The Demon Kings Cowardly Vessel - Chapter 293
To everyone’s surprise, there was no sudden eruption, splashes… or even anything. The piece of common bread just dropped into the pool of molten rock with a soft, barely audible “thud” and disappeared immediately.
No, perhaps the better description was that the bread started to burn upon getting hit by the occasional rocks that were “jumping” in midair, as well as the falling hot ash. By the time it hit the red magma, it was smaller than a pinky finger.
“That’s odd…” Wolfe murmured, putting on a frown. “Why are there different reactions?”
“Because the bread doesn’t have any special ability or aura to it,” Juin explained as he stood up straight, took a step back from the edge of the volcano, and faced Luca and Wolfe. When Lucifer told him that there was something living in the walls of the volcano and that this thing grabbed the bead that they threw in earlier, Juin started devising a plan.
He looked at his teammates and told them about the thing that was living in the walls of the volcano. “I believe that the creature, whatever it is, selects the things that it wants to grab. Based on my experiment just now, I think that it’s going after anything that has even a slight supernatural aura in it.”
“Are you sure?” Luca asked skeptically.
Juin nodded. “We can do a few more tests if you want to be sure.”
He then put out his hand and said, “Give me a few of the weakest items.”
“Take your own!”
Juin raised a brow and said, “I believe that even my weakest item is still quite strong and will actually come in handy compare to the things you looted earlier. You are a calculative person, so I’m sure you can think this through. Do you really want me to waste any of the items that you told me to keep just now?”
Luca narrowed his eyes at him, but after a few seconds, he sighed and took out some of the weakest items that he took earlier. These items were all flashy, but in terms of application, they were pretty useless. He took them for their monetary value and nothing else.
“Alright, time to test,” Juin said, prying the three items off from Luca’s hands, completely ignoring the look of pain in the guy’s eyes or the curses that he was mumbling. As he looked at the items that were made of gold and silver, he said, “This time, I will drop them from the middle of the volcano. I need to make sure of something.”
“What? Are you crazy?” Wolfe snapped, putting a hand on Juin’s shoulder. “That’s too dangerous!”
Juin smiled and placed a hand on Wolfe’s shoulder as he said, “Wolfe, the lava couldn’t hurt me. Unlike the effect on you guys, I barely felt the heat earlier. But don’t worry, I’m not going to risk my life like an idiot. I will be in my Enhanced Flame Shield. Anyway, when I drop the items in, you guys must step aside quickly. Since I’m going to drop all these at the same time, it’s best if you keep your soul shields up right at the beginning. We don’t know how bad the ‘attack’ would be.”
Without waiting for their reply, he then quickly set up a spell diagram in his Soul Dimension, which then appeared on the bottom of his feet in less than a few seconds. With a nod, he then flew up in midair, taking a quick look at the surroundings of the volcano for the first time. It seemed that other than this volcano, this place was pretty deserted.
“What’s that…” he thought, when he saw a small island in a distance. It looked completely different from this volcanic island that had nothing but charred rocks and a sulfuric smell. That small island in a distance seemed to be covered in purple-like things, making it quite pretty to look at.
But he quickly pushed that out of his thought and focused on the matter at hand. Taking a deep breath, he then flew to the middle of the opening of the volcano, placing himself precariously in the path of eruption.
And when he was ready, he signaled the boys to activate the soul shields.
Closing his eyes, Juin gulped and took a deep breath. When he opened his eyes, everyone was in their respective shields, and this time, Luca covered Wolfe, who already had his soul shield on, with his own stronger wind shield as well.
No one knew how bad the eruption would be, but they were not chancing it.
Once everyone was fully ready, Juin dropped all 3 items into the molten rocks.
As before, when the three items were about to reach the pool of lava, walls of lava shot up at almost the speed of light. However, this time, Juin’s eyes were focused on the rocky walls inside of the volcano instead of the items he dropped.
And he saw it.
“We must have missed it because of the camo…” Juin thought. His eyes widened when he saw that at the moment the walls of lava shot up, three hands shot out from the spell diagrams and grabbed the three items a second before they reached the pool of molten lava. Everything happened so fast.
In fact, those hands were moving so fast that he saw two of them as mere shadows. But one thing for sure, those things looked nothing like human hands… The one that he focused on, it looked like it was made out of vines.
If he had not heard about it from Lucifer, he would have thought his eyes were playing pranks on him.
Once the items were pulled into the spell diagrams, they disappeared immediately, and Juin quickly looked around him. He was surrounded by the walls of lava, which showed signs of falling down now.
Hot ashes, burning rocks, and blankets of magma fell over, hitting everyone’s shield with heavy force and nearly toppled Luca and Wolfe who were standing on the top of the volcano.
