The Demon Kings Cowardly Vessel - Chapter 309
“I… I…” Upon seeing the sword, Wolfe’s brown eyes shifted, turning sharper like those of a raging wolf, and the brown was completely replaced by crimson red. His sight was getting blurry again, and he could have sworn he saw those flying black creatures around Lucifer as well.
But those things appeared and disappeared with every blink of the eye, making him wonder if he had finally gone crazy.
He quickly shook his head to get his mind back in place, and his eyes soon recovered back to normal human eyes. “What’s going on now…” he mumbled to himself as he held the sides of his head with his hands. “Why do I keep feeling this…”
He looked at the sword in Lucifer’s hand, and unknown images popped up in his mind.
“Stop it! Stop it!” he g.r.o.a.n.e.d.
“Hey…” Luca looked at him. Wolfe’s body was starting to transform again. Black fur was coming out of his pores on his arms. “Wolfe! Stop that!” Luca yelled as he shook the guy.
Wolfe turned to Luca sharply. With blood-red eyes, he said in a guttural tone, “Die!”
Luca immediately jumped back. “Wolfe, wake up! Get to your senses!” he yelled.
Wolfe suddenly howled.
“Awwwooooo!!!!”
…
“Huh…” Lucifer felt the sword in his hand tremor slightly. “What’s wrong?”
However, he did not have time to think too much into it, for a sharp wooden saber 30 meters in length was cut toward him.
When he jumped to the side to dodge the attack, the wooden saber cut past where he was and landed on the ground, cutting a 10-meter deep trench in the ground.
“Tsk!” Lucifer snickered as he landed on the wooden saber and ran toward Eranos at the end of it with his sword lifted high.
Eranos could feel the killing intent coming from Lucifer, and he quickly cast another spell. A green diagram appeared above his hands that were grabbing onto the hilt of the saber, upon which vines came out from the sides of the wooden sword and tried to make a grab for Lucifer, who was running and dodging the vines.
About 5 meters away from Eranos, Lucifer swung the Sword of the Daemon King. One of the rumors about the sword was true; that the sword had the power to strengthen one’s power.
“That’s the power of the sword?!” Luca, who had been watching over Wolfe, suddenly turned over to look at the battle scene. When he saw Lucifer brandishing the sword, he was shocked. How could the Order miss it when they did the preliminary testing on it? “Could it be that the sword actually chose Juin as his owner?” Luca mumbled to himself as he watched the surroundings get engulfed in flames.
That was the only explanation that he could get.
The tester was a high-ranking member of the Order. There was no way that the tester could have missed such a powerful weapon, not unless the weapon had the ability to choose who to reveal its true power to.
Luca looked down. The just-restored scenery was now completely covered in flames and ashes, and from far away, he could see the animals running away deep into the forest to avoid the flames that were edging in.
It was a good thing that he took Wolfe and flew up in midair, or they would have been burnt by the intense flames as well.
“Luca… Death…” Wolfe growled all of a sudden.
“Wolfe, you need to control yourself,” Luca said with a frown. Wolfe was more animal than human at this point. His body was covered with black fur, and his claws were fully extended. His eyes had turned red, and his canine teeth were sharp and long, coming out of his mouth.
“Retsam… Retsam…” Wolfe growled as he hugged himself. His eyes were on the Sword of the Daemon King, and despite his attempt at controlling himself, he let out a few more howls.
“AWWWOOOOOO!!!!”
“Sh*t!” Lucifer gripped the sword tightly. For a split moment, the sword nearly flew out of his hand. He then glared at Wolfe for a brief second before looking back at Eranos. “Stop avoiding!”
“You can’t last any longer…”
“Oh yeah?” Lucifer took a few pills out from Juin’s pocket, which he had told Juin to take out earlier, and swallowed them. In a few seconds, his weakening aura was strengthened once again.
“What did you just take?”
“Something to help me beat the sh*t out of you, you damn tree!” Lucifer made a cut on his palm with the sword. When his blood dripped onto the sword, the power within the sword was further strengthened. However, the blood that was red when it first came out from the cut, turned darker and darker, and when it traveled down to the tip of the sword, it was completely black.
Foreign letters appeared on the black blade that was stained by the sword. Lucifer could feel the power that the sword was exuding, and he laughed as a maniac expression appeared on his face.
…
“Huh…” Luca, who had been watching from afar, thought he saw a different face on “Juin” for a split second. It was the face of a handsome, rugged, but much older man. He quickly blinked, and “Juin” was back to himself; at the very least, he looked like the Juin he knew, making Luca think that his mind might have started playing with him.
“Retsam… Retsam…” Wolfe continued to mumble incoherently as he stared at “Juin”.
Lucifer stabbed the sword into the ground, upon which, an explosion occurred at the point of impact.
“Soul Consumption!” Lucifer roared. Like an angry dragon, black flames and burning ashes traveled toward Eranos!
“You will die if I die!” Eranos warned as he quickly took leaps backward. He could feel the danger in the dark flames that were heading toward him.
“Not if I consume you!” Lucifer smirked.
Soul Consumption was a unique power of the sword, and Lucifer learned of this from the Book of the Daemon King. The reason why the Sword of the Daemon King was able to enhance the strength of its user was because of the millions of souls that were trapped within it.
Those souls that Eranos could see were all ancient souls from various dimensions that had been trapped by the sword. He had a feeling that once trapped, he would be unable to leave the sword forever.
“Ok, enough!” Eranos yelled as the black flames came for him. No, he wasn’t even sure that he could call them as black flames. The “flames” were menacing souls, and with his ability, he could see those black hands crawling, climbing, doing whatever they could to get to him. He was their food, and they were the predator. “Urgh, that’s gross!” he yelled as he jumped away from the “flames”.
But no matter where he jumped, the flames would not stop. Even when he was in midair, like a dragon, the black flames would follow him up into midair. “I surrender!!!”
“Surrender?” Lucifer laughed. “You have long past the stage of surrendering!”
