The Daily Life Of The Scum - Chapter 80 Day 79
ZuZhe frowned when the earthquake stopped.
“I really can’t believe it…” Yu Sheng muttered as they descend.
ZuZhe looked at him. “What are you going to do now?” he asked and looked at the other cultivators who are descending, too.
He looked at Yu Sheng when he didn’t answer. Ever since that night when Chen Sheng told them the truth, Yu Sheng never spoke a word about the matter.
Not even a slip of the tongue.
“… I’m going to BaiLong.” ZuZhe said after a while.
“Why?” Yu Sheng asked.
ZuZhe looked around the people who are still talking about the earthquake, but they’re not panicking anymore.
“… I’ve received a message.” He answered.
“… from the system?” Yu Sheng asked.
ZuZhe nodded.
“What does it say?” he asked.
ZuZhe looked at the Newfound Sect people together with the Promising Sect and Upright Sect. In short, they’re the protagonist’s friends.
Ah. He thought, then paused. He remembered what Chen Sheng told him that night.
” your sweet, little, full of justness heroic protagonist ” he said. ” is not me.”
Dark lines covered ZuZhe’s face. Damn you, Chen Sheng! He thought. Howl all you want, but this time his face went serious, his eyes determined. He balled his fists. you’ll be my protagonist! He thought and nodded.
“… Zhe…?” Yu Sheng called, noticed his lover’s weird (well, he always is) actions.
ZuZhe blinked, his thoughts interrupted. He turned to Yu Sheng and cleared his throat. “Ehem.” He said and recalled the message he sent to the system.
“Where are you?” he messaged the system. It’s been days he hasn’t heard anything from the system. The last time was the battle against Mu Xie.
He’s now asking where in the hell did the voice of the system go.
That annoying voice had always been asking me an update in what’s happening in this world. Every. Second. He thought, dark lines covered his face.
But… he thought, his shoulder fell. Did it catch a cold? He thought, then laughed. Impossible. The system is sick? He laughed.
A few hours had passed ZuZhe thought the system won’t answer and he’s planning to close the holographic computer and keyboard when a chat head popped out.
His eyes went wide when he saw what is written.
“SOS.” ZuZhe answered.
Yu Sheng’s eyes went wide. “That’s ” he said.
ZuZhe sighed and nodded. “Yes.” He said. “I was surprised, too. I never thought it ” he said, then lowered his head.
At first, he was pissed when the system brought him to this world. Now, he wants to kiss its feet for making him see how beautiful the world he had created with his own hands. Especially now that he found the one he loves.
In short, the system served as a bridge for him and this world. And now, the system is… he thought, tears forming in his eyes.
His tears are about to fall when it froze after he heard Yu Sheng spoke.
“What does ‘SOS’ means?” Yu Sheng asked, puzzled.
ZuZhe’s face went blank as his tears went back inside his tearducts. He turned to Yu Sheng, his face is as clear as the sky today.
“… just tell me if you don’t understand me.” he told him.
A second later and he laughed. Yu Sheng stared at him for a long time, wide-eyed. Then, his face broke into a smile, his face flushed.
Clearly, he remembered, too. It’s like the first time when they met.
“Brother Fei!” Li Tian called and waved when he saw the two people walking towards them. “Brother Che… n…?” he said, his forehead knotted when he saw the person standing beside Fei Yin.
Their eyes went wide, shocked, when they saw a beautiful man laughing with Fei Yin.
“Who’s that…?” Lei Ling asked, wide-eyed as his cheeks flushed when the beautiful man glanced at their direction.
“He may be beautiful ” Sun Yi said, staring at the newcomer that’s with Fei Yin. ” but Junior Brother Chen is more adorable ” he said.
That woke them all up.
“Where’s Ah Sheng?” Chen Han asked Fei Yin when the two reached their group.
Fei Lin and Xi Ling are still busy talking with the guests because of what happened.
“Yin-er.” Fang Wen called. “Where’s Sheng-er?” he asked.
