The Daily Life Of The Scum - Chapter 79 Day 78
“You’re afraid I might kill myself?” Chen Sheng asked as Fei Yin followed him.
Dark lines covered Fei Yin’s (and author’s) face. Just the first word (opening of this chap) and this is what he’s (Chen Sheng) going to say? He (and author) thought. (same sentiments, FY, same. -_-”’)
He looked at Chen Sheng. They’ve been walking around the Upright Capital but this is the first time Chen Sheng spoke to him since earlier.
“Yes.” Fei Yin answered.
Chen Sheng shrugged and looked at the jars of wine the vendor is selling. “How much?” he asked the vendor.
The vendor raised his hand. Clearly, he’s mute.
Chen Sheng smiled. “I’ll buy all of the wines. Would it be fine?” he asked.
The vendor’s face lit up and he nodded.
Chen Sheng smiled as he took out ten gold bars. “Here.” He told him and gave him his pouch filled with different types of talismans. “Take care.” He smiled and bowed to the vendor after he put the jars of wine inside his other dimensional pocket, bigger than he usually carries.
The vendor waved at them happily and immediately closed his stall.
Fei Yin stared at him.
Chen Sheng sighed as he took out a jar of wine from his dimensional pocket. “The talismans I gave to the vendor will help to cure his disability.” He told him and opened the jar.
Fei Yin thought Chen Sheng would drink it. But, Chen Sheng waved his finger on the jar’s mouth in a rounded manner.
The smell of wine disappeared.
“Your turned it to water?” Fei Yin asked Chen Sheng.
But, Chen Sheng didn’t answer and stopped in front of a child with his siblings. He smiled at them as he gave them the jar of wine which he turned to water.
He fished out some talismans on his pouch and put them on the children’s head. “You’ll be fine in a day.” He told them as the talismans disappeared. “Here.” He said and gave them a bag of bread which he took out from his pocket. “Share it with others, especially to your grandma.” He told them.
The children nodded. “Thank you!” they said and ran away, then went inside one of the houses.
“Their grandma?” Fei Yin asked.
Chen Sheng quietly turned and walked away. “The old woman looking after them, orphaned children.” he answered. “She died.” He told him.
Fei Yin didn’t answer. Chen Sheng smiled, knows that Fei Yin thought of him as an orphan.
He stopped and looked at him. “I’ll tell you this now, since you’ve misunderstood something.” He told him. “The queen may had given birth to me, but I’m not her son.” He said. “Nor she’s my mother.” He added.
“What do you mean?” Fei Yin asked, his forehead knotted.
Chen Sheng stared at him for a long time, then took a deep breath. “How to say this…” he muttered, then blew out air. “My body is my physical form. My soul is the people’s thoughts.” He told him.
The knot on Fei Yin’s forehead deepened. “I don’t get it.” he said, puzzled.
Chen Sheng grimaced and continued to walk. “Do you know the reason why I don’t call the king and queen ‘father and ‘mother’?” he asked.
“That’s because you deeply respect them?” Fei Yin asked.
Chen Sheng smiled. “Right, and wrong.” He answered. “I deeply respect them, but they’re not my real mother and father.” He said and stopped.
Fei Yin also stopped and looked at him. “What do you mean?” he asked.
Chen Sheng slowly turned to him, then sun in the sky bathing him in its light, making him look like he’s glowing.
Well, he’s literally glowing. The sunlight is surrounding him and some are passing through his body. He looked transparent.
He… looked like a ghost.
“Sheng…?” Fei Yin called.
“I am not the prince of BaiLong Continent.” Chen Sheng said.
Fei Yin’s eyes went wide. “What…?” he said.
Chen Sheng smiled. “I’m just something living inside the prince.” He said. “Like what I did to Yu Sheng.” He told him.
Fei Yin’s mouth fell open. He wanted to speak, but what should he say?
Chen Sheng continued. “I have always been in the BaiLong.” He said. “But, also not there.” He looked at Fei Yin. “I am but a thought.” He said. “The BaiLong’s will.” He told him, then looked at Fei Yin’s wide-eyed staring at him. “I am but never a living being.” He told him. “I may be the prince, but not really the prince of the BaiLong.” He said. “Since I just possessed his body.” He explained.
