The Demon Kings Cowardly Vessel - Chapter 301
“You two…” Eranos floated over to Juin and Luca.
Luca immediately got on a defensive pose as he looked at the guy who landed in front of them. “If he attacks, you’re on your own…” he muttered.
“Just take care of Wolfe…”
Eranos looked at them, then at Wolfe, before saying with a serious expression, “You guys made me remember an unpleasant memory…”
Still lying on his stomach, Juin tried to grin as he said, “We’re… sorry?”
“Don’t be…” Eranos said, suddenly breaking into a light smile. “I also remembered some fond memories as well. In my attempt to forget everything, not only did I forget the bad ones, but I also forgot about all the fun times I had with my friends and family. So…”
He put his right hand out, palm up. A small green tree-like diagram flashed on his palm before a few black vines shot out, getting thicker and thicker as they headed for Juin.
Juin immediately closed his eyes, having no more energy to move. To his surprise, instead of being attacked, the vines helped him up and formed a chair beneath him before putting him on the chair.
Eranos also created another one next to Juin’s chair and signaled Luca to sit as well. Once both boys were seated, he created another similar chair for himself. The only difference was that his chair was bigger and made of golden vines and was bigger.
“So, why are you kids here?” Eranos asked.
‘Kids…’ Luca’s eyebrow twitched as he thought, ‘You don’t look that much older than us…’
As if he knew what he was thinking, Eranos then said, “I might look like this, but this is just one of my forms. We, the Leaf Giant, can change our appearances at will. You have seen one of my true forms earlier; this is just my human form.”
“One of your true forms?” Juin asked out of curiosity.
“My real form is much better looking than what you saw earlier.”
“The Leaf Giants have many forms,” Lucifer, who was floating beside Juin said.
“Your friend is right,” Eranos said, nodding at Lucifer. “We Leaf Giants have many forms. Our true giant state depends on our mental states. When our mental state is disturbed, it changes our physical giant form as well.”
“His… friend?” Luca looked at Juin, but of course, he couldn’t see Lucifer at all.
Juin pretended not to know anything. He then asked, “So it’s true? Your world has been destroyed.”
Eranos sighed and nodded slightly.
“Why don’t you leave?” Juin then asked. “You are capable of opening up a portal to another world.”
“Because then, this beautiful world would have collapsed,” Eranos said as he looked past Juin and Luca’s head.
Yet when the boys looked back, all they could see was a white environment.
“What beautiful world?” Luca murmured. “There’s nothing here…”
“What the…” Both the boys gasped, for the oasis that they thought was an illusion was moving. And it changed into dense forests, swamps, various animals running about…
Suddenly, both of them felt warmth and looked up, nearly blinded by the sun that was peeking out from the light blue clouds.
“Wait…” They exchanged glances and looked back.
The world behind them had completely changed, as if they had been thrown into a completely different universe, one that was thriving with lives. Animals of all kinds, both familiar and unfamiliar, were playing around.
“Roar!!!” A lion’s roar could be heard coming from a distance.
“Chirp! Chirp!”
They saw a flock of bird flew past their heads and towards the lush forests that seemed to be getting thicker and thicker.
“Eranos…” Juin turned back and saw that even the scenes in front of him had changed. In addition to the lush forests behind him, Eranos’ chair seemed to have been lifted off the ground by the huge oak tree with the greenest leaves behind him.
When a gust of wind moved in their way, the branches that pointed everywhere at first suddenly turned and formed a form of protection around Eranos until the gust of wind disappeared.
Because of the wind, Juin’s hair was in a mess, but Luca and Eranos’ remained unmoved.
When the branches backed away from Eranos, they formed a canopy above him, truly making him look like the King of the Leaf Giants.
Juin looked in awe.
“The wind is singing…” Luca murmured as he looked up. “The King has returned, long live the king…”
Eranos looked at him. “Elementalist?”
Luca nodded. “Wind.”
The King of Leaf Giants smiled. “You can understand the winds of this world despite being a foreigner… You must be loved by the winds.”
Luca did not say anything but merely nodded in respect.
The King of Leaf Giants then looked at Juin and said, “If I leave here, every living being here will die…”
“Is it because your life has been linked to this world?” Juin asked. “Are we even in Kraesos?”
“We are…” Eranos said with a sad tone, “Yet we are not.”
‘Is this a Yoda speech event?’ Juin thought to himself as his eyes twitched slightly. He then sighed and asked again, “Your Majesty, are we actually in your Soul Dimension?”
Eranos thought about it for a while. “You can say so. While training, due to not having the right guidance, I… hurt my Soul Dimension, creating a hole that allows my soul power to leave. As my mind was broken and I wasn’t paying attention, my soul power eventually bled into this world.”
“Is that even possible?” Juin asked.
This time, it was Luca who answered. “Extremely rare, to the point of almost unheard of. In training, we are taught that one’s Soul Dimension is relative to one’s strength, and that Soul Dimension is strengthened by the user’s soul power. The stronger the user becomes, the bigger the Soul Dimension. But that’s not always the case.”
Juin nodded as he listened on intently. He knew all the basic stuff, but that was probably just the tip of the iceberg.
Luca put on a thoughtful expression as he tried to recall what he had learned about Soul Dimension. After a while, he continued, “Some people are born with bigger Soul Dimensions. My teacher said that these people were blessed by the world. But they don’t have enough soul power, talent, or resources to use their Soul Dimensions appropriately.
“For someone who has a Soul Dimension, not having the right talent or strength will eventually cause the Soul Dimension to, in another word, shrink, like an unused muscle.
“Then there are also people who are born with small Soul Dimension but whose talent and strength way surpassed what they could keep in their Soul Dimensions. In this case, these people have to go through special training to build their Soul Dimension while building their soul power… Or they have to completely stop training until they can find a way to build their Soul DImension.
“If somehow the training went wrong, the user’s Soul Dimension could be damaged, and his or her soul power could leak out. Imagine the Soul Dimension as a sand-filled balloon that had a small prick in it. The sand would fall out a grain at a time, until the balloon is completely emptied and deflated.”
