The Devil’s Sleeping Beauty - Chapter 243: My Youth (2)
“Aren’t you suppose to be studying in another country?” Lu Weichun asked. She was sitting in front of Han Yehan who was busy eating his food.
He paused from eating as he gave her a reply, “My father allowed me to study here. I need to learn about the world.” He answered back without even looking at her. He didn’t have to tell her the real reason why he’s in the mainland.
“Are you here because of Mengmeng too? She’s your brother’s fiance, right?” Lu Weichun grinned, she was curious about what kind of love story they have after all.
Han Yehan furrowed his brows when he heard what she said, “She is not his fiance anymore.”
She blinked a few times in confusion, disappointment was also seen in her eyes. “She’s not?”
“Her father was against their engagement and gege don’t have feelings for her so breaking their engagement is good… At least that was what he told me.”
Lu Weichun pouted as she looked at the emotionless boy in front of her. “He doesn’t love her?”
“Yes.”
“But I thought that he’s close to her?”
“He said that she is only like a sister.”
Lu Weichun scoffed, “Like a sister?” As if she would believe such an excuse. “Don’t tell me that he’s afraid of her father?”
This time, he turned his gaze at her, raising a brow at her remark, “I’m not him so how should I know?”
“I’m done.” Lu Xingyan who was quiet the whole time finally said as she stood up, carrying the tray. “I’m heading to the library.”
“I’m coming with you.” Han Yehan followed as he stood up and carried his tray as well. He didn’t want to stay with her older twin since she will only bombar him with questions.
Lu Weichun looked back and forth from her younger twin then to Han Yehan. A knowing smile crept up on her lips, “Sure, sure, go ahead. I almost forgot that both of you actually have the same love when it comes to books. Hope you’ll share that love with each other~”
Lu Xingyan knew what her sister meant but she decided to ignore it. She has other important things to do and besides, Han Yehan is not her type.
…
Lu Xingyan was looking at a book, turning pages after pages, searching for something.
“What are looking for?” Han Yehan curiously asked as he turned to look at her sketchbook. He blinked a few times upon seeing how detailed her drawing was, “Isn’t this a cipher machine?”
“Cipher machine?” She was obviously clueless about it that was why she was trying to search for what kind of machine it was.
“Yes. I think you’re looking into a wrong book.” He walked away and went towards the bookshelf, scanning for something, and when he found it, he returned to her. “This one.”
The side of her lips turned up as she gave him a smile, “Thank you.”
It really was a good thing to have a bookworm like him with her.
“They’re used during world war two. Why are you interested in such kind of machine?”
It will be weird if she told him that it was because of her dream, right?
“I saw it once in my dad’s collection so I got curious.” She said as an excuse. “So it’s used during world war two huh?”
Was she having a dream about world war two then? But… It didn’t look like she was in a war. In fact, there were no soldiers around, even the killer wasn’t wearing any soldier uniform.
“If you want to know more about it, I think you should read books about cryptography instead.” He suggested.
She turned her gaze at Han Yehan. He seemed to know more about these things than her.
She turned the page of the sketchbook and showed him a logo. It was a symbol of the skull and bones.
“This one looks like a sign in a pirate’s flag, right?”
“Yes…” He trailed off. He gazed at the sketch for a while. He saw that logo somewhere, he just couldn’t remember where and when.
“That’s a really good one.” A voice behind them startled the two.
Lu Xingyan and Han Yehan turned only to see a man that looked like he was already in his thirties. His hair was a bit messy and he was wearing glasses.
He cupped his chin while looking at the sketch, “Who drew this?”
“Um… Me?” Lu Xingyan replied, raising her hand a bit.
The man grabbed her hand and grinned happily, “Are you a first-year student? Why don’t you join the art club? I’m the adviser of the club, my name is Qin Bai. You have talent, child. The way you drew this one is just so beautiful!”
Han Yehan: “…”
Lu Xingyan: “…”
“Mr. Qin, please lower down your voice. You’re at the library.” The librarian scolded.
“Oh, sorry sorry.” He let go of Lu Xingyan’s hand and scratch his nape as he apologized.
Mr. Qin? Wasn’t that the name of Lu Weichun’s homeroom teacher?
“So how about it? Why don’t you join the art club?”
“Teacher Qin, Lu Xingyan is a transferee.” Han Yehan sighed.
“Eh? Transferee?” He blinked a few times. “Wait a minute… Are you Lu Weichun’s sister?”
“Yes, I am.”
“Oh wow. She said that her twin sister is also here, I didn’t think that it’s you. You don’t look alike at all.” He laughed lightly. “Well, there are twins who do not look alike but this is my first time seeing one, it’s actually amazing.”
Lu Xingyan didn’t know what to say. The teacher kept on talking that she was not able to read the book Han Yehan suggested.
They were only saved from Qin Bai when they heard the bell rang.
“Let’s go, Xingyan, we still have to attend the next class.”
“Yes… I’ll just check this out.”
“Ah, sorry for wasting your time.” He smiled apologetically. “But think about it, okay? Lu Xingyan?”
“Yes… I will.” She wasn’t planning on joining any clubs since she wanted to do her own research. She never promised that she will join so she can just reject him in the future, right?
