, shocked, and looked back to Chen Sheng.
‘Hou Sheng’… Zu Zhe thought, his face serious as he looks at Chen Sheng. That’s the password for him to call the system (don’t tell me you already forgotten this? XD).
They looked at each other, shock and bewilderment on their face. Should they also kneel to this man (Hou Sheng)? They thought as they looked at Chen Sheng, his aura very imposing.
He’s a prince, and the most powerful they’ve known so far. Even Fang Wen and Xie Lan Chen Sheng’s ‘parents’, they can’t speak carelessly towards their disciple whose identity and origin is deep and mysterious.
It was the ignored and forgotten, again, Mu Jie who broke the silence. (Since he was forgotten and overshadowed by CS’ grand entrance. xD)
“Finally…” Mu Jie said, grinning evilly. “So you finally can’t bear to see your comrades hurt, and so you delivered yourself to me?” he asked and looked at Chen Sheng, full of taunt.
They all narrowed their eyes and glared at Mu Jie as they unsheathed their sword. Mu Jun can’t use his power now since he’s in the presence of Hou Sheng, the prince he almost caused to die.
Also, Fei Huang is still in his arms, unconscious, and so he can’t use his full power.
“Mu Jie… how dare you – !” Fang Wen said, murderously glaring at Mu Jie.
He was about to take a step when Chen Sheng raised his hand. They all subconsciously froze, almost jumped in fright and surprise.
“… he has someone who he has to deal with.” Chen Sheng calmly said, his expression can’t be read.
They all turned to him, then to the man behind him. Their face went serious when they saw Li Shan silently standing behind Chen Sheng.
He’s looking at Mu Jie directly.
Right. They thought. They almost forgot this guy, the second biggest enemy they have to face. But… they thought as they looked at Chen Sheng who’s as calm as the deepest ocean.
Li Shan looked fine. Did Chen Sheng really sided with Li Shan?
“He didn’t.” Yu Sheng said.
They all looked at him.
“What do you mean?” Fei Lin asked.
“… that man is about to die.” Yu Sheng answered.
Their eyes went wide, shocked, as they turned to Li Shan whose face is as calm as Chen Sheng.
But, they must have been blinded by their anger towards the man earlier that they didn’t see the emotion that was obviously shown in his eyes.
It was pain, suffering… and longing.
Promising Sect.
“What the hell happened to them?!”
“Puppets…?”
“They suddenly just stopped…”
“What? You want them to sing and dance for you – ?”
Wu Fan sighed as he wiped the sweat off his forehead. They mostly managed to hold off the demonic sect’s puppets that attacked the Promising Land.
Last week, Ming Ye and Luo Shi already informed him that the two of them will be staying in the Newfound Land to help the Newfound Sect.
This isn’t a problem, and Wu Fan already expected this. He still has more sect elders on his side, which the Newfound Sect doesn’t have.
It’s only Fang Wen that’s the sole elder of the Newfound Sect, even after 15 years.
“Burn them.” Wu Fan told the sect elders and the disciples as he looked at the modified bodies.
Yes. He has somewhat had an idea as to what are these ‘puppets’ of the demonic cultivators that could suck their qi and could fight back to them.
“Don’t make a direct contact.” He added and turned.
“Yes!” they answered and bowed. They then took out talismans to burn the corpses.
Wu Fan reached the balcony and gazed at the wide, vast land before him.
“Yuan-er…” he muttered and took a deep breath. “My son…! I hope he’s fine! Oh, god…!” he exclaimed and brushed his face with his own hands. “What should I tell Mian?” he asked, referring to his late wife who died giving birth to their son.
He paced back and forth.
The sect elders looked at each other, then sighed. They’re already used to this doting side of their sect leader.
They continued burning the modified bodies.
“Sect Leader Wu.” Chen Jing, the Chen family’s clan leader and family head. He landed on the floor and sheathed his sword.
“Sect Leader Wu.” Chen Qing, Chen Jing’s wife, and Chen Han’s and Chen Shen’s mother, greeted and respectfully bowed. She excused herself and flew down to help with the sect elders.
Wu Fan nodded and turned to Chen Jing. “Chen Jing!” he said, then frowned. “Are you here to finally take back the title of the sect leader?” he asked and glared at Chen Jing.