Fei Yin looked at them, but didn’t answer.
“Where’s the prince?” Mu Jun asked.
Everybody’s forehead knotted as they looked at Fei Yin who’s just silent. Everybody except Feng Mo, Wu Bai, Yu Sheng and ZuZhe.
Everybody didn’t know they’re holding their breath until Fei Yin finally spoke.
“He’s right in front of you.” He told them and looked at Chen Sheng.
Their eyes went wide and, in unison, turned to the beautiful man standing beside Fei Yin.
Chen Sheng smiled. The flowers around bloomed like in spring and the warm and gentle breeze blew. The surroundings lit up and the sun hiding behind the clouds peeked to see the young man that looked like he’s favored by god.
Chen Sheng’s plump and soft cheeks are flushed because of the heat. His dark but thin brows are expressing his warm, round eyes that looked like a pair of jade stones. His thin but pouty lips are as red as blood, accentuating his milky white skin.
Everybody would’ve fell for him had they not already have someone who held their heart. Well, as if they’d replace them (the one they love) just for some beauty.
The gongs are looking at their shou, smiling brightly. Their eyes are full of fondness as they possessively wrap their arms around their shou.
It’s actually them that’re afraid their shou would fall to the beautiful Chen Sheng, seeing the admiration Li Tian, Lei Ling, Feng Mo and Sun Yi are looking at Chen Sheng.
“Ehem.” Luo Shi and Fang Wen cleared their throat, saving the face of their disciples (the gongs) because their shou are about to be taken away by Chen Sheng.
Li Tian, Lei Ling, Feng Mo and Sun Yi blinked and turned to their shifu.
“Ah.” Was what they managed to say when they saw the dark face of their lover.
“Prince Hou Sheng.” Mu Jun called, then bowed when Chen Sheng looked at him.
Yu Sheng looked at Mu Jun, then frowned. Even if his conscience will eat him, but he’ll never tell Mu Jun the truth that Hou Sheng died, so he no longer had to serve the fake Hou Sheng (Chen Sheng).
It’s Mu Jun’s fault, all of these, from the start. And Yu Sheng lost everybody his parents, the king and queen, and now the prince.
“… is this your real face?” it was Fei Huang. He voiced out everybody’s question.
Chen Sheng turned to him. “… yes.” He answered. It’s a lie. The face is the modified body’s, not his. But, he said otherwise so that they won’t suspect.
Everybody’s eyes went wide.
Chen Sheng continued. “I resided in Chen Shen’s body at first, then transferred to the modified body.” He said and looked at Chen Sheng and Mu Xin who’s descending.
“So the body you’re now in…” Luo Shi said.
Chen Sheng turned to him. “I have to be in this body so that my soul won’t leak.” He told him.
Silence fell upon them. Now clearly realized how strong Chen Sheng’s soul is.
“… the earlier… it was you?” Fei Lin, who just arrived together with Xi Ling, asked.
Chen Sheng nodded, then bowed. “Forgive me.” he said and looked at Fei Lin. “I have to change my face.” He said, then glanced at the approaching Chen Shen who’s with Mu Xin and Chen Qing.
They all grimaced. Right. They thought. When Chen Sheng used Chen Shen’s body, he’s using Chen Shen’s face. Chen Shen, at that time, is using a modified body. Though his face is somewhat different to his original face, but it’s still obviously familiar.
So Chen Sheng really have to change his face for them, though they really won’t, not to confuse the two.
“Yes, yes.” Chen Shen, who heard what they’re talking, said as they approached the group. “You really should stop using other’s body, or face.” He said and frowned.
They all grimaced. Chen Sheng just laughed. Chen Shen frowned, but now relieved.
“Sheng.” Fei Yin called.
“Hm?” Chen Sheng said and looked at Fei Yin.
They all looked at the two, then smiled. They can see how close and intimate the two (Fei Yin and Chen Sheng) are now.
They looked at each other and grinned. They were about to silently leave, giving the two some time, when they froze in their tracks after hearing the two’s (Chen Sheng and Fei Yin) conversation.