“Then… you…” Fei Yin said, dumbfounded. “What are you?” he asked.
“… the Lord of the BaiLong.” Chen Sheng answered.
A lightning struck Fei Yin.
Chen Sheng sighed and looked away. “I’ve never descended, since the BaiLong had always been peaceful.” He said. “But, now…” his forehead knotted. “For some reason ” he said and turned to Fei Yin. “They rebelled.” He said, referring to the people of BaiLong. “Somebody is causing trouble in my land. I don’t know their reason, but they must be stopped.” He said, his face serious.
“Then… then how about the prince?” Fei Yin asked. “And your attendants…” he added, referring to Yu Sheng and the others.
“… I already told them about this when we left after the fight against Mu Xie.” Chen Sheng said. “The prince… is but empty.” He said and sighed, remembered how the queen became devastated when they escaped from BaiLong.
Lightning struck Fei Yin again as he realized. The prince… he is dead when he was born. He thought.
Due to the rebellion, the queen, escaping with the king along with Mu Jun and Yu Sheng’s parents, she must have had a miscarriage.
But Fei Yin thought as he looked at Chen Sheng. “… you…” he said, didn’t continue. He now understood everything.
Chen Sheng, got nothing to possess since he has no physical form, entered the dead prince’s body.
“They believe I’m the prince.” Chen Sheng told Fei Yin and continued to walk.
“But, you’re… you’re higher than the prince’s position.” Fei Yin said, following behind him.
“That may be so.” Chen Sheng said and stopped. “But, it’s the thought that counts. Since I’m but a thought. A will…” he said and looked at the people below. “As long as they hold me in regard…” he muttered, watching the people below. “I don’t care what title do I have.” He said and smiled.
The people are celebrating the wedding of Fei Lin and Xi Ling.
“Have you seen Yin-er?” Fei Lin asked and looked around, looking for his brother.
“He’s with Chen Sheng earlier…”
Fei Yin’s face went serious when he saw Fei Lin laughed.
“Sheng.” He called, doesn’t mind if the Sheng before him is a god or a prince.
He’s still the Sheng he knows.
“What?” Chen Sheng answered.
“I have something to tell you, too.” He told him and looked at him.
“Speak.” Chen Sheng said, closing his eyes as he’s feeling the energy around. He’s feeding himself of the excessive energy around him.
Fei Yin already noticed that earlier from the mute vendor up to the children. The positive emotions of the people are making up Chen Sheng’s power.
“I’m actually not Fei Yin.” he told him. “I’m from another world.” He said. “My name is still ‘Yin’, but… that’s not my real name.” he said and looked at him.
“Then, what is your real name?” Chen Sheng asked and looked at him.
“Jiang Yin.” he answered.
“Then, Jiang Yin ” Chen Sheng said and smiled at him. ” what are you here for?” he asked.
He looked at him in the eye. “I’m here ” he said and took a deep breath as he stared at his face. ” to be with my long-lost lover.” He answered.
“Then… who is your lover?” Chen Sheng asked.
Tears formed in his eyes as he answered. “You.” He answered.
Chen Sheng stared at him, then smiled. “Then ” he said as he turned to him. ” your love is doomed to fail.” He told him. “I’m sorry, Yin…” he said as tears fell from his eyes. “… but… this is what I am ” he said and closed his eyes as he lowered his head.
Fei Yin’s eyes went wide when Chen Sheng’s body became transparent until a brightly glowing and floating ball was left.
“Sheng…?” he called as he carefully touched the ball. It felt hot but not too much to burn his skin.
He held it in his hands.
“… I’m just but this.” It’s Chen Sheng’s voice. “I have no name… no form aside from this.” he told him. “I’m…”
Fei Yin cut him off. “You’re alive.” He said, his tears falling. “You’re alive… you’re alive to me… to everybody…” he said and sobbed as he fell on his knees. “You’re alive for me, Sheng.” He said and hugged the ball.
It felt so warm, like he’s embracing him.
“Yin…” Chen Sheng said. The ball flew out of his hands and floated in the air. “I’m glad you don’t believe every word I say.” He said as the ball flew towards his face and landed on his lips.
