The Divine Wolf.. Or? - Chapter 182
Since the nearest town was rather close, Thufrat didn’t really need to ride on Ark’s back at all, making that entire discussion quite pointless. Though the town was rather small, they managed to find a rather suitable steed for Thufrat there, before they set off for their journey once more. The steed they had chosen was a type of horse that made use of lightning magic to increase its speed tremendously, and Ark had to use some of his mana to be able to keep up at all.
Naturally, the same could be said for the horse, as well as Ephine. Since Atar didn’t really use magic much and had an abnormally strong body, he was able to keep up even without using magic, which helped Ark in getting a perspective of just how strong this little fellow had gotten. The reason Ark was so strong was obviously because of his strong mana, whilst Atar didn’t use it at all.
The horse, albeit fast, didn’t have the best of stamina, and after about 3 hours of running at breakneck speed, it started to get tired. Since they had a long way to go, and they wouldn’t get far with a worn-out horse, they decided to take a small break. On their 3-hour long journey, they had already run past over 5 different parties of adventurers or travellers. Some of them could feel the presence of 3 wolves running in the forest beside them, but since they never attacked, there wasn’t a problem so far.
Like this, the 4 of them kept travelling for the entire day, only taking breaks every three hours to eat some snacks and restore some energy. Before long, more than 5 days had passed, and they had arrived in a large city. Since they had been travelling for 5 entire days already, they decided to rest for a day in the city, to invigourate themselves a little, they still had a long way to go after all. Although nothing eventful happened in the city, both Ephine and Atar were in great moods since they had gotten to explore quite a bit the day before. With nothing else to do, they soon left once more.
In the blink of an eye, almost 20 days had already passed. They kept taking breaks at large cities they passed, and Atar and Ephine had grown to like the life in the cities a lot, not only that, but they had also grown more accustomed to how humans lived and acted, which made it easier for them to blend in. They had also managed to pass the border of Geotopia about 3 days ago, and they would probably arrive at their destination in just a few hours.
Although they didn’t care about it too much at the beginning, both Atar and Ephine were actually really excited about living in this city that Ark had chosen in the future. Ever since they arrived in Geotopia, they had been met with beautiful scenery wherever they met, and compared to other countries they had passed through, it seemed pretty peaceful here. Thufrat was also in a good mood, although this place wasn’t as good as Liverence, which he had visited before, it was still really nice here.
And the reason why they had decided to not choose Liverence was naturally that there were no suitable dungeons in the vicinity, so they had to give up on the idea. A few hours later, they could all see large walls entering their sights in the horizon, and they all naturally grew excited! They were finally here! The city that Ark had chosen was called Moonhill, it was a rather big city that wasn’t that far from the capital. The name originated from the dungeon that they were going to visit nearby, the Moonlit Caves.
The walls of the city were a little different compared to what Ark was used to, as they weren’t made out of steel, rock or some sort of wood. Instead, they were built out of some kind of mineral that Ark had never seen before. The mineral seemed to glow with a green light, and it was imbued with extraordinary power. If he had to guess, Ark speculated that this wall was super expensive. But since the city was very prosperous, money wasn’t a problem compared to the importance of safety for its inhabitants. Seeing this impressive wall, Ark wondered if he had underestimated the cost of property here…
What he didn’t know though, was that he had actually underestimated the amount of money he had with him. Only a single platinum coin was something that could sustain the life of a family for ages, yet he actually walked around with 700 of them. If that wasn’t enough for property in the city, then who could ever afford to live here…
The process of entering the city was quite simple, as they had done it plenty of times before. The only thing they needed to do now was to buy a house as fast as possible since their time was limited. After asking for directions, they quickly found their way to a real estate office, which they promptly entered. It was a bit of an awkward encounter, since none of them had ever done something like this before, but the lady who worked there was quite skilled at her job, and they were soon able to pick out a few properties that suited them.
Ark was able to get a grasp on just how much money they had through this encounter as well, since none of the properties they had picked out cost more than 250 platinum coins. The lady that worked there was glad that she had been extra attentive to these customers, as it seemed like they were quite loaded. And if she managed to sell such expensive property, her commission would surely be pretty nice.
Usually, they would send someone else to let the customers tour the properties, but since this was such a big deal, she decided that it was for the better if she did it herself, since she was confident in her abilities. Ark just wanted everything to be fast, since their time was limited, and he had some other things he wanted to do as well. On his request, the lady kept the tours brief as she explained the good points about each property, and they soon made their decision after viewing each one. The lady was surprised by their decisiveness, but if anything, it only made her happy since she managed to sell a property worth 190 platinum coins!
