The Daily Life Of The Scum - Chapter 74 Day 73
Lowest Realm.
“Papa. Papa.” The child called. “Why are they fighting?” he asked his father.
Mu Xie held his son tight and smiled at his sickly wife. “Don’t look. Just close your eyes.” He told his son, Mu Jie.
“Mn.” Mu Jie answered and nodded.
Mu Xie looked around and his heart ached as he looks at the red sky and red air with the smell of rustic iron.
Yes. The sky is red because of too much bloodshed in this land. Even the air they breathe is the smell of the other people’s blood.
We can’t stay here longer. He thought as he looked at his wife when she coughed. He bit his lip and transferred a gentle flow of dark energy to her body to quell the rampaging dark energy on her blood.
They all are already born like this the moment they woke up. The dark energy in their blood is boiling, making them feel hatred and all other unpleasant feelings towards others and so killing started.
But, there are exceptions. Like him and his elder brother. It must be because of their high mental fortitude to tolerate this scene every day, as well as their blood boiling, and so they are still sane.
Well, he is still somewhat sane. He once lost his sanity and bore a child with a woman who tried to kill him. And the woman became his wife, and their child is Mu Jie.
“Xie.” A voice called. “I finally found the mythical pass to the other realms.”
Mu Xie turned and saw Mu Jun. They’re actually not brothers. Everyone that lives in the Lowest Realm is surnamed Mu.
“Thanks!” Mu Xie said, delighted, as he carried Mu Jie and helped his wife stand up. “Let’s go.” He said.
Mu Jun nodded. “Yes.” He said, then lowered his head.
“What’s wrong?” Mu Xie asked when he saw Mu Jun is low spirited as they walked towards the place that connects the two realms.
They’re going to escape from this hell.
“Xie.” He called and glanced at Mu Xie’s wife when she coughed. “I don’t think she’ll get through the portal.” He said.
“What do you mean?” he asked.
Mu Jun took a deep breath and raised his hand in front of the swirling mass of air. Mu Xie’s eyes went wide when he saw sparkling particles come out of Mu Jun’s body and went to the portal.
“What’s that?” he asked, looking at the sparkling particles in the air.
“A part of my soul.” Mu Jun answered.
Mu Xie looked at him.
“This portal eats qi. So, if you want to pass, you had to…” he said and stopped when Mu Xie’s wife coughed blood and fell on her knees.
Mu Xie immediately helped her up. “Don’t worry.” He told her. “We’ll definitely get to the middle realm.” He said.
She coughed. “I… won’t last long…” she said. “But, I want to see a different sky.” She said and smiled as she coughed again.
“Jun…” Mu Xie called and looked at Mu Jun.
Mu Jun nodded and they helped her up. “I’ll help. For the sake of your child.” He said and smiled at the young Mu Jie.
He patted Mu Jie’s head.
They’ve crossed the realm and arrived in the middle realm. Their soul’s strength was halved, but it was Mu Xie’s wife who was affected much. The moment she stepped foot on the middle realm, long enough to see the vast blue sky and inhaled the clean, fresh air, she fainted.
Mu Xie carried her while Mu Jun carried Mu Jie. They looked for a house to stay in and found one deep in the forest.
“Our blood had dark energy, and there’s none of it here in this realm.” Mu Jun said one day when he looked around the place. He saw a group of houses and asked for food to bring home.
The good natured people gave him some.
“She won’t last long if she’ll stay in here.” Mu Jun told Mu Xie.
“Then what should we do?” he asked and sighed as he fixed his sleeping wife’s hair. Mu Jie is playing on the corner.
It was a long while before Mu Jun answered. “We’ll replace the dark energy in her blood with pure energy.” He answered.
Mu Xie’s eyes went wide, shocked. “What are you… ” he said, but fell silent when he saw Mu Jun’s serious face. “Is that possible?” he asked and looked at his wife.
“I think so.” Mu Jun answered. “Like we could feed ourselves with dark energy, I think we’re also capable of feeding from pure energy.” He explained.
Mu Xie looked at him. “How can you say this?” he asked.
