The Demon Kings Cowardly Vessel - Chapter 342
Saville shrugged. “I feel sad for those three… Given your ability, you would probably end up dying not long after you arrive… Especially since you will be paired with that brat.”
There were thinly veiled looks of disgust and anger on his face.
Juin ignored him and closed the ŀȧptop. When he walked to the door with the intention to close it, Saville slammed a palm against the door, stopping the movement of the door. He then spat, “You just got lucky, to get into the first team. Without your little puppy over there, you would have lost!”
“Luck or not, I still beat your a*s with my own ability. I’d advise you to stop provoking me…”
“The three of you shouldn’t even be back! I hope Luca would stab you when you’re not looking,” Saville hissed, pulling his arm back. “Don’t think that I have been idled. You better watch out during the Battle.”
Juin glared at him, knowing clearly that this guy’s ego had turned him into a revengeful man.
“If you plan to sow discord between me and Luca, just stop it. I wouldn’t fall into your trap,” Juin said before using all his strength to close the door in Saville’s face. He then cast a spell to fully lock the door and prevent people from listening in.
BAM!
After a loud bang, no doubt caused by a fist, he could hear angry footsteps moving away from his room.
“It’s wet?” he mumbled as he looked at his palm. He then looked at the knob and the keyhole before sighing. “I guess element users can easily turn into burglars.”
“Well, he’s pretty smart,” Lucifer said as he appeared above Juin. “His power might come in handy during treasure hunts.”
“Come to think of it,” Juin sat down at his desk and mumbled, “I’d be in the first team with Luca and Wolfe. Wolfe is fine, but his strength is unpredictable, Luca is… Luca. Wait, Saville mentioned ‘those three’. Does he know who the last member is?”
Juin quickly texted Wolfe, but the latter knew nothing about it. However, a few minutes later, Wolfe texted back.
[My dad just told me that kid, Caelian Elysium, would be the fourth member.]
“Caelian?” Juin frowned.
He recalled the fight between Caelian and Saville and of what Lucifer told him, and he could not help but worry slightly about having Caelian on his team. “Is he a friend or foe?” Juin sighed. The fact that Caelian also had another soul in him made him unpredictable.
“The soul within him seems friendly…” Lucifer shrugged. “To me at least.”
“But we don’t what the demon wants…” Juin said. He then looked up at Lucifer and asked, “If you guys were in a fight, who would win?”
Lucifer thought about it for a long time before saying, “I actually can’t tell you that. Caelian’s body is different from yours.”
“What do you mean?”
“Whenever we merge, I’m still you, physically. However, at Atlantis, when the demon within Caelian merged with him, he turned into an ȧduŀt physically. This meant that the demon’s soul was able to physically benefit Caelian to a certain extent.” Lucifer thought about it for a while before saying, “If I’m not wrong, there has to be a blood connection between them.”
“Like a blood sacrifice?”
Lucifer shook his head. He subconsciously scratched his chin as he mumbled, “It has to be a stronger blood connection… Like a familial one.”
“You’re saying,” Juin’s eyes widened as he made the connection, “they are related.”
Lucifer gave him a nod. “Try and ask Wolfe if he knew anything about Caelian.”
Juin nodded and did as he was told. A few minutes later, Wolfe sent him a brief history of the Elysium family.
“As expected…” Lucifer said after Juin read out the message. “That demon is an incubus, whereas the Elysiums are descendants of incubus and suċċubus. I believe that the demon might be one of their ancestors. That’s why he could affect Caelian’s body physically.”
Juin frowned. “But why him? He forfeited. Shouldn’t Saville, who actually fought in the semi-finals, be the final member of the First Team?”
He wasn’t left guessing for long, because a few minutes later, he, along with Luca, was called to Presley’s office.
When they got there, Presley asked, “Can I presume that you boys have known the identity of the last member?”
Juin and Luca both nodded.
“My master just told me,” Luca said.
“Someone came into my room to throw a tantrum,” Juin said with a roll of his eyes. “I guess you talked to him earlier.”
“Ah…” Presley tapped the table with his fingers as he kept his eyes on the boys. “Yes, Saville. It was rather unfortunate, given his ability. After all, Caelian did sit out on the semi-final. We would have to choose between Augustine Sterling and Saville Rochester, but Augustine’s father forfeited the first place on his behalf.”
“Why?” Juin asked curiously. “Wolfe would be in the First Team, and they could look after each other.”
“Apparently, Roman had thought about this and felt that it would be best for Wolfe if his brother wasn’t in the same team as him. In his words, ‘I want that brat to grow’.” Presley shrugged and then added, “So that, by right, meant Saville should be the only contender for the final place. However, the Council had a last-minute meeting, and they wanted Caelian to be in the First Team.”
Luca thought about it and asked, “Is it because he’s the heir to Elysium Conglomerate?”
Not to mention Caelian Elysium’s parents were both high-ranking members of the Council.
“I wouldn’t say that there’s no connection, but given the fact that this year’s Battle has the most interesting rewards, the Council and I both agreed, after a prolonged discussion, that it would be best if the strongest members could be in the First Team. And since Caelian won against Saville, and given Saville’s animosity towards you and Juin, we felt that the young Elysium would be the better choice.”
“But we know nothing about Caelian Elysium,” Luca pointed it out.
“That’s true…” President Presley said with a sigh. “But the decision has been made, and as we speak, it is currently being announced to every member around the world.”
“Wait, even you guys don’t know anything about him?” Juin asked while looking at President Presley with a surprised expression.
“The Elysium family is one of the most prestigious families in the Order. And also one of the most mysterious families. They focus on business and building their wealth. You can say that they are the wealthiest family in the Order, and perhaps one of the richest on Earth. With their money, they have been sponsoring thousands of expeditions to other worlds, adding hundreds of unique and powerful weapons in their armory each year. In fact, they would be sponsoring the teams this year.”
“What’s the catch?” Luca asked. “What do they want from this?”
President Presley sat forward and looked at the boys with a stern expression. “You will keep Caelian Elysium safe at all costs.”
“What?” Both boys frowned, and Luca quickly added, “The Battle is a dangerous game to begin with, not to mention that this year, we are going to unchartered territory. If they are so afraid of their little boy getting hurt, why not just keep him at home?”
“Because Caelian’s growing older,” President Presley said, “And more demanding.”
He then stood up and snapped his fingers, upon which two files moved from his table to his hand. As he handed the files to both boys, he said, “These are the profiles of the participants for this year. Study them. You don’t have much time left, so I expect you boys to know everything by heart.”
Juin did a quick flip through, and when he saw the Nakamura family’s list of members, he frowned. “The twins are not in the same group?”
“If you are talking about Taka and Mika Nakamura, it seems that their father has decided not to put them in the same team.”
Juin read the profiles of those in the first Nakamura team, and after a while, he frowned and looked up at Juin. “Who is Akuma Nakamura?”
