The Daily Life Of The Scum - Chapter 81 Day 80
“You’ve already done your job.” Chen Sheng told Mu Jun when Mu Jun said he’s going with them. “It’s time for me to do mine.” He said and bowed to Mu Jun, grateful for everything the man did (except the troubles).
“But ” Mu Jun said.
“Don’t forget you’re still a prisoner of the Upright Sect (me).” Fei Huang said as he pulled Mu Jun back to him.
Mu Jun looked at him. “… you could just come with me, you know?” he said, staring at Fei Huang.
“… I do that (come) every day with you.” Fei Huang answered.
Dark lines covered everybody’s face as they looked at the (surprisingly) airhead leader of the top sect, Upright Sect.
“… will the Upright Sect be alright…?” Chen Sheng asked, worried. He sighed when nobody answered.
They’re all in the YuLing now, where Mu Jun, together with Yu Sheng’s parents and the king and queen of BaiLong, arrived in HuiLong.
Chen Sheng is leaving, together with Fei Yin, Feng Mo, Wu Bai, Yu Sheng and ZuZhe. They’re going to cross the Endless Sea, which is beyond the cave, to reach BaiLong.
They all turned when they heard a flapping of wings. It’s none other than the beast, Xia Di.
“Xia Di!” they all exclaimed, surprised. They haven’t seen the beast since the battle against Mu Xie.
Xia Di nodded at them as he landed. “Master.” He greeted, then bowed to Chen Sheng.
Chen Sheng nodded at Xia Di, then turned to Fei Yin to talk.
Feng Mo and the others grimaced as Wu Bai patted Xia Di’s head, consoling the beast for the coldness of his master giving to him.
Yu Sheng just sighed and turned to ZuZhe, whose hands are moving in the air. ZuZhe’s writing again to update this story online.
The others looked at Chen Sheng’s group, feeling a bit weird. This group… they’re all too unbalanced. They thought, referring to the different attitudes of the people leaving.
“Brother Feng.” Li Tian whispered to Feng Mo. “What happened between Brother Chen and Xia Di?” he asked. “Why is Brother Chen so cold to Xia Di? Brother Chen didn’t even let Xia Di participate in the battle against Mu Xie.” He said, puzzled.
“That’s because the author forgotten the beast, even the Heaven’s Touch, too.” Feng Mo answered.
“Oh. That’s right. That’s right. I also haven’t seen it since… when was it?” Li Tian muttered, his forehead knotted as he put a finger to his forehead, thinking when did the blanket last appeared.
“… the Spring of Retribution is its last appearance.” The others answered, their face covered in dark lines.
“Ah!” Li Tian exclaimed. “And so, the author must’ve forgotten it, too?” he asked and looked at Feng Mo.
Feng Mo just nodded and looked away. (okay. Let’s go back to serious business now. xD) “… master (Chen Sheng) was offended by Xia Di.” He answered.
Their eyes went wide. “EH?! How?!” they asked, shocked.
For a contracted beast to offend its master… it’s a crime. They thought as they looked at the poor beast.
“What did Xia Di do, Brother Feng?” Lei Ling asked, worried, as he looked at the beast petted by Wu Bai.
Feng Mo turned to him. “We lied.” He answered.
“… ‘we’?” they asked, puzzled.
But, Feng Mo didn’t answer. It must be BaiLong business again. They thought. They all looked at Chen Sheng when he walked towards them.
“Brother Li. Senior Brother Sun. Senior Brother Wu. And ” he said and turned to Chen Han. “… brother.” He said and smiled, a shy smile.
Chen Han’s eyes went wide and sparkled. “Mn.” He said and smiled, hiding his delight.
“… your spirit sword…” Chen Sheng said and looked at the scabbard dangling on their waist.
“Oh.” They said and looked at their broken sword.
They were damaged from their fight against Li Shan.
“As a token of gratitude ” Chen Sheng said and waved his hand.
Their eyes went wide, shocked, as their sword flew out of their scabbard and floated in mid-air. Even Fei Yin’s.
“Junior Brother Chen…” Sun Yi called, surprised, as he looks at Chen Sheng.
Chen Sheng just nodded as he raised both his hands.
“Sheng-er…” Fang Wen muttered under his breath as they watched the five swords were covered in light.
It was qi, the one embedded on the swords. The owner’s qi, or the content of their soul, is the source of the sword’s power.
They looked at Chen Sheng as he fixed the swords. They remembered what happened yesterday, during the after-wedding banquet of Fei Lin and Xi Ling.
“But…” Lei Ling said and wiped his tears. “Why would Senior Brother Chen leave so soon?” he asked and sniffed.
They finally calmed down.
Chen Sheng turned to him. “Junior Brother Lei…” he called.
