The Demon Kings Cowardly Vessel - Chapter 341
But he quickly dismissed it. After all, he had parents, even if they were dead. ‘She’s probably related to Hades and Lucifer.’
Yet Little Goddess’ words kept repeating themselves in his mind.
Mr. Tucker suddenly looked at Juin and Cyrus and asked with a stern expression, “Did you tell anyone about this?”
The boys both shook their heads, and Juin replied, “Other than me, only Cyrus and Cecile knew of her name. Luca and Wolfe only knew of her ability. Some of it anyway.”
Mr. Tucker nodded. “Good…”
“Is it a bad thing if Presley were to know of this?”
Mr. Tucker thought about it for a while before shaking his head. “I guess not. But I’m not too sure whether it would be a good thing either. She released you guys and was especially nice to you. It meant that she was fond of you. It just increases the mysteriousness of your existence and the danger to your life. Besides, you mentioned the man that orchestrated such a horrifying crime. She was afraid of him, or at least of what he might do to you. If news got out, he might know where to find you.”
“But Luca and Wolfe knew that I took the Devil’s Charm with me,” Juin said as he took out the Devil’s Charm from his Dimensional Pouch. The moment he took it out, a dark aura expanded out of the black ball, forming black flames.
Looking at the darkness of the black “sun”, Mr. Tucker frowned slightly. “You have to be careful whenever you take that out. Its aura is too easily noticeable.”
Juin nodded and quickly kept it back in his Dimensional Pouch.
“I think Wolfe’s smart enough to know the danger of it, but Luca… His dislike towards you might put you in danger…” Mr. Tucker sighed and said, “I will go and talk to his master. As long as she’s the one who puts down the request, he would follow it.”
Juin nodded.
“As for now, do not mention or reveal to anyone about the Devil’s Charm until we find out the true identity of that man,” Mr. Tucker said.
They talked for a while more before he sent Juin and Cyrus away. He then sat on the couch with the dragon resting on him.
“You know… I just remember something…” Mr. Tucker said. “The King of the Underworld… What’s his name again… Hades?”
The dragon nodded.
“Was he from your time?”
“Even older than you?” Mr. Tucker sighed. “That man was the strongest soul user… And now the fragmented soul of his wife took a liking to Juin, to the point of giving him such a valuable treasure. Was it just a coincidence that she met with Juin or is it fated?” Mr. Tucker mumbled to himself.
…
Two days later, Juin finally gave Mrs. Martin, Wesley, and Max a video call. Everyone was excited to see his new looks, and they kept commenting on his physical appearance.
While Juin wasn’t a vain person, he still could not help but feel happy when they showered him with praise.
“Boy, your growth spurt is really spooky,” Wesley said as he inched his face closer to the ŀȧptop.
“Stop pushing, Wesley,” Max frowned as she pushed him away slightly. She was at Mrs. Martin’s place so that they could all call Juin together. She then looked at Juin and asked, “Are you happy there, Juin? Is everything alright? Did you manage to make some friends? You know, I’m worried about you, being so far away from us. And you didn’t call for so long!”
“Oh,” Juin smiled awkwardly and said, “Sorry about that. Because I had a lot to catch up on, so I spent most of my time studying. I will try to call more often…”
“Well, as long as you are safe…” Mrs. Martin said.
“Yeah, Mrs. Martin was about to buy a flight over just to look for you!” Wesley said. “Luckily we are poor and don’t have the funds for unnecessary flight tickets!”
“Wesley!” Mrs. Martin reached over to catch him, but the boy had already jumped off the couch. She then sighed, but a smile remained on her face as she asked about Cyrus. “Is he settling down well there?”
Juin nodded. “He’s doing great…” Juin said as he lifted the iPad and brought it over to the bed where Cyrus was curled up at. “He had martial arts training earlier and was completely wiped out. I will tell him that you said hi.”
Looking at Cyrus who was sleeping with his arms and legs tucked underneath him, Wesley commented, “That kid… Not only did he behave like an animal, but he’s also sleeping like one as well.”
“Wesley!” Mrs. Martin snapped at him. She then sighed and said to Juin, “Wesley has been running his mouth often lately. I think he misses you.”
