The Demon Kings Cowardly Vessel - Chapter 316
It was a very fleeting feeling, not even more than half a second, and it was so subtle that no one else could feel it.
Except for the three of them.
They all sensed it at the same time. The feeling was like when a person sat in the dark alone, but the hair at the back of their neck suddenly stood on its end, and a chill that came from deep within their soul sent them shivering, and they just knew that someone, or something, had their eyes on them.
“You… feel that?” Lucifer asked, still staring in the direction. That uneasy feeling was gone, but he could not tear his eyes away. It was the first time he felt that way.
“I…” Juin nodded as he rubbed the raised bumps on his arm uneasily. “What’s that?”
Lucifer frowned and shrugged. He then looked at Juin and said, “Maybe it’s just some animals…”
“Really?” Juin rolled his eyes, but his expression clearly said “stop taking me as a fool”.
“You want to go and find out?” Lucifer asked with a brow raised and pointed in the direction they were staring in. “Be my guest.”
He then glanced at Eranos, who is still looking at the two boys standing in the mound of treasure with undisguised contempt, and said, “That guy didn’t realize it. Whoever that was, he was looking right at us, and he managed to keep his aura from being detected by others… And I don’t think he’s looking at us from this dimension.”
“Not from…” Juin’s eyes widened. “That’s possible…?”
“Everything’s possible…” Lucifer said as he rubbed his chin. “Of course, the number of people who could do it is probably less than 10… Unless… The Deus…”
“What’s Deus?”
“Who are the Deus, you mean…” For the first time in his life, his voice trembled a little as he said, “We call them Deus, but in your world, I believe they are equivalent to the celestial beings… or gods.”
“Gods…?” Juin gasped. “So, not only are there demons and monsters, but there are gods as well…”
Lucifer nodded. “When you get stronger, you find a way to be push out of your boundaries, jumping from dimensions to dimensions… But what happens when you are already the strongest?”
“You become a god when you are the strongest?” Juin thought about it for a second before adding, “There must be a lot of gods then, given how you guys like to fight to be the strongest.”
“No, but you would be able to go to the highest dimension of all, The Celestial World. It’s not an easy step to take, and there are lots of restrictions and tests. But they have their own rankings there, but to us, they are all gods.”
Juin’s eyes nearly popped out of his eyes as he gasped, “But why are they watching us? I mean, I have gotten stronger and all, but I don’t think I’m that strong to gain their attention.”
“Don’t flatter yourself…” Lucifer scoffed. “If anything, they were probably looking at me. Anyway, maybe it’s just a curious god who wants to take a peek at this lower dimension. After all, those in the Celestial World rarely bother themselves with our business. It’s like how you occasionally look down at an ant or a bug out of curiosity, but you don’t really care much about their lives.”
The analogy made sense. Why would the highest beings of all the worlds look at them? They were probably ants, or worse, dust, in the eyes of these high and mighty beings.
But Juin had a nagging feeling. Why them, of all people? If they were normal, he would have dismissed it as nothing. But this feeling came after he took Eranos’ pill and felt an increase in his strength.
“Juin!” Wolfe suddenly called Juin upon noticing that Juin’s gaze was elsewhere, pulling Juin out of his thoughts. “Hey, what are you looking at?” he yelled, waving his hand that had a few new shiny rings on hard. A green necklace was now on his neck.
Juin looked at Wolfe and thought he and Luca both looked ridiculous, but he still waved back. He glanced back at the direction where he felt the gaze earlier and decided to let this matter slide for now.
After all, he could think about it, but everything would only be speculation. Whoever that was, if that person’s target was indeed him, then Juin was sure that the moment the time was right, that person would show up in front of him.
He gave a quick glance to Lucifer and said, “I better go and stop them before they rob Eranos blind… He’s already kind enough to send us back, especially after what you did to him.”
He jogged towards the rest, but halfway there, he turned to look at Lucifer and asked, “This is Eranos’ world and his Soul Dimension… But how come he looked so weak when he was fighting with you? The owner of the Soul Dimension is always the strongest in it, right?”
Lucifer’s eyes widened slightly.
Juin did not wait for his answer and just turned back before running towards Wolfe and Luca.
There was no need for words. They both knew that Eranos did not go all out, but whether it was to protect his homeland or if he was suicidal.
…
Soon, it was time for them to leave.
“It has been nice meeting you, Your Majesty Eranos,” Juin said with a smile as he shook Eranos’ hand.
“Likewise. You can call me Eranos.”
“Cool!” Wolfe smirked. He did a cute wave with a hand that had three glittering rings and said happily, “Thanks for the gifts, Eranos.”
“You!” Eranos narrowed his eyes at Luca and Wolfe. “It’s Your Majesty Eranos for you two shameless brats!”
He then took a deep breath. His eyes glowed in green as a human-sized diagram appeared next to him. A few seconds later, it burst out in a soft green glow, and a human-sized portal stood next to him.
Eranos then made a pulling sign with his right hand, upon which a thick and long vine hand grew out of the ground.
He then looked at the boys and said, “Once you are back in the other world, take care of yourself.”
He then sent the vine hand towards Wolfe. The hand wrapped itself around Wolfe’s body before pulling him towards the portal. “Thanks, Your Majesty,” Wolfe said with a grateful grin. “We won’t forget about you.”
Eranos gave him a deadpan expression. “Go.”
He then sent him out. A while later, the vine hand returned and grabbed Luca.
“Thank you,” was all that Luca said before being sent out.
When it was Juin’s turn…
“Will we see you again?” Juin asked as he touched the ring that King Alphose was trapped in inside his pant pocket. Eranos did not say no to Juin’s request to take the ring, and he even offered a few more treasures to Juin despite Juin’s reluctance to take them.
Eranos looked at him. He thought about Juin’s question for a while before saying, “I don’t know about those two… But I have a feeling that you and I will meet again in the future.”
