The Demon Kings Cowardly Vessel - Chapter 302
Juin nodded as he tried to absorb everything. After a while, he asked curiously, “What about Eranos’ Soul Dimension then?”
Given how the guy was so powerful, he found it hard to believe that his Soul Dimension was actually damaged, or deflated. If that was his strength when his Soul Dimension was “deflated”, that meant that this guy’s power could perhaps even surpassed President Presley!
That would make him a terrifying opponent!
“Eranos didn’t stop training…” Luca looked at Eranos, “Right?”
Eranos nodded. “Because I have never stopped training, my Soul Dimension is still somewhat full, in a sense. And because of that, as I got stronger, more and more of my soul power leaked out, and my Soul Dimension remains the same size…”
A hawk-like bird with red feathers flew over, and Eranos patted his t.h.i.g.h, upon which the bird landed and perched on his t.h.i.g.h. As he gently rubbed the bird’s head, he said, “But my mind was damaged, and as a result, my soul, as well as my soul power, were damaged as well.”
“Huh?”
“Everything is related, even if it doesn’t seem like so,” Lucifer said. He folded his arms and added, “In his subconscious, Eranos wanted things to end, and it was so strong, it permeated into his soul power, and when his soul power leaked out…”
“It affected the world as well…?” Juin added.
Eranos smiled sadly. “You don’t know how powerful one’s mind can be. The strongest mind can even cross time and space, which is why there are people who can remember their past lives… In my case, I wanted to stop the loneliness. I wanted everything to end, including my own life… But I can’t bear to do it myself.”
Looking at the hawk-like bird that was pushing its head against his fingers, he said, “My people sacrificed their lives to give me this power, this longevity. If I kill myself, it is equivalent to killing hundreds and thousands of people as well as their hope. How can I do it…”
At the moment, Juin felt bad for the guy. Destined to be alone, couldn’t truly live yet couldn’t die… What kind of existence was that?
“So you are now with the world… Literally.” Luca looked at Eranos and asked, “How big of a portal can you make? And can you create a portal to a different dimension?”
He was hoping that Eranos could send them back to Earth. This way, they would not have to complete the bargain with Crown Prince Warrick. It was unethical, but that guy was using their circ.u.mstances against them, so he did not feel too bad that he had such thoughts.
Swoosh!
Everyone watched as the bird flew higher and further, until it disappeared from their sight. After the bird flew off, Eranos said, “We Leaf Giants have a spell that we could use to transcend dimensions, but we are not able to cross the dimensions ourselves.”
“Can you send us to a specific dimension?” Juin asked.
“Unfortunately, no. We have no control over what dimensions we can open up. The moment we learned the spell, the dimensions that we could open would have been fixed to that. For me, the dimension that I can go to is where I brought you guys from. And that’s where I can send you to as well, should you wish to leave.”
“That’s…” Juin mumbled, and he quickly stopped himself before he blurted out the rest of the sentence. Useless. That was what he wanted to say. A power to open up a pathway to another dimension, yet he could not cross over the dimension nor could he choose which dimension to travel to.
“The rules governing the worlds don’t make sense sometimes,” Lucifer said. “But everything is there for a reason.”
Juin gave him a quick glance before looking at Eranos. “I guess the reason why you could not cross through is because of your size?”
“We Leaf Giants are gentle creatures and would never harm others. But we are huge, and before our younglings learn how to transform at will, they can easily cause damage to others.”
Juin thought about it for a while before asking Luca, “Do we not have Leaf Giants on Earth?”
“We have giants, but not as big as them. Perhaps there were indeed giants who were as big as the Leaf Giants thousands of years ago, but the giants on Earth now have mostly human blood in them, thus their DNA would have been different. If anything, their problem would be on how to take on their giant form,” Luca explained.
“Human blood seems to have the ability to weaken supernatural creatures,” Juin muttered.
“Perhaps, but it also helps them to assimilate into the society easily,” Luca said. He then sighed and looked at Eranos. “King Eranos, can we ask you something?”
“Go ahead,” Eranos said.
“Have you heard of an item called Soul Transference Ring?”
Juin glanced at Luca briefly. That was the item that Warrick wanted them to bring back. He then looked at Eranos and waited for his reply. To their surprise, the guy did not seem to know what Luca was talking about.
“A ring?” Eranos frowned as he tried to think of it. “I don’t know if we have such a thing.”
“It was thrown into the volcano a long time ago…” Juin said. He blinked twice before asking, “By the way, why do you take all those treasures that were thrown into the volcano?”
“I was bored,” Eranos said blankly. “And those treasures were fun to play with…”
“Fun… to play with?” Juin sighed. He wondered what those Atlanteans would think if they knew that the things that were treasures to them were mere toys to this giant. “Do you have anything that resembles a ring?”
Eranos thought for a while. He c.o.c.ked his head from one side to the other, and after a while, he gave up. “Why don’t you guys look at it yourself?” he said.
Snap!
Eranos snapped his fingers, and a bright light appeared on his stomach. Hundreds of shiny items that exuded powerful auras fell out of this “stomach”, which was apparently where he kept his Dimensional Pouch.
“That’s everything I got from that dimension,” Eranos said.
“Woah…” Both boys’ eyes gleamed at the sight of the treasures.
Juin glanced over at Luca, and surely enough, Luca’s eyes told him that he was plotting to take as many items away with them as possible.
“Main thing first…” Juin said with a sigh. They quickly looked through the pile of treasures, until they found a few ring-like items.
With a frown, Juin mumbled, “How would we know which is the Soul Transference Ring?”
Luca thought about it for a while. “We can test it out?”
“Do you know what the ring can do?” Juin asked with a brow raised.
“Err…” Luca looked away and coughed slightly. “Soul transfer?”
“Transfer into where?” Juin asked again. The smirk on his face was clear that he meant to challenge Luca’s intelligence. That guy always acted like he was the most intelligent being, so seeing him fl.u.s.tered was kind of fun.
And Luca knew what he was doing. He flicked one of the rings at Juin and snapped, “If you are so smart, why don’t you tell me?”
“I’m not smart all,” Juin admitted with a blank expression after catching the ring. “I ranked last five in class most of the time.”
Because there was no shame on his face at all, Luca did not know how to retort to him.