Lei Ling’s eyes went wide as his face lit up. “Senior Brother Chen finally called me that…” he said and smiled as he lowered his head.
Chen Sheng smiled. “I’m really sorry.” he said. “But, I have to leave as soon as possible.” He told them.
“… because of the rebellion in BaiLong?” Luo Shi asked.
Chen Sheng nodded. “Yes.” He answered. “I have to quell the people’s anger.” He explained.
A long silence fell. They all looked at Fei Yin who’s silently watching Chen Sheng.
Fei Yin is also leaving. Not only to help Chen Sheng with his mission, but also to save his friend. They thought and turned to ZuZhe.
This mysterious guy whose friend is also Fei Yin’s friend… they thought and turned to Feng Mo and Wu Bai.
These two who are surprisingly Chen Sheng’s, like Yu Sheng, subordinates from BaiLong… they thought.
The ones involved in BaiLong are unexpected. Life truly is a mystery.
“Done.”
Chen Sheng’s voice woke them all up. They all turned to him and their eyes went wide when they saw five brand new swords floating in the air, glowing.
Chen Han, Sun Yi, Wu Yuan, Li Tian and Fei Yin called their sword and caught it when it flew to them.
“This is…” Wu Yuan said, staring at his blue sword. He could feel the power emanating from his sword.
It’s because of the pure qi Chen Sheng poured to their sword.
Chen Sheng just smiled and bowed. He took out his sword and threw it in the air. It floated beside him.
“That’s…” Li Tian said, looking at the sword.
Chen Sheng turned to him. “Brother Li was right. My sword changed that time.” He said, referring to the time when Li Tian noticed something different in Chen Sheng’s sword after they returned from the Spring of Retribution. “You really have good eyes.” He said and smiled. “But…” he said and glanced at Chen Han.
“Hm?” Chen Han said.
“Pft ” the others said and laughed. Li Tian grimaced.
Chen Sheng chuckled and mounted on his sword, the blade shining in the sun’s light. “Well, then ” he said and looked at the ones going with him.
Fei Yin, Yu Sheng and Feng Mo mounted on their sword. Wu Bai and ZuZhe rode on Xia Di’s back.
Chen Sheng, seeing everything’s set, turned to the others. He smiled at them, then bowed. “I won’t say ‘goodbye’, since I know we will meet again.” he told them. “See you.” He said and lowered his head as he maneuvered his sword.
A second later and he vanished. They looked up the sky and saw something shining, going to the north.
“Shifu. Founder.” Feng Mo called and bowed to Fang Wen and Xie Lan. “Brother Li…” he called, his eyes misty as he looked at Li Tian.
Li Tian smiled, a tear escaped from his eye. “See you, Brother Feng.” He said and bowed. “Please look after Brother Chen.” He told him.
Feng Mo nodded, his face red holding back his tears. “… en.” He said and turned away. He went to Xia Di’s side.
Wu Bai comforted him, patting his back.
Fei Yin turned to Fei Huang and Fei Lin. He muttered, then lowered his head. “… when I come back.” he told them, then flew to the sky to follow Chen Sheng.
Fei Huang and Fei Lin sighed, then smiled.
“I’ll return as Fei Yin… when I come back.” was what Fei Yin told them.
“Ling-ling.” Yu Sheng called to Xi Ling.
“Sheng-ge…” Xi Ling called, crying.
Yu Sheng smiled as he patted Xi Ling’s head. He’s really grateful for the Xi family for raising him. “I’m relieved since Fei Lin’s here to watch over you.” He said and turned to Fei Lin. “I’ll kill you if even a hair of my brother is gone.” He told Fei Lin, then frowned.
Fei Lin just laughed. Xi Ling smiled.
“Ling-ling… Fei Lin…” Yu Sheng called, then smiled. “Congratulations on your wedding.” He told them.
He still hasn’t greeted the two because of the incident yesterday.
“Sheng-ge…” Xi Ling called.
Yu Sheng smiled. “I’ll come back.” he told him. “Since I still have a wedding to attend to ” he said and turned to ZuZhe who’s busy typing on the holographic keyboard.
He’s referring to his wedding with ZuZhe.
“Hm?” ZuZhe said and raised his head, puzzled when he saw they’re staring at him.
Yu Sheng smiled and winked to him. ZuZhe’s eyes went wide and his face went red.
Yu Sheng laughed as he turned to Xi Ling and Fei Lin. “See you.” He told them and flew towards ZuZhe.
Feng Mo, Wu Bai, Yu Sheng and ZuZhe waved at them as they all flew to the sky, following Chen Sheng and Fei Yin.