“I…” Mu Jun said. “I’ve been going back and forth from here to there.” He answered and lowered his head.
Mu Xie’s eyes went wide, shocked. “What?!” he said.
Mu Jun looked at him. “How do you think can I helped her cross the realm if I haven’t given some of my soul’s qi to her for her to pass?” he asked.
Mu Xie didn’t answer.
“Leave this to me.” he told him. “I promise I’d find a cure, not only for her, but for you and Mu Jie.” He said and looked at the child in the corner.
“Where will you find it?” Mu Xie asked. “… highest realm?” he asked.
Mu Jun didn’t answer.
Mu Xie sighed and lowered his head. “Thanks.” He told Mu Jun.
Mu Jun nodded. He patted Mu Jie’s head and turned to Mu Xie. “I’ll be back.” he told him.
“You never returned, Jun. Never.” Mu Xie said as he glared at Mu Jun who’s behind Chen Sheng.
Yes. Chen Sheng jumped in just in time before the malevolent energy could hit Mu Jun and Fei Huang who was still in Mu Jun’s arms.
“Uncle!” Fei Lin called from behind them, covering Xi Ling and himself.
“Sheng!” Fei Yin called.
“Yin er?!” Fang Wen called when he heard his disciple’s voice.
“Brother Fei?!” Li Tian called.
“Brother Fei finally woke up?” Feng Mo said and sighed, relieved. He smiled at Wu Bai who’s now awake. “Welcome back.” he told him.
“I’m back.” Wu Bai said and hugged Feng Mo. “How’s master?” he asked and looked at the massive pure qi energy protecting them all from the massive malevolent energy coming from Mu Xie. “He really has finally woken up.” he said, serious.
“Yes.” Feng Mo said as they watch the two types of energy pitting against each other.
Since Chen Sheng’s power just woke up, it is unstable. But, that instability is made up by its intensity and so Chen Sheng is holding his own against Mu Xie who was born in the land full of malevolent energy.
“Step aside!” Mu Xie said, glaring at Chen Sheng who’s like a sturdy wall protecting them all from Mu Xie. “You’re of no use to me now! Step aside – !” he told him.
Chen Sheng didn’t answer. Mu Xie gritted his teeth. He was about to speak when a voice spoke.
“Father!” it was Mu Jie’s voice, calling Mu Xie.
“Dad?” Mu Xin said, surprised. “Dad! You’re… still alive…?” he asked. His tears fell.
“I’m not.” Mu Jie answered.
Mu Xin’s eyes went wide.
“I’m sorry.” he told him.
“No…” Mu Xin cried.
“Jie er!” Mu Xie called to Mu Jie and tried to grab Mu Jie’s soul, but his hand just passed through. “How – ?” he asked.
“This soul of mine is not corrupted by the dark energy.” Mu Jie said.
Mu Xie looked at him.
“It is Ah Shan’s last wish to you, right?” he asked and turned to Chen Sheng.
Chen Sheng didn’t answer.
“What is he saying?” the others asked, puzzled.
Mu Jie smiled and turned to Li Shan’s body. “Ah Shan…” he said, then lowered his head. “He must’ve explained myself to you…” he said, then smiled. A bitter smile. “Can I ask for one wish, too, like him?” he asked Chen Sheng.
“Speak.” Chen Sheng said.
“What are you two talking about?!” Mu Xie asked, mad, as the malevolent energy became stronger.
But, the pure qi energy got stronger, too.
“Can you… in our next life… can you ” Mu Jie said and looked at Chen Sheng. He opened his mouth and smiled.
Chen Sheng stared at Mu Jie’s soul for a long time before it finally vanished. He lowered his head. “I will.” He said as the pure qi energy became stronger and finally devoured the malevolent energy.
Their eyes went wide, shocked, as they closed their eyes because of the blinding light.
“Aaaaarghh – !!!” Mu Xie’s screamed split the air.
Everybody opened their eyes and turned. Their mouth fell open when they saw a large hold on the ground, stopping just an inch away from where Mu Jun, Li Tian, Chen Han and Li Shan are.