“Can I go to the BaiLong with you?” Fei Yin asked Chen Sheng.
Their eyes went wide, shocked.
“You can. We’re leaving in three days, anyway.” Chen Sheng answered.
Their mouth fell open, shocked.
“Mn. Thanks.” Fei Yin said. “I had to confirm something.” He said.
“What is it?” Chen Sheng asked.
“… if my friend that needs help really is there (BaiLong).” Fei Yin answered.
ZuZhe’s eye twitched as his antenna perked up while the others are frozen, shocked by what they heard.
“Friend? Who?” Chen Sheng asked.
Fei Yin laughed. “No need to be jealous.” he told Chen Sheng.
Their jaw dropped, shocked.
Fein Yin continued. “It’s an annoying voice.” He answered.
ZuZhe’s eyes narrowed as he sharply turned to Fei Yin while the others, still frozen, are looking at the two, gaping.
“Why would you go to BaiLong, anyway?” Yu Sheng asked as they walked towards the Newfound Sect who are as lively as ever
“My friend told me he’s there.” He answered.
“‘friend’?” Yu Sheng asked, frowning.
ZuZhe sighed. “The system.” He answered. “Don’t worry.” He said. “It’s just an annoying voice.” He told him.
He was about to speak when he was cut in first by someone.
“Ah. You mean the system?” Chen Sheng asked, smiling brightly.
This time, it was Fei Yin’s turn to be shocked.
“You know the system?!” he asked, shocked, looking at Chen Sheng, wide-eyed.
ZheZhe didn’t want to miss his chance again and so he immediately asked. “You transmigrated, too?!” he asked, shocked, as he looked at Fei Yin, wide-eyed.
Everybody turned and looked at the three (FY, CS and ZZ), who are looking at each other.
“… what the hell are they talking about?” they all asked, puzzled.
Yu Sheng, Feng Mo and Wu Bai just face palmed.
BaiLong Continent.
“Will they really go here…?” the man asked and sighed as he ascend the winding stairs leading to a palace.
“I’m in BaiLong.” Was what he replied to ZuZhe and Fei Yin.
The two replied with, “WHAT?!?!”, but he didn’t answer again. Why?
He lowered his head and saw the chain on his hands, feet and neck. Two heavily armed guards are walking on his sides as they escort him.
“When they reach this place… will I still be alive…?” he muttered and sighed as they finally reached the high doors at the peak of the stairs.
“Xi Tong (xi tong = system).” A voice called behind the doors. “Enter.” He said.
Xi Tong gulped. He held his breath as the doors opened. He closed his eyes when there was a blinding light.
Why the hell did I, the system, transmigrated, too? He thought, wanted to cry.
Crocodile tears really formed in the corner of his eyes when he heard a loud thud. The doors are now wide open.
“Oh, god…” he muttered, about to cry.
“… you called me?” the voice said.
Eh? He thought and raised his head, surprised. His crocodile tears froze in the corner of his eyes.
Somebody really answered his call? And it’s (a) god?
Upright Sect.
A deafening silence fell on the long table as they all looked at each other.
Fei Huang decided to break the silence. “What do you mean you’re going to BaiLong?” he asked his nephew, Fei Yin.
“… I already said I’m not your nephew.” Fei Yin said.
Silence.
“Yin-er.” It was Fei Lin. His face is serious. “Even if you tell us that, but the fact that you’re in that body, it means you’re ”
“Fei Yin in name, yes.” Fei Yin said.
Fei Lin shut up, but he’s mad. “You…” he said.
“Lin.” Xi Ling called his husband.
Fei Lin turned to him, his expression turned gentle. “I’m sorry.” he told him, then lowered his head.
He doesn’t want to ruin their wedding day, but it was already ruined anyway.
Earlier, Fei Yin told them all that, just like Chen Sheng, he’s a soul that possessed the original Fei Yin’s body. But, unlike Chen Sheng, he’s not from BaiLong.
