The Devil’s Sleeping Beauty - Chapter 254: First time
Lu Weichun was more aware of the pounding of her head than the layer of dehydrated saliva that coated her lips. Once on her feet, the room swayed almost causing her to lose balance. Almost.
“Please, Weichun, you have to listen to me.” Fan Jingli said, ignoring Lu Xingyan’s remark. As long as Lu Weichun would listen, it was all that mattered.
She could feel her insides tear, and the blood drained from her face. He said that he loved her and she took him at his word. Then one sunny day, under a cloudless sky, she saw him, who was about to leave the motel, flirting with someone else. It would have been kinder to kill her. Now she must be this person filled with a bitterness she couldn’t control. The girl he met years ago under that apple blossom tree, the one with the big eyes and the bigger heart was now consumed by a hatred she never knew could take root. But here it was. Here they were. The hate didn’t ebb, it multiplied.
She balled her hands into fists, clenching tightly as the look of betrayal was replaced by a cold grimace. She tried her best not to cry hard, she tried her best to harden her heart from the pain.
“What’s the meaning of this Fan Jingli?” The girl beside him asked, raising a brow. She was confused about what was happening, she didn’t know that Lu Weichun was his girlfriend.
Fan Jingli looked so troubled. He never thought that he would be caught in between two girls.
Lu Xingyan was quick to catch up on things that she smirked at the girl, “Didn’t you know? My sister here, Lu Weichun is Fan Jingli’s girlfriend.”
“What? That’s impossible! I’m his girlfriend.” The girl argued back.
“His girlfriend?” Lu Weichun finally spoke up. She took out the phone, tapped the screen, and showed her gallery, surprising the other girl. Lu Weichun turned her blank eyes to the guy she once trusted and scoffed, “Tell me, Fan Jingli, how many girlfriends do you have?” How many women has he told that he loved them? That they were his soulmate?
Fan Jingli couldn’t give her an answer, he stood there as if he was frozen.
A loud slap was followed next. No, it didn’t come from Lu Weichun but from the Fan Jingli’s other girlfriend. It gained the attention of the people in the lobby.
Lu Weichun further embarrassed the guy by slapping him next. After doing so, she turned away and left them there, being so awfully quiet.
Lu Xingyan and Han Yehan followed her out of the building.
“Are you happy now?” Lu Weichun asked as she stopped in her tracks and looked at her sister. Tears forming in her eyes. “You got what you wanted now.” She turned away and began running away, heading to their apartment’s direction.
“Jiejie, wait!” Lu Xingyan quickly went to follow her, leaving Han Yehan behind, watching them run.
…
Lu Xingyan followed her sister to the Park that was near the apartment they were staying in. Since it was in the middle of the day, no one was seen there, except Lu Weichun.
“Wait!” Lu Xingyan grabbed her wrist, stopping her sister.
The elder twin stopped, her head down and her shoulders sunken and trembling a bit as she cried and sobbed.
“Jiejie…” Lu Xingyan was already expecting this but seeing her sister this way was hard. She didn’t regret exposing Fan Jingli’s affair. It was better now than later. They were still young- in fact, they were still in high school and they still have so many years ahead of them. But right now, she knew that her sister needed her, she needed to have someone by her side to get through this.
Fan Jingli might have been playing around but Lu Xingyan knew that her sister’s feelings for him were real. It was such a painful thing but she was going to help her sister get through her agony.
She pulled her sister into her arms, giving her a hug, the comfort she needed.
“I-I should have listened to you…” Lu Weichun stuttered, burying her face on her sister’s shoulder.
Lu Xingyan patted her back gently, not saying a word. Sometimes, the best comfort was not saying anything but be by that person’s side instead.
Her sister didn’t need a piece of advice, or any scolding. She didn’t need to hear anything that could only dishearten her any further.
“I-I’m so sorry Xingyan…” She sobbed hardly.
“It’s okay…” She replied in a whispering tone. One day, Lu Xingyan knew that her sister will meet someone better, someone, who would see her sister’s worth. Someone that Lu Xingyan wasn’t going to worry about. For now, they shouldn’t rush their love.
She knew that her sister was the impatient and yet the curious type when it came to love. The feeling of being loved by someone was something her sister desired after seeing other couples be happy.
Lu Xingyan pulled away from the big just so she could see her sister’s face.
Lu Weichun’s eyes were red and puffy, her face was wet with tears. It was such a heart-wrenching sight for the younger twin. She has never seen her sister cry this hard even when they were young. She was always the cheerful, brave twin that brought smiles to others, including herself.
She touched her sister’s cheeks with both hands just so she could wipe her tears with her palms. “You don’t look pretty when you cry like this you know.”
“I-I don’t care…” She stammered. Her tears kept flowing endlessly as if the dam in her broke.
“Come on now, a guy like him? He doesn’t deserve your tears.” Lu Xingyan said as she continued to try and comfort her sister.
She pouted and sniffled, “T-this will be… the first and last time I’ll cry for that bastard…”
The side of Lu Xingyan’s lips curled up into a small smile, “Do you want to know something unbelievable right now?” She asked, trying to distract her sister from Fan Jingli.
“What?”
“We actually skipped classes today. For the first time.”