“Aaaaarghh – !!!” Mu Xie screamed.
Their eyes went wide, shocked, when they saw Mu Xie’s kneeling on the ground. Their stomach turned when they saw Mu Xie’s hands are gone, blood spewing from both his severed arms.
“Bleurgh – !” they all turned and looked away when they saw Mu Xie’s face is scorched, too, and still smoking.
“Aaaaaahhh – !” Mu Xie cried, rolling on the ground. Even his clothes are smoking.
“What… the hell happened…?” Mu Jun asked, gaping at Chen Sheng.
“Your Highness…?” Yu Sheng called as they all looked at Chen Sheng who’s standing firm in the middle of the holed ground. “Your Highness – !” he called and immediately flew towards Chen Sheng when Chen Sheng wobbled, almost falling on the ground.
“Ah Sheng!”
“Brother Chen!”
“Sheng er!”
“Senior/Junior Brother Chen!”
“Younger Chen!”
“Chen Sheng!”
“Master!”
They all called and ran towards Chen Sheng who fell on Yu Sheng’s arms.
“Stop!” Yu Sheng yelled and turned to them as he held Chen Sheng carefully on his arms.
“Sheng!” Fei Yin called and ran to the front. “Sheng – !” he called.
“I said, ‘stop’! You idiot deaf!” Yu Sheng snapped to Fei Yin. “His Highness’ power is still fluctuating.” He said. “It’ll be for a while before you all could come near him, or you’ll be burned.” He told them and turned to the still screaming Mu Xie who are rolling on the ground.
They all looked away from Mu Xie.
“Master!” Feng Mo and Wu Bai called.
Yu Sheng and Mu Jun turned to them. “You two…” they said.
Feng Mo and Wu Bai immediately knelt on the ground. “Paying our deepest respects to the prince.” They said and bowed as they looked at Chen Sheng.
“Wu Bai!” Yu Sheng called. “Feng Mo… you two… you’re still alive…” he said, surprise and delight on his face as he faced the two loyal palace guards.
He heard about them from his parents.
“Yes.” Feng Mo nodded and bowed. “I deeply apologize to what I said to you back then in the cave, offending you…” he said, referring to the cave in YuLing Village.
“Err… I still don’t know what happened to you two, but…” Yu Sheng said and looked at the sleeping Chen Sheng, who’s floating, and his pure white robe fluttering on the ground, not letting a dust dirty them.
Even his clothes are covered with qi.
“We have to make His Highness rest for a long while.” Yu Sheng said as he carried Chen Sheng. “Feng Mo. Wu Bai ” he said, then stopped. He sighed. “You’re spiritually exhausted.” He said and looked around. He frowned when he saw Mu Jun.
Seeing for the second time he caused trouble to their prince again, he can’t entrust Chen Sheng to him.
Just as he’s wondering about, Yu Sheng heard flapping of wings. He looked up. “You’re very late.” He told the beast.
“Xia Di!” they all exclaimed, surprised to saw the beast that’s always with Chen Sheng had arrived just now.
The beast landed on the ground, specifically on Mu Xie. They grimaced when they heard a scrunching sound followed by silence. The cries finally died the same time Mu Xie died under the hands of the beast who they knew vicious just now.
“Sorry. I stepped on something unpleasant. I hope master forgives me.” Xia Di said and looked at the sleeping Chen Sheng. “He got mad at me, and so he placed a restriction seal on me. I took too long to remove the seals. I finally got rid of it when they weakened because master fell asleep.” He explained.
“So many excuses.” Yu Sheng said and sighed as he carefully placed Chen Sheng behind Xia Di.
Xia Di just sighed and slowly flapped his wings. He then slowly soared to the sky.
“Ah Sheng – !”
“Sheng er!”
“Brother Chen!”
“Senior/Junior Brother Chen!”
They all called as they watch the beast vanished in their view.
“Don’t worry.” Yu Sheng said.
They looked at him.
“For now, this is His Highness’ home. It’ll take some time before he’d return to BaiLong.” He told them and turned. “‘Chen Sheng’ will be staying here for a while longer.” He said and smiled.
