The Demon Kings Cowardly Vessel - Chapter 334
The guardian’s eyes glowed in yellow, and it was so bright that it seemed that everything else was shadowed by it. The flowers surrounding them turned violet, looking exactly like the ones that were scattered all over the island.
The flowers were then lined up while moving towards Juin. Juin immediately cast Daemon Flames at the flowers. Yet to his surprise, when the flames hit the flowers, they did not disperse. Instead, the flowers absorbed the flames and turned them into their own powers.
The burning violet flowers moved in a line, before splitting up into three.
“Flaming Blades!” Juin roared, sending out a few flaming blades to cut the flower ropes, but not only did he fail to cut the ropes, but
One of them attacked Juin, and when Juin was focused on dodging the attacks, the other two sn_a_k_e_d behind him. When Juin turned to block with a hand, Cecile was pulled away from him.
“Cecile!” Juin yelled and tried to catch the woman that was pulled away by one of the burning ropes. Before he could reach out to her, the other two burning ropes of flowers grabbed onto each of his wrists before snaking up on him and wrapping him up like a rope. Juin tried to burn them by using the Enhanced Flame Shield, but no matter how much he released, the flowers seemed able to absorb all the flames. “L-let… go…”
“Daemon flames?” The guardian laughed with a snort as they clenched their right fist, making the rope of flowers around Juin’s neck. “My daffodils aren’t that weak. Those you see outside might not harm you, but these…”
The person made Juin move towards them, and when he was right in front of the guardian, separated only by a thick layer of mist, the guardian reached out with a finger and tipped his chin up slightly as they said, “These can kill you like a bug.”
Then with a voice that sent chills down his spin, the person leaned forward and said, “Do not take my politeness for granted, boy.”
The person then snapped their fingers, upon which all the flowers disappeared, and Juin fell down on the floor, his blade falling a few meters away from him. He quickly crawled towards it, but before he could reach it, a red flower bloomed from the ground and ate it.
“No!”
He tried to grab the flower…
“Ouch!” he cried and pulled his trembling hand back. Looking down, his hand was bleeding badly.
The flower danced a little in front of him. Then the thorns on it were retrieved back before it jumped onto the person’s hand.
Juin watched as the person pulled the dagger out from the flower’s mouth before throwing the poor flower aside.
“Hmmm…” The person held the dagger in their hand. “Nightfall. How did you come upon this?”
“How do you know its name?”
The person ignored Juin and tried to release its soul power into the dagger, but they suddenly gasped softly. “Oh, there’s already a soul inside.”
“Soul?”
“A partial soul, just like me,” the person said. “I know the creator of this dagger…”
They then looked at Juin and said, “You gave out the same aura as that idiot… Weaker, but the underlying scent is similar. Who are you, kid?”
“I… I’m Juin, from Earth.”
“Earth?” The person floated down until they were standing on the ground. They then snapped their fingers, upon which the mist that had been hiding them disappeared slowly. When they completely disappeared, Juin could see the person clearly.
A woman with dark wavy hair that reached her waist appeared in Juin’s view. She wore a simple pastel pink tunic tied at the waist with a belt made from tiny flowers. Her lashes were thick and long, yet they did not hide the brilliant yellow eyes of hers. Flowers bloomed around her feet, and the same light smell permeated the air again, stronger this time.
“You… are a woman?” Juin had thought the mysterious person was a man because of the voice.
The woman raised a brow briefly before chuckling. In a much gentler voice, she said, “It throws people off… But back to our conversation. You’re from Earth?”
When Juin nodded, she frowned slightly. She then sniffed the air slightly before mumbling, “An Earthling with the same aura? Not only that, it’s light, but you have the same scent as her as well.”
“Her? Who is her?”
“Who are your parents, kid?”
“I’m an orphan, but my parents were normal humans.”
“If they are normal humans, then how did you get the demon soul?”
She then looked at Lucifer next to Juin. It was her first time acknowledging his presence.
Juin glanced at Lucifer briefly before looking at the woman. “It’s a long story, but I wasn’t born with him. We only somehow… got connected recently.”
The woman thought for a moment before asking, “Boy, did you see the souls on the island?”
Juin frowned upon remembering the feelings. He wanted to lie, but before he could say anything, he heard her cold voice saying, “Do not lie to me.”
Juin gulped and slowly nodded.
To his surprise, the woman laughed and suddenly pulled him into a hug. Just when Juin felt flabbergasted, she released him and reached her hand up to pat his head. She then twirled back while laughing, sounding like an angel at the moment.
“What’s wrong with her?” Cyrus whispered after he slowly got to Juin.
Juin shrugged and whispered, “No idea…”
The woman suddenly rushed back to him and smiled as she c_a_r_e_s_sed his face, completely ignoring Juin’s quickly reddening face. “Yeah… I’ve been here for countless millennia… I’ve forgotten about this face…”
“Err…” Juin was speechless. “We… have never met before, miss…”
“Miss?” The woman laughed again and released his face. “Yeah, you’re right. You and I have never met before.”
She then chuckled and nodded. “Hmmm… You will be someone great in the future…” She threw the dagger back to him and said, “Keep that safe. It will protect you.”
“Err… If you don’t mind me asking… You mentioned there’s a soul inside?”
“You can see souls yet you don’t know?” the woman asked. When Juin nodded, she explained, “There are some materials that could give an item the ability to store souls. This is a soul related weapon, right?”
Juin nodded.
“Seems like you don’t know much about it, so let me teach you something.” The woman cleared her throat and started pacing around as she said, “Nightfall is created by a soul power user. It has the power to hurt one’s soul, and it also has the power to cut one’s soul, separating it from the main soul.”
Juin looked at the dagger. “But why?”
“Many reasons. I’m part of the main soul. I was left here to protect an important artifact. Your dagger… It was the soul who won against the Stone Guardians, right?”
Juin nodded. “I wasn’t sure how it worked. It happened all of a sudden, without any warning.”
“The Stone Guardians are stronger than you, and the dagger could sense it. Hence, it took over your body without any warning.” Before Juin could say anything, the woman added, “You want to ask why the dagger can do so?”
Juin nodded.
“He was so smart, but why are you so dumb?”
Juin scratched his temple, wondering who she was talking about.
“You have activated the dagger, and the dagger has accepted you as its owner. Naturally, the soul within it would have access to your body, just like how you have access to the dagger.”
“Wouldn’t there be a backlash?”
“The soul in this dagger aims to protect, and it will only be activated when you are in danger.” She thought for a while before adding, “You can think of it as your subconscious calling upon the dagger to protect you. You might not be able to sense it, but the dagger could. Basically, you were the one who called the dagger to save you.”
Juin looked at the dagger. He then looked at Lucifer, who quickly turned his head away. With a sigh, Juin kept the dagger back in his Dimensional Pouch before looking at the woman. “Miss, what should I call you?”
“I have many names, but…” She smiled and said, “You can call me Little Goddess.”