Fang Wen, Lei Ling, Li Tian and Xi Ling are crying. Chen Shen, Chen Han and Sun Yi are holding back their tears. Mu Xin, Wen Yan, Wu Yuan, Mu Jun, Fei Huang, Fei Lin, Xie Lan, Ming Ye and Luo Shi are serious.
They may not know how dangerous going back to BaiLong, now that the once utopia is in chaos. They could only hope for Chen Sheng’s and the others’ safety.
A long silence fell as they all looked at each other.
“Now, then ” Fei Huang’s the first to speak.
The heavy air because of parting earlier became heavier. Now it’s because of tension.
“What does Sect Leader Fei wanted to discuss?” Xie Lan asked, his face underneath the mask is serious.
Ming Ye and Luo Shi also looked at Fei Huang.
Fei Huang looked at them all, one by one, and his eyes fell on Xie Lan. “Junior Xie.” He called. “It’s about Chen Sheng.” He answered.
Nobody reacted, since it’s obvious that the one that should be talked about is Chen Sheng the one who’s the root of this all.
But, it’s not because of the troubles Chen Sheng caused them, that’s why they’re talking about him. Instead, it’s about Chen Sheng’s welfare.
They are worried about him. As to why…
“… how did Brother Chen knew how to ride on a sword?” it was Li Tian.
“He also talks like an old man.” Chen Shen said.
“… he became more matured.” Chen Han said.
“The air around him… it’s higher than that of a noble’s.” Sun Yi said.
Those that’s closely related to Chen Sheng now have spoken.
“Do you think…” it was Xi Ling. “… ‘Chen Sheng’… is not Chen Sheng anymore?” he asked.
Their eyes went wide, but they didn’t speak.
Xi Ling lowered his head as he remembered how Chen Sheng spoke last night during his and Fei Lin’s wedding banquet.
They all couldn’t speak and instead was drawn to him. They know that Chen Sheng is a prince, so he should have that charisma. But, he was just still young and didn’t have a chance to learn how to act like a…
They all stopped, wide-eyed, as they turned to the silent Mu Jun who’s standing behind Fei Huang, like always.
Now they realized the thing they’ve badly missed to think.
“… what?” Mu Jun asked when he saw them all looking at him.
“… I remember you said the rebellion in BaiLong happened 100 years ago?” Fei Huang asked.
“Yes.” Mu Jun answered.
“And the prince’s soul was inside Yu Sheng all this time until 15 years ago?”
“Yes.”
“Then ” it was Ming Ye. ” how did Young Chen Sheng controlled all that power, when he’s been in the dark (amnesiac) all these 15 years?” he asked, remembered Chen Sheng’s memories was retrieved just recently, and yet he fought against Mu Xie masterfully.
“Also…” Fei Lin said, his face serious.
They all held their breath, waiting for the question they long wanted to ask to be spoken.
“… why does Chen Sheng act like he knew everything?” Fei Lin asked.
A long silence fell on them as they pondered. These questions… are they supposed to be asked when the one that should answer to the questions already left?
Nobody dared speak, since they all felt like they have been played.
Fei Yin turned when he heard the flapping of wings. He turned and saw Xia Di with Wu Bai and ZuZhe on his back. Yu Sheng and Feng Mo are flying on Xia Di’s both sides.
Fei Yin turned and looked at Chen Sheng’s back.
“Brother Fei.” Feng Mo called as he flew beside Fei Yin. “Why are you just here?” he asked. “I thought you went to Brother Chen.” He said and glanced at Chen Sheng flying alone.
The clouds surrounding Chen Sheng looked like they’re hugging him, making Chen Sheng looked transparent.
Like yesterday. Fei Yin thought, remembered how Chen Sheng showed him his ‘true form’.
“I’m thinking.” He answered.
“‘thinking’?” Feng Mo asked.
“Yes.” Fei Yin said as he took a deep breath, his chest felt heavy.
“… what is Brother Fei thinking?” Feng Mo asked after a while he didn’t answer.
Fei Yin looked at Chen Sheng who’s appearing and disappearing because of the clouds. “I’m thinking…” he said, staring at Chen Sheng’s back, which makes his heart hurt. “… just how long does he intend to make us…” he said, then lowered his head.
“Brother Fei…?” Feng Mo called, puzzled by Fei Yin.
Fei Yin raised his head, his eyes misty. He looked at Feng Mo. “Tell me.” he said, his vision blurred. “How long is he (Chen Sheng) going to make us look like a fool?” he asked, his voice hurt.
A tear fell from his eyes.
The author has something to say:
If you’re super duper confused of what’s happening right now… don’t worry. Me, too. XDXDXDXDXD kidding. (but I’m really serious. XD) If the others (characters) felt like been played by Chen Sheng… that goes with me, the very author, too. T.T Chen Sheng, you meanie! >.<