Their face lit up and they cheered. Li Tian smiled, relieved, as he looked at his uncle, Li Shan.
“Let me properly send him off.” Mu Jun told Li Tian and touched Li Shan’s head.
A second after and Li Shan’s body was covered in malevolent energy. It reduced until it became a black ball of malevolent energy.
Mu Jun took it and gave it to Li Tian. “Kid.” He called. “Don’t be afraid of your blood, since the true blood of demonic cultivators will end with me.” he told him and smiled.
Li Tian’s eyes went wide as he watched Mu Jun walked away.
“Tian.”
Li Tian turned to saw Chen Han. “Han…” he called, then lowered his head. He looked at his uncle.
A tear fell from his eye and he raised his hands. The small ball of malevolent energy flew in the air and dissipated.
More tears fell from his eyes when he felt the warmth of his lover.
“I’m just here…” Chen Han told him. “We’re just here. We’re your family.” He said and kissed Li Tian’s temple.
“But, I’m ” Li Tian said.
“A Righteous Cultivator.” Chen Han said. He looked at him. He smiled as he wiped his wife’s tears. “That man said it, right? You don’t have the blood of a demonic cultivator, and so you don’t need to fear your blood.” He told him and hugged him tight.
Li Tian cried on his arms, pouring out all of his kept emotions in his heart the past years he lived.
They all looked at Mu Jun who made Mu Jie’s corpse into a small ball of malevolent energy and made it flew in the air. It then dissipated in the air.
“Things have finally ended, I guess.” Fei Huang said as they all looked at each other. He finally woke up earlier and is now standing on the Upright Sect’s side.
“Yes.” Xie Lan said.
A long silence fell upon them. It was broken when they heard Chen Shen yelled.
“What?!” he said, mad. “You want to end your life as a compensation for all the things your sect caused?!” he asked, glaring at Mu Xin. He then turned to Mu Jun. “And who are you to decide what’s right for him?!” he asked him, his eyes full of hate, and then pointed the silent Mu Xin.
They all turned.
“What Mu Jun’s saying about earlier that the true blood of the demonic cultivators ending with him is…” Li Tian said, looking at the three making an aftermath ruckus.
Chen Shen sharply turned to Li Tian. “This grim reaper really said that?!” he asked and glared at Mu Jun. “So you really want to kill all that’s related to your friend (Mu Xie). What? You’re gonna kill yourself after you killed Xin?!” he asked and scoffed.
Their eyes went wide. Fei Huang’s eyes narrowed as he looked at Mu Jun.
“So it’s true, then.” Chen Shen added, frowning.
“Ah Shen.” Chen Han called his younger brother. “Stop now. It’s their affair ” he told Chen Shen and was about to grab his younger brother’s arm when Chen Shen whisked away his arm.
“You say that now after this guy touched your beloved younger brother?!” Chen Shen asked and pointed Mu Xin.
Mu Xin’s face went red. Mu Jun’s face is blank. Chen Han’s face went pale, then turned red a second after because of anger.
“You – !” Chen Han said as he glared at Mu Xin. “I knew it… you really touched Ah Shen…” he said, gritting his teeth as he marched towards Mu Xin.
Mu Xin’s eyes went wide as he stepped back, but it’s already a wall behind him.
“You – !” Chen Han said and pointed Mu Xin, glaring daggers at him. “You coward! Take responsibility for Ah Shen!” he told him, then added. “You’re going to marry my younger brother tomorrow!” he said and grabbed Chen Shen. “Let’s go!” he said, then also pulled the shocked Li Tian who’s standing not far from them. “Let’s go home.” He told him.
They all watched as Chen Han left, dragging with him his younger brother and wife.
“Clever.” Was all they could say to Chen Shen.
Chen Shen used the Chen family’s overprotectiveness to protect Mu Xin from Mu Jun. Also, Chen Shen had long wanted to tie Mu Xin with him.
He hit two birds with one stone. The Chen family’s power will be stronger because the leader of the Demonic Sect will be wed in their family.
Ah. Now it’s three birds in one stone,