“Hmmm!” Wesley stuck his tongue out. He then stood behind Mrs. Martin and Max and said, “Guess what, Juin…”
“What?”
“Max and her boyfriend broke up!”
“Wesley!” Both Max and Mrs. Martin immediately stood up and surrounded Wesley. They both slapped Wesley at the back at the same time, causing the boy to groan and topple onto the couch.
“Ouch… That’s the truth!” Wesley complained as he rubbed his back.
“Err…” Juin looked at Max and asked, “When did this happen? How are you feeling now?”
“Not long after you left actually…” Max said with a slight blush on her face. She then took a deep breath, sighed, and continued, “He was acting like a jerk, so…”
“He beat her!” Wesley suddenly said. When Max glared at him, he added, “What? That’s the truth!”
“It was an accident,” Max said, looking back at Juin. “I didn’t like how he was talking about you, so I ended things with him… He wasn’t too happy about it and gave me a shove…”
“She had a broken arm…”
Juin frowned and the muscles on his arms bulged. “He hit you?”
“It was really an accident.”
“An accident that caused you a championship!” Wesley rolled his eyes. He then cracked his knuckles, “If I were a few centimeters taller, I would have beaten him up!”
Max sighed and rubbed his head fondly. She then looked at Juin and said, “Anyway, it’s over between me and him. And don’t worry too much about it.”
“She’s right,” Wesley said with a grin. “That guy got into an accident a few days later and broke his legs!”
“Oh, he did?!” Juin wanted to ask more, but in the end, something told him that Mr. Thompson might have something to do with this. Given Mr. Thompson’s true background and his love for his daughter, he wouldn’t have left the guy off that easily. “I’m glad that he got his retribution.”
“Anyway,” Max waved a hand nonchalantly and asked, “When are you coming back to visit us?”
Juin had a guilty look on his face. He hesitated for a while before putting on a fake smile and said, “Maybe not so fast. There’s a study camp coming up soon, and I have signed up for it.”
“Whaaaat?” Wesley pouted, but he understood when he saw Juin’s face. He knew that it was something related to Juin’s world. “Would we be seeing you again?”
“Wesley! Of course we would! He’s just going for a camp,” Mrs. Martin admonished the youngest in the house. “Really now, you are old enough to know what to say and whatnot.”
Juin smiled. He looked at Wesley with a confident expression. “You’re not getting rid of me that easily. I’ll come back as soon as I could.”
Max and Mrs. Martin looked at the both of them with a weird expression before shrugging in unison.
They chatted a bit more before Max suddenly said, “Oh yeah, Juin…”
“Yeah?”
“My dad wanted me to tell you that the person is doing well…”
Juin blinked for a few seconds before nodding. “Alright, help me thank Mr. Thompson please.”
“Who is he talking about?” Max asked with a curious expression. Before Juin could even think of a plausible answer, she raised a brow and said, “Since when did you get close to my dad?”
Juin shrugged. He smiled and said, “Anyway, I got to go now. My next lesson is starting.”
“It’s good that you are taking your studies seriously, Juin, but don’t forget to take care of yourself over there,” Mrs. Martin said, still as motherly as ever. “If things get hard, we are always here for you.”
Juin nodded gratefully. “Thanks…”
He then looked at Wesley and asked, “Remember what I told you before I left?”
“Of course!” Wesley said as he made a peace sign to subtly show Juin the leather bracelet that he left him.
Juin nodded, feeling glad that Wesley was still wearing the leather bracelet that he gave him. With Lucifer’s guidance, Juin had placed the strongest spell that he could cast into the leather bracelet. In the event that Wesley was in danger, all he had to do was to activate the spell, and a doppelganger version of Juin would be there to protect him. While it wasn’t the best, as the doppelganger would not be at the same strength level as Juin, but according to Lucifer, as long as Juin got stronger, the doppelganger would get stronger as well.
“Good… I will see you guys soon, Max, Wesley, Mrs. Martin…” Juin said before ending the call. He was thinking about something for a while when he finally realized that there was someone else in the room. Looking towards the door, he saw Saville Rochester leaning against the door with a smirk on his face. “I didn’t hear a knock… How long have you been eavesdropping?”