Instead, he’s from another world.
This level of shock completely made the earlier confusion about ‘transmigration’ and ‘system’ out of everybody’s mind, and so they didn’t interrogate Chen Sheng and ZuZhe.
“It is I who should apologize.” It was Chen Sheng. “I’m the cause of these all… and the earlier earthquake.” He added, his voice low.
ZuZhe grimaced. Clearly, only he and Fei Yin knows what ‘earthquake’ means. That’s why, nobody questioned him about the earthquake.
He continued when nobody spoke. “I am the root of the chaos that befell on this land.” He started. “If I wasn’t born, then Yu Sheng shouldn’t have gotten here, him brought by his parents and the king and queen…” he said and looked at Yu Sheng.
Yu Sheng didn’t speak and just lowered his head, his face dark.
“If I didn’t come out of Yu Sheng’s body, then I shouldn’t have caused Chen Shen suffering and occupied his body.” Chen Sheng said and looked at Chen Shen.
“Hmph.” Chen Shen said, frowning. But, his eyes are filled with sadness.
Chen Sheng continued. “If I didn’t roam around the sect every night wantonly, drinking liquors, then Li Shan wouldn’t have found me and plotted the destruction of the Newfound Sect and Newfound Land.” He said and glanced at Li Tian.
Li Tian bit his lip and lowered his head. Chen Han hugged him, rubbing his back as he consoled him.
Chen Sheng smiled, apologetic, to Li Tian, and then looked at Xi Ling. “If I wasn’t targeted by Li Shan, then I wouldn’t have troubled the Upright Sect, and also endangered them.” He said and glanced at Fei Huang.
Xi Ling’s face fell and he pressed his lips tight, don’t know what to say. Fei Huang’s face is blank, but he’s thinking.
“If I didn’t go to the YuLing, Li Shan’s identity wouldn’t be exposed. I caused the Demonic Sect to fell apart.” Chen Sheng said and looked at Mu Xin.
Mu Xin didn’t answer and just remained silent.
Xie Lan broke the still silence with just one sentence that shook them all. “Is this your way of saying ‘goodbye’ to us?” he asked, his face and voice void of emotion.
Everybody’s eyes went wide, shocked. But, they didn’t dare speak. Their heart that’s already anxious was broken by one simple word and yet an answer to everybody’s fear.
“Yes.” Chen Sheng answered.
Their heart sank. A long silence fell on them.
“Grandmaster Fei. Elder Xi.” Chen Sheng called Fei Lin and Xi Ling as he stood up. “I deeply apologize if I ruined your wedding day.” He told them and bowed deeply. “I’ll repay this trouble I caused.” He said, then turned to them all. “Everyone.” He called. “I’ll definitely repay you all for all the troubles I caused you ” he said and was about to bow when Fang Wen spoke.
“Sheng-er.” He called.
“… yes?” Chen Sheng said.
“We don’t need you to repay us.” he said.
Chen Sheng raised his head and looked at his ‘mother’. “Then what should I do?” he asked.
Fang Wen smiled as he stared at his ‘child’s face. “Promise us.” he answered.
Chen Sheng’s eyes went wide as he looked at them all. They’re all smiling brightly at him, their eyes misty.
“Then ” he said and smiled as he stood straight. ” tell me what words should I keep in my heart and soul?” he asked.
“… that you’ll return to us.”
ZuZhe raised his cup and sipped his tea. He’s not in the mood to write tonight. Who would when you’re surrounding by weeping faces? He thought as he looked at everybody that’s crying.
His eyes fell on the man in the center.
Chen Sheng… he thought, remembered how he said he’s the cause of this all.
How can he not… when he’s the protagonist of this story?ZuZhe thought. He sighed as he took the handkerchief Yu Sheng handed him. He raised his hand and covered his face with the fabric.
The system should’ve adjusted his psychological (emotional) functions, too. He just sighed and sniffed when he felt his chest hurt because it’s heavy. He choked back a sob.
I’ll complain to it (system) when he sees it (system).