Chen Jing exasperatedly sighed. How many times must I tell him I don’t have any interest on the title? he thought, then looked at Wu Fan.
It’s the person who has the title he’s interested.
Chen Qing was forced, and Chen Jing was, too, to get married and have children so that the Chen family could live on.
They are forced, since they already have someone in their heart.
Unfortunately, the other’s special someone died early, while the other’s special someone is hell-bent on hating him.
Chen family sure has their own misfortune and it’s their love life.
Newfound Land.
Wu Yuan froze for a second when a chill went down his spine.
“What happened?” Sun Yi asked, obviously noticed the littlest detail of his lover even though they’re on a mission.
“… my father.” He answered.
“Something happened to the Promising Sect?!” Chen Han asked.
“No.” Wu Yuan immediately answered. “It’s just my father… said my name.” he said, his answer unclear.
But to Sun Yi and Chen Han, it’s as clear as day since they’ve noticed the ‘abnormal’ behavior of the Promising Sect’s leader.
It’s clearly the same behavior of the Chen family’s head, only that the Promising Sect’s leader’s behavior is explicit.
“Stop the chitchat.” Fei Yin said, his face serious. “We’re almost there ” he told them.
They nodded. They were about to answer when Fei Yin froze. Unlike Wu Yuan, Fei Yin froze longer.
Like for… half an hour.
What the hell happened to this guy (Fei Yin)?
Upright Sect.
“Thank you very much for the help!” the Newfound Land citizens said and gratefully bowed to Elder Ho who’s temporarily in charge of the sect since Fei Huang, together with Fei Lin and Xi Ling, went to the Newfound Land to help and never went back since.
Elder Ho nodded and smiled as he bowed back. “You’re all very much welcome. We’re glad we could help.” He answered as he turned to another citizen of the Newfound Land.
He took a quick glance to the citizens that’re appearing from the teleportation array. Fei Lin must’ve made them use the Upright Sect’s teleportation array to make the Newfound Land’s citizens’ arrival to the Upright Sect faster.
“Shifu.” A voice called.
Elder Ho turned and saw his eldest disciple. “Xian er.” He called. “What is it?” he asked. “Have you finished instructing your fellow disciples?” he asked and looked at the other disciples under Fei Lin.
Some of his own disciples are also with them, giving food and blankets to the Newfound Land citizens. The remaining ones are escorting the citizens to the sect’s refuge center for the citizens to temporarily stay at.
“Yes.” Gong Xian answered and respectfully bowed. He turned and took out a handkerchief. He smiled as he tiptoed to reach his master’s forehead, then wiped the sweat. “Shifu should not be tired too much.” He told him.
Ho Yue nodded, then removed his disciple’s hand that’s still on his face. “Go and prepare more futons for our guests (Newfound Land citizens) to use.” He told him.
“Yes, shifu!” Gong Xian answered and bowed. He looked at the long line of the Newfound Land citizens, then immediately ran away.
Ho Yue watched as his disciple ran. Despite he’s the youngest elder of the sect, next to the formerly missing Yu Sheng who he’s just a few years older to, he now has five disciples for the past 15 years.
Gong Xian is the eldest and the first disciple, and there’re three more male disciples other than him. The other one left is a female.
Ho Yue greeted and bowed when a Newfound Land citizen thanked him. He raised his head and looked at the dark gray sky afar. It looks like it’ll be raining.
He wonder what could be now happening to the others.
Demonic Land.
“Li Shan.” Mu Jie said, his face blank as he looked at Li Shan when Li Shan stepped in front. “So you really conformed with them.” He said, his voice cold.
The others are shocked. “What?!” they said, shocked.
Li Shan lowered his head. “Ah Jie, I ” he said, then bit his lip.
“‘Ah Jie’?!” they said and looked at Mu Jie.
Mu Jie ignored them. “What?” he said. “You can’t do what I’ve said anymore?” he asked, frowning at Li Shan.
Li Shan didn’t answer.
“What’s going on?” Ming Ye asked.
“A falling out?” Fang Wen asked.
Again, Li Shan didn’t answer.
