The Demon Kings Cowardly Vessel - Chapter 304
“Crown Prince Warrick?” Juin repeated the name. “Ouch!” he suddenly exclaimed and dropped the ring.
“What happened?” Wolfe asked in concern as he reached over and picked up the ring.
“It… zapped me,” Juin mumbled as he rubbed his palm. Opening his palm, he could see a burned mark on the middle of it. He rubbed his palm on his pants and reached over to take the ring back from Wolfe. “Let me test something…”
Holding the ring in his palm, he said to it, “Crown Prince Warrick sent us here… Urgh!”
This time, he did not drop the ring. His palm hurt, but it was not unbearable. Opening it, he could see a slight glow being emanated by the red gem on the ring. “I knew it…”
“What?” Wolfe asked curiously.
“I think something is living in here…” Juin told them his theory. “And if I’m not wrong, it’s someone who is related to Crown Prince Warrick. Ouch!”
Putting the ring down, he looked up at Lucifer, who had floated next to him and was looking at the ring as well. “What do you think?”
His action caught Wolfe by surprise. Exchanging glances with Luca, he then scooted toward the latter slightly and asked in a whisper, “Please tell me that he’s talking to his little demon instead of a ghost…”
“I think that’s the demon…” Luca said uncertainly. With Juin, he could not tell for sure. After all, they weren’t even friends. At most, they were acquaintances forced to be in the same group for their own benefits. “Let’s just watch him for now…” he said. He glanced over at Eranos, and true enough, Eranos’ gaze wasn’t on Juin. Instead, it was a few inches to Juin’s left.
Lucifer thought for a while before saying, “Soul Transference Ring…”
He then nodded and said, “You can hear it, Eranos could hear it as well. I think this has something to do with your ability to see ghosts.”
“Then why can Eranos hear it?”
Lucifer thought about it before looking at Eranos. “Many Leaf Giants sacrificed themselves to keep you alive for such a long time, right?”
Eranos nodded. “That’s right.”
“Then perhaps you have gained a passive soul-related ability…” Lucifer said with a frown.
“You can gain an ability like that?” Juin asked.
“Why do you think so many cultures on your beloved Earth used to sacrifice humans?” Lucifer scoffed. “They were tricked by supernatural creatures who wanted new abilities without the need of hunting for fresh blood themselves.”
He folded his arms and sat in midair as he continued, “Your ability to see the dead comes from… you yourself. But that tree guy’s ability comes from the fact that many lives were sacrificed for him. That explains why he can see me.”
He glanced at Eranos and said, “But if I’m not wrong, you can’t really see my whole form, can you?”
“No,” Eranos admitted. “But I know you are there.”
To him, Lucifer was a dark presence. Or to be precise, a semi-solid dark silhoutte.
Hearing Eranos’ words, Lucifer nodded and looked back at Juin. “It’s obvious that your ability is stronger. I don’t think that tree guy can see dead people, so his ability to connect with souls should be quite weak. Hence he was unable to use this ring properly. Maybe you should try to connect with the thing inside.”
“What do you think it is?” Juin asked. “What if it’s a dangerous presence?”
Lucifer humphed and looked down at Juin literally. “Whatever that is, that’s just a soul. You are the physical being, and you’re not just any human. I’m inside of you, so if that thing dares to cause mayhem, I will destroy it.”
Juin sighed and nodded. “You’re right. But… How do I connect with it?”
“That is…” Lucifer frowned. He had no idea how to do this either. “Try to force your power in and see if you can break whatever seal is there… There should be one, if no one else can put in their soul power.”
Juin raised a brow and said, “Are you sure that’s feasible?”
“In any case, the worst that can happen is the thing inside the ring dies. You will be fine,” Lucifer said with a nonchalant wave.
“That’s the wrong way…” Hades’ voice appeared in Juin’s mind again. “Good thing I woke up a few seconds earlier. Who the f*ck taught him?”
Without waiting for Juin, he then said, “I’ll teach you the way to connect with the soul. There’s no time, so listen carefully. You are part of me, so this should be easy for you to learn.”
Juin nodded. He did not tell Lucifer about this exchange.
He closed his eyes and pretended to get ready. It took him a while, but he eventually managed to “break” the seal. It wasn’t actually breaking. It was more like he crossed through the “seal” and went face-to-face with the soul living inside the ring.
Hades’ method was easier than Lucifer’s method. Instead of forcefully breaking through the seal, Hades taught him how to use his innate ability and directly appear to the soul inside…
“Soul Transference…” Juin thought as a frown appeared on his face.
…
When Juin opened his eyes, he was already inside the ring. Not in the physical sense. He managed to transfer a part of his consciousness into the ring. If t
And the first thing he saw was an old bearded man. There were markings on his hands and sides of his necks similar to those that all Atlanteans had. However, the markings on his body changed between violet and red.
“Someone’s here…” The old man suddenly opened his eyes and stared at Juin intensely. “Who are you, and how did you get in here?”
Juin was taken aback by the man’s bright blue eyes. For some reason, those eyes of his reminded him of someone, and he blurted the person’s name out subconsciously, “Crown Prince Warrick?”
Whoosh!
The man moved so fast that Juin did not even see it. In less than a quarter of a second, he was right in front of Juin and had lifted Juin off the floor. “Who are you?!” the man hissed as he exuded a powerful blast of aura to intimidate the foreign presence that was Juin. “How do you know the name of my son?!”
There was a startled expression on Juin’s face as he looked at the old man and gasped, “Son?!”