Fei Yin’s eyes went wide when the ball glowed brighter. He closed his eyes.
“Open your eyes.” He told him.
Fei Yin slowly opened his eyes. His eyes went wide when he saw a beautiful and brightly smiling face. “Sheng…?” he called, wide eyed.
Chen Sheng chuckled as he closed his eyes and kissed him again.
Fei Yin closed his eyes, feeling Chen Sheng’s lips. This is him… he thought. This is really him… he thought as the familiar warmth and soft lips he’d been longing from the past worlds now he tasted in this world Sheng’s world.
Not a second later and the ground shook.
“Wha ” they said as they held what’s near them to keep themselves from falling.
“What’s happening?” Fei Huang asked.
“An earthquake?” Zu Zhe said. Yu Sheng’s holding him tight as his sword lifted them above ground.
The other cultivators followed suit.
“Be careful ” Xie Lan told Fang Wen when Fang Wen almost tripped.
“Thanks ”
“Tian ” Chen Han called Li Tian and carried him in his arms.
“Ling!” Fei Lin called as he carried his wife out of the hall using his sword.
“What is happening?” Chen Shen asked as he and his mother carried Mu Xin by his collar. They flew off ground and went to the sky, looking the situation on the ground.
“I don’t know.” Chen Qing answered.
“Where’s father?” Chen Shen asked when he didn’t see his father.
“Don’t mind him. He’s with your uncle. Catch him ” Chen Qing told Chen Shen as he threw all of Mu Xin’s weight to Chen Shen.
“Be careful, mom.” Chen Shen told Chen Qing when she flew down the ground to save the people.
“This is…” Feng Mo and Wu Bai said as they flew on Feng Mo’s sword.
“What? What is it?” Lei Ling asked. Wen Yan’s riding with him.
But, Wu Bai and Feng Mo didn’t answer. They looked at each other, remembered what Chen Sheng told them that time when he woke up.
“Aaaaahhh!!! Kidnappers!” Chen Sheng screamed and jumped to the corner of the bed.
They’re in the cave of the YuLing Village where Yu Sheng retrieved his memories.
Dark lines covered everyone’s faces, including Zu Zhe. This guy… he thought, his face dark.
“Nice. Yes. That’s a nice reaction from you. Mm.” Chen Sheng said, his hand on his chin as he smiled at them.
They all blinked, looking at him blankly.
“Huh?” Yu Sheng said, dumbfounded as he looked at Chen Sheng. “Your… Highness…?” he called, puzzled.
The air of a noble on Chen Sheng is gone.
Chen Sheng turned to him. “Oh.” He said. “Right. You think I’m the prince. Hmm…” he said, thinking.
“Ah?” Zu Zhe said, as dumbfounded as Yu Sheng.
Chen Sheng turned to him. His eyes narrowed, suddenly vigilant.
Huh? Zu Zhe thought. What’s with him?
“Y Your Highness…” Yu Sheng called, still shocked. “W what’s wrong?” he asked.
Chen Sheng blinked and his eyes became a line as he smiled at Yu Sheng. “Right.” He said, then turned to Feng Mo and Wu Bai who are standing behind.
The two immediately knelt and respectfully bowed. “Master.” They said.
Yu Sheng and Zu Zhe turned to them, still puzzled by what’s happening.
“Right. I’ve been thinking about this but… why are you two calling His Highness ‘master’?” Yu Sheng asked his forehead knotted.
But, Feng Mo and Wu Bai didn’t answer. Zu Zhe looked at the two, then Yu Sheng, then the smiling Chen Sheng.
Could it be…? He thought, his eyes narrowed. “Yu Sheng.” He called.
As expected, Chen Sheng and the other two didn’t mind them.
“What?” Yu Sheng asked.
“… hidden plot.” He told him.
“… ah?” Yu Sheng said, then looked at Chen Sheng. “Your Highn- ngh!” he cried when Zu Zhe hit his head.
“I already said ‘hidden plot’.” Zu Zhe said, a vein popping on his head as he frowned at Yu Sheng. “That means, that’s not the prince!” he said and looked at Chen Sheng.
“You’re sharp.” Chen Sheng finally said. “I knew it. I should be wary of you.” He said and looked at Zu Zhe.