Mu Jie scoffed, ignoring the others as he coldly looked at Li Shan. “No matter if you’d come clean to them right now, your hands are already full of their comrades’ blood.” He told him. “You may have not killed this time, but…” he said and coldly grinned.
Their forehead knotted.
“What is he talking about?” Xi Ling asked, puzzled, as he looked at Mu Jie and Li Shan, back and forth.
“It seems like our disciples our safe this time.” Xie Lan said and patted Fang Wen’s shoulder.
Fang Wen sighed, relieved.
“May I?” Li Shan asked to Chen Sheng after a while.
“… you may.” Chen Sheng answered.
The others looked at them.
“What is he (Chen Sheng) doing?” Chen Shen asked as he looked at Chen Sheng, his forehead knotted.
“What is he doing?” Fei Lin asked as he looked at Li Shan who’s approaching Mu Jie.
“Is he going to face him (Mu Jie) alone?” Luo Shi asked.
“But, earlier… Yu Sheng said Li Shan’s gonna die…” Ming Ye said.
They all looked at Li Shan.
“What?” Mu Jie asked, frowning, when Li Shan stopped in front of him.
The others are watching them closely, waiting.
Li Shan took a deep breath before he raised his head. “Ah Jie…” he called as he stared at Mu Jie’s face. “… when will you wake up?” he asked, his face serious.
“What?” Mu Jie said, his forehead knotted. “What do you mean?” he asked.
Li Shan stared at him for a long time they thought he wouldn’t answer.
“I see…” he said, then lowered his head as he smiled a bitter smile. “Seems like he really gone deep in your mind… you finally broke yourself.” He said, his voice low. “Well, we’re the same now…” he said, then sighed. “Ah Jie…” he called as he held his side. “I hope you won’t regret this.” he said and smiled as he took out a dagger.
Their eyes went wide, shocked, and looked at Mu Jie who’s as shocked as them. They thought Li Shan’s going to kill Mu Jie.
What happened next is truly unexpected.
Li Shan’s about to stab his chest when his whole body froze. His eyes went wide, shocked, as he dropped the dagger and he collapsed on the ground.
“What happened?!” they all asked, shocked, as they looked at the wide-eyed Li Shan lying on the ground. “What happened to him?!”
“Your Highness…” Yu Sheng called, looking at Chen Sheng.
Chen Sheng didn’t answer and just watched the scene.
Mu Jie stared at Li Shan who’s lying in front of him, his side bleeding. His forehead knotted. Li Shan looked perfectly fine earlier when he arrived with Chen Sheng. How can he have a wound? He thought and looked at Chen Sheng.
But, Chen Sheng’s face is just blank as he looks back at them two.
“Li Shan.” Mu Jie called and stared at Li Shan who’s still lying on the ground. “What are you doing? You’re causing shame on me.” he told him and his eyes narrowed as he gritted his teeth. “Stand up.” he called.
But, Li Shan didn’t answer.
A vein popped in his forehead. “I said ‘stand up’, damn it – !” he cursed and was about to kick Li Shan when Li Shan’s body twitched.
“Huh?” the others said, puzzled.
In just a few seconds, Li Shan’s body stopped moving and Mu Jie, wide-eyed, started screaming.
“Aaaargh – !” Mu Jie screamed, holding his head.
“… I thank you for giving me a perfect host to settle in.” a voice said.
Everybody is puzzled, except two.
“Mu Xie.” It was Mu Jun, his face serious. “So you really had a deviation.” He said.
“… and so another character appears.” Zu Zhe muttered and sighed.
Everybody looked at him, more puzzled than the current situation. Just what is this guy? They thought as they looked at Zu Zhe.
Newfound Land.
“Brother Fei? Brother Fei!” Li Tian called, shaking Fei Yin.
“Senior Brother Fei?!” Lei Ling called, worried.
“Junior Brother Fei…?” Sun Yi called, puzzled. Wu Yuan’s just blank.
Fei Yin heard their words are warped. What happened…? He thought as he looked around. Everything’s dark. What happened to me – ?! he thought. Move, body! I need to save Sheng – !
“You don’t have time for that.” A voice said.
Fei Yin’s eyes went wide as he turned. “That’s – !” he said, recognizes the voice.
“… missed me?” the voice asked.
