The Demon Kings Cowardly Vessel - Chapter 322
“I think we are far enough,” Lucifer said before pivoting around to face Juin. He then snapped his fingers, upon which a protective shield appeared around their only spectator: a little fairy.
“Yik!” the little fairy yelped when it found itself trapped inside an orb again. The last time it was trapped inside an orb, it lost all contact with its family, and the day it was woken up and released, it was ordered to heal someone at the expense of its own life. So yeah, it was terrified that this time, it might lose its soul, the last reminder that it was still alive.
“Yik…” it cried as it pushed its face against the orb pleadingly. It had been playing dead by itself out of boredom when it saw Juin and Lucifer flying towards a direction, so it secretly followed them instead of staying near Hades. And now, it felt stupid for following them around.
“Don’t be scared, that’s just to protect you from harm,” Lucifer said nonchalantly upon sensing the fear that the fairy released subconsciously. He then looked at Juin and said, “We are far enough now, so you can use your full strength.”
Juin nodded. He closed his eyes, and in a split second, a black aura seeped out of his body. At first, the aura was translucent, but it soon got darker and darker, until it formed a sharp contrast to the all-white surroundings. When he opened his eyes again, tiny blue arcs moved within the black aura.
“Ready!” Juin yelled as the black aura started to turn violent, moving about as if it were being moved by wind. Unknown to the two of them, some of the tiny blue arcs turned to golden arcs while some turned to red arcs.
Only the fairy who was sitting inside the orb saw it from high above, but it ignored it since it did not seem that very important.
“Great!” Lucifer immediately released his blackish-red aura as hundreds of diagrams appeared around him, following which, an equal amount of yellow Soul Fireballs popped out from within the ground and floated up until they were all around him.
“Wings of the Fallen!” Lucifer murmured as a huge golden diagram appeared behind him.
The Soul Fireballs then gathered around closely, forming the shape of the golden diagram, before elongating and expanding until they turned into a pair of golden wings behind Lucifer.
Juin’s eyes widened upon seeing the pair of majestic golden wings. He had never seen Lucifer use this skill before, and a feeling of awe rose in his heart as he looked at the daemon king who was rising into midair in front of him.
At the same time, a word appeared in his mind–Angel!
Yes, at the moment, Lucifer looked nothing like the demons in books. With his golden wings and charming grin, he looked more like a mischievous angel.
Noticing Juin’s gaze, Lucifer laughed haughtily as he spread the wings out. As he did so, snow-like gold dust seemed to fall off the pair of flaming golden wings with a wingspan of 30 meters.
“Hey…” Juin frowned. “That’s not fair, you have never taught me that.”
“I can’t teach you everything… You have to create your own spells.” Lucifer suddenly smirked and said, “But since you have been improving, I think we should up the training level this time…”
The golden pair of wings behind him suddenly burst out in a bright red light before the parts that were attached to Lucifer’s back turned red before spreading out until the entire pair of wings turned completely red.
At the same time, red arcs appeared in Lucifer’s black pupils.
“How do I look in my half-demon state?” Lucifer asked haughtily as he folded his arms.
“…” Juin’s eyes narrowed as he muttered, “I want to learn that… but first…”
He threw both his hands aside, upon which, a thousand Soul Fireballs appeared out of thin air around him. However, unlike Lucifer’s Soul Fireballs, these were in bright red flames.
“Daemon Flames?” Lucifer murmured as he looked at the fireballs, yet the strength in those fireballs told him that these weren’t made from daemon flames. He narrowed his eyes when he realized what they were.
‘The final stage… No way, he’s improving too fast!’ Lucifer thought to himself. ‘And what’s with that amount of Soul Fireballs?!’
Before he could figure it out, Juin had already launched the fireballs at him.
“Tsk!” Lucifer murmured as he flew up to avoid the fireballs, but he knew that it wouldn’t be as easy as that. And he was right. Those fireballs seemed to be like homing missiles as they chased him around. “Even so, these are nothing!” he yelled as he turned around abruptly, facing the fireballs with his wings fully spread out. The wings suddenly closed over him, protecting him from the onslaught of the thousands of Soul Fireballs.
It was fire on fire, and Juin watched on with a serious expression, secretly hoping that he could at least hurt Lucifer a little. After all, he had always been on the receiving end, and occasionally, seeing Lucifer take a beating wouldn’t be that bad.
Unfortunately for him, Lucifer was not that weak.
The Soul Fireballs that did not extinguish upon contact with Lucifer’s flaming wings continued to roll rapidly against the wings as if they were trying to bore holes into the wings. Within seconds, the wings were completely covered by the fireballs as they pushed him back several hundred meters.
However, Lucifer suddenly stopped moving backward, and a deafening roar could be heard before Juin sensed something was wrong.
The thousand Soul Fireballs, which were now stacked on each other, forming a few meters thick fiery wall, were pushed back when Lucifer suddenly pushed his wings out and spread them open in a split second.
The flaming red Soul Fireballs were shot back at Juin, who was unable to control them due to the speed as well as the amount.
“I definitely didn’t think this through!” he scolded himself as he tried his best to avoid the Soul Fireballs. Even if they wouldn’t hurt his soul, they would still hurt! Imagine getting hit by a baseball that was moving 105 mph! Now imagine getting hit by a thousand of them!
He quickly jumped to avoid a few of them before yelling out, “Enhanced Flame Shield!”
A flaming orb-like shield immediately appeared around him, protecting him from the fireballs, but he could still feel every hit on the shield, and just to maintain the integrity of the shield was taking a toll on him.
“Do you think that you can easily beat me just because you have gotten stronger?” Lucifer said with an infuriating smirk. His eyes glanced down at a spot on his arm, where there was a slight burn mark, but he quickly looked away before Juin could realize it.
What they did was extremely stupid and dangerous, given the state that they were both in at the moment, yet the more dangerous it was, the easier it was for them to learn, and they could learn faster too. After all, in the face of permanent death, if one took their time in learning, they would be gone before they even realized it.
“I-I…” Juin frowned in anger. He threw his right hand out, upon which a flaming bow appeared on it, and when he threw his left hand out, an arrow appeared on it.
However, before he could even put them together, he heard Lucifer say, “Calm down.”
