The Demon Kings Cowardly Vessel - Chapter 340
When Juin met up with Mr. Tucker, the man gave him a quick hug before going on an hour-long tirade of how irresponsible and reckless Juin was and how he nearly caused Wolfe and Luca to miss out on their final chance at the Battle. “You could have died in Atlantis, and we wouldn’t be able to collect your body, if there’s any left, until 5 years later! Have you ever thought of that?”
“Obviously thinking wasn’t his strong suit,” Cyrus said while riding on Mr. Tucker’s dragon.
The room had been cast a spell so that no one could hear their conversation. As such, there was nothing that could save Juin from the scolding. He stood there wincing occasionally whenever Mr. Tucker raised his voice.
“I had to spend days convincing her that Luca would be safe and would be back! Do you know how annoying it is to deal with a crying woman?!” Mr. Tucker continued in an annoyed tone as he scolded Juin.
Obviously, the woman he was talking about was Luca’s teacher, Lann.
“I have no idea what made the boy follow your footsteps, given how he usually hates you, but I’m glad that he went. Otherwise, there’s no way I would be able to see you again.”
“I could have made it back on my own…” Juin mumbled. “Besides, I was the reason why we managed to get back.”
“All you have is brute strength,” Mr. Tucker said before knocking him hard on the head.
Thud!
“Ouch!”
As Mr. Tucker went around his table and sat down, he said, “Without Luca there to force you to calm down and think more carefully, you would have just used your brute strength to win through every fight, wouldn’t you?”
“I…”
“It was a good thing that the giant you mentioned let you go in the end. And that mysterious flower woman as well…” Mr. Tucker mumbled as he stood up again. He then paced around, “It’s not exactly a rare power… No, wait! You said she was a fragment of a soul, yet she was still stronger than you… How many people could actually be stronger than you? As a soul nonetheless…”
“Unless…” He suddenly stopped in his tracks and frowned as he thought deeply about Juin’s narration of the flower woman, such as her looks, abilities, and personality. “No, it’s impossible…”
“What?” Juin looked at him with a curious gaze.
“She would have been thousands of years old, or even in the tens of thousands if she had survived until now…” Mr. Tucker said. A look of interest appeared in his eyes as he mumbled, “Little Goddess… Power to create flowers… Yes, that was her name…”
“Mr. Tucker?” Juin asked with a brow raised. Mr. Tucker was animated all of a sudden.
Mr. Tucker frowned and looked at Juin. He then went to his brown bookcase that was filled with old literature. He then waved a hand over it, upon which the books were replaced by books that carried mysterious auras with them.
“What are those, Mr. Tucker?” Juin asked as Tucker ran his fingers over the books slowly, as if he were unsure of which book he should use.
“I might be wrong… But I believe the woman you saw was Persephone.”
“Persephone?”
Tucker nodded and finally pulled out a purplish-black book with the word “Ancients” on it. “Or at least it was a fragment of her soul.”
“Who is Persephone?”
“To people from Earth, she was a goddess from a Greek myth. The Goddess of Spring and Nature. But to us, she was real; a legendary woman who existed in another world,” Mr. Tucker said as he signaled Juin to follow him back to the table. Cyrus and the dragon also came over to take a look. Even Lucifer came out of Juin and looked at the drawing in the book curiously.
Mr. Tucker quickly flipped through the book, and when he found the page that he was looking for, he stopped and pointed at the drawing of a beautiful woman with black, wavy hair and bright yellow eyes, which would have looked horrifying on others, but on her, it looked perfect.
“According to the legend that was passed down to us in the supernatural world, Persephone had passed away a long, long time ago. Yet you met a fragment of her soul. Does that mean she’s alive somewhere? Or could she be so powerful that a fragment of her soul managed to survive for so long by itself?”
While Tucker mumbled to himself, Juin stared at the drawing of the woman. Various flowers were drawn around here, which should be beautiful, but the images of skulls and dark mist surrounding her toned down the beauty of the picture. “How do you know it’s her?”
“You mentioned that she knew the creator of the dagger… It doesn’t seem like she knew the creator in passing, which meant that she was at least as old as the dagger… Those who can control the earth tend to have the ability to control flowers as well, but they are often mild in nature, prefering peace over mayhem. Their powers are often meant to defend themselves. Among them, those who use their earth ability to attack are rare…” Putting a finger down on Persephone’s photo, he continued, “And Persephone was the strongest ever recorded.”
Juin looked at the drawing of the black mist around Persephone, and he subconsciously reached out to trail the black mist. “Why was she drawn like this?”
Mr. Tucker looked at the black mist and skulls and said, “Because of her title. She has many title, one of them being Queen of the Underworld.”
Juin and Cyrus immediately looked up at him, with the latter asking, “But she’s so pretty! Even if she’s violent, she can’t possibly be given such a title, right?”
“It has nothing to do with her nature,” Mr. Tucker explained. “She was called that because according to legend, she was the wife of the King of the Underworld. And this black mist thing… It’s supposed to represent shadows, or souls. Which is also why I think Persephone was the woman you met. To leave a fragment of her soul behind, one with its own willpower, meant that she was able to manipulate souls to a certain extent, at the very least, she was able to manipulate her own soul. Someone had to have given her that power.”
“But there are a lot of people who could do that, right? There’s even a soul attached to my dagger.”
“Yes, but usually, these souls would have to be summoned or activated. Not only was she able to appear on her own will, she was able to make a decision of her own instead of following a path set for her.”
“What do you mean?” Cyrus asked in curiosity.
“The soul in Juin’s dagger came out when he was in danger and left when the danger was gone. The person who put the soul into the dagger probably meant to protect the owner of the dagger. This woman, Little Goddess, made an appearance of her own accord and stayed to chat with you guys. She even gave you a treasure just like that, without making you go through some sort of a challenge.”
A frown immediately appeared on Juin’s face, and he thought of what she said before, “If they are normal humans, then how did you get the demon soul?” and what he felt around her, and he could not help but think, ‘Is she related to me?’