Yu Sheng, who still doesn’t follow everybody’s actions, looked at Zu Zhe. He’s rubbing his head.
“What do you mean…?” he asked, his forehead knotted. “He’s His Highne ugh!” he cried when Zu Zhe, finally pissed because of his lover’s surprising dumbness, punched him.
Feng Mo and Wu Bai, looking at the comedic couple (Yu Sheng and Zu Zhe), are shocked. But, they wouldn’t dare be the straight man (the one who does witty retorts) for the two since they’re in the presence of their master.
They could only sigh to Yu Sheng’s surprisingly low-leveled brain.
Zu Zhe took a deep breath as he calmed himself. He turned to Chen Sheng, his face blank. “You transmigrated.” He told him. “But, surprisingly, you’re from here.” He said.
Chen Sheng smiled, knows what ‘transmigrated’ means since he’s been to different worlds. “And you’re the one who made me transmigrate to other worlds.” he said.
Zu Zhe frowned as he stared at Chen Sheng, who’s also staring at him back.
“Zhe.” Yu Sheng called, sitting up. His nose is bleeding because of Zu Zhe’s punch. “I’ve never understood your words that’s clearly from your world. But ” he said and looked at Chen Sheng. ” His Highness, too – ?! Ugh – !” he cried when Zu Zhe threw one of his boots to Yu Sheng.
It hit the center of Yu Sheng’s forehead.
“Then don’t speak.” Zu Zhe said, pissed. He broke a sweat as he looked at Chen Sheng. He grimaced, slightly pale.
He’s just putting a front to Chen Sheng.
Chen Sheng smiled and broke the silence between them. “I’ll tell you.” He said as he opened his eyes and looked at Zu Zhe. “I’m not the prince Prince Hou Sheng.” He started. “He died the moment he was born in this world.” He said.
He glanced at Yu Sheng who’s sitting on the ground. He’s silent. He must’ve noticed already earlier. He’s just making a ruckus to divert himself from this truth.
“How did the prince die?” Zu Zhe asked.
“He’s a pure BaiLong-ian.” Chen Sheng answered. “And, since he’s just about to be born, he should receive large amounts of pure qi. Unfortunately…” he said, then sighed.
Hou Sheng is born in the middle realm, where the pure qi is almost none. And if there is, the qi in the middle realm is not that pure.
“… and you?” Zu Zhe asked after a while. He looked at Chen Sheng.
Chen Sheng looked at him. His lips curved into a smile. “… I am a Lord.” He answered.
“lord’?” Zu Zhe asked. He turned when Feng Mo and Wu Bai deeply bowed to him. “Them?” he asked.
“… they’re my guards.” Chen Sheng answered. “They’re deities.” he added.
Zu Zhe looked at Chen Sheng, waiting for him to continue.
But, Chen Sheng just smiled and went down the bed. “Since I am a Lord…” he said as he walked towards Zu Zhe. “… unfortunately, dear zu zhe (author) ” he said as he stood in front of Zu Zhe.
Zu Zhe looked up to him. Chen Sheng knows he’s the author of the story.
Chen Sheng smiled. ” your sweet, little, full of justness heroic protagonist ” he said and looked into Zu Zhe’s eyes. ” is not me.” he said, his smile faded.
Zu Zhe’s face went blank.
Somewhere…
“Don’t try to be mysterious, now that’s everything’s almost exposed ” a man said as he looked up the bright, clear sky. “Well, as I’ve said, ‘almost’.” He muttered and grinned. “BaiLong, ah, BaiLong~” he muttered and grinned as he skipped and turned on the street, his wide hat covering his face is rocking on his head.
But, surprisingly, it’s not falling.
Yes. This place is BaiLong Continent. The land that’s supposed to be rich in qi… well, ‘supposed’.
The land regarded as utopia is now but once a thought. It’s reduced to a normal, daily life place like your hometown.
“My… hometown.” The man muttered and abruptly stopped. The strap of his slipper almost snapped.
He looked around. My hometown… he thought. It’s…
He turned when he heard a ‘ding!’ sound.
“Nowhere…” he muttered after he read a message on the screen floating in the air.
“Where are you?” was what he saw.
It’s both from Fei Yin and Zu Zhe.
