The Demon Kings Cowardly Vessel - Chapter 313
When Juin woke up, he was unable to move his body at all. He felt ache and fatigue all over his body. He did not have the energy to even say something, and only after much difficulties that he managed to turn his head slightly to the side.
And the sight that he saw was a little baffling.
Wolfe was nearby, crouching on the ground to his right, drawing circles on the ground like a petulant child while mumbling something inaudible.
Luca was a little further away, sitting cross-legged with his eyes closed. He seemed to be meditating, yet the frown on his face did not suggest the peaceful expression of a person who was meditating.
Instead, he seemed to be in some sort of pain as he grasped his left palm with his right hand.
‘What’s wrong with him now?’ Juin thought. Luca was barely involved in the fight earlier.
He then saw Luca opening his eyes, glaring at something not far away from him. Following the latter’s gaze, Juin then saw that, a few meters in front of Luca, the blade of the Sword of the Daemon King was stabbed deep into the ground.
As if the blade itself contained an unimaginable poison that leaked out into its surroundings, poisoning both living and dead things, the dirt and sand around it had completely turned dark.
At that moment, Juin had a rough idea of what had happened, and he thought to himself, ‘For all your intelligence, do you really think that those demons inside me would just leave the sword unprotected?’
However, that was unimportant. If Luca was in pain, it meant that he was still alive. And since Wolfe was ignoring him, it also meant that it was probably not a life-threatening thing for Luca.
What was baffling was happening elsewhere…
Juin turned his head to the other side and stared at Eranos for a long time. It seemed that when he was unconscious, Eranos had reverted back to normal. The guy was sitting on the floor, cross-legged, with frown lines that seemed to have permanently etched on his forehead. His crown was far away from him, having been flung off during the battle earlier.
The last thing Juin recalled was Eranos and Lucifer fighting it out, and how Lucifer was about to kill the guy. He had absolutely no idea what happened when Hades took over.
‘So, that guy managed to stop Lucifer?’ Juin thought as he looked at Eranos, who did not seem worse than before. He thought that Hades would have done more than Lucifer. Hades might not kill Eranos, but Juin had a feeling that he wouldn’t mind cutting off a person’s limb or even limbs for fun.
‘Nope, all limbs are there…’
To see Eranos sitting there, pouting despite being alive was a bit weird. After all, he was practically unscathed other than a few scratches that he got from Lucifer.
‘He could have been happier, right?’ Juin thought with a sigh. ‘I have to promise Hades a favor just to save his life, so why is he so unhappy now?’
That was when he finally noticed the black flaming bars around him. The flames were quite peculiar. They looked like they could burn through anything, yet he could barely sense the heat coming from them despite being quite close to the bars.
“Gross…” Juin mumbled. Even though he sounded squeaky, he was surprised that he could still blurt out something, especially since he could barely feel his muscles.
The moment he spoke, the black flaming bars disappeared one by one, alerting everyone that something had changed.
They all then turned to look at Juin in unison, who was lying on his back with his eyes wide open.
“Hey…” Juin said weakly.
Wolfe immediately went over to him and asked, “How are you feeling now?”
“P-Practically… disabled,” Juin said slowly. “A-and… thir- thirsty.”
Wolfe immediately searched through their bags, and when they found a container with water, he helped Juin up and slowly poured the freshwater into his mouth. “Better?” he asked after a while.
Juin nodded. “What happened?”
Eranos got up and slowly walked toward Juin. When he was near where the flaming bars were earlier, he raised his hand and moved it around before clearing his throat and walked past the invisible barrier.
Juin noticed a burnt mark on Eranos’ palm and figured that the reason the King of the Leaf Giants was so hesitant was due to an experience of being burned by the black flaming bars that sought to imprison him.
Luca and Wolfe were on alert when Eranos walked toward Juin, but the guy merely crouched down on one knee and placed a pill against Juin’s lips. “Take this…”
Juin glanced at the pill that was glowing in a bright green. “That’s…” He gulped. Green was always one of the poisonous colors in novels and mangas, so he was quite hesitant to take it. Besides, given how Lucifer whacked the guy into almost tearing up earlier, should he eat what the guy was giving him?
As if knowing what was on Juin’s mind, Eranos sighed and said, “It’s not poison. This is to replenish your soul power and to rebuild your cells.”
“Like our Soul Rejuvenation Pill?” Wolfe asked as he took a sniff. He then looked at Juin and said, “It’s fine.”
“I don’t know if it’s the same as yours,” Eranos said, “but whenever we transform into giants and back, our body cells go through a lot in the process, and when our cells are overused, we will be in the same situation as you. Completely debilitated. This pill is created to fix that problem, and this is the best type of all, one that’s reserved for the best warriors and members of the royal family.”
