The Dream Saga - Chapter 103

“Wake up! Wake up! ”

“Your grace please wake up!!!”

“Please wake up!!!”

Rose was yelling so loud in the morning, today she was acting so weird she was shouting like her life was on the line, if she didn’t wake me up. But I was still sleepy. So, I ignored her shouting because how long could one shout, eventually she will leave me alone. But she kept shaking me and yelling at me.

“Hey! Wait, he’s okay, right !! He didn’t died in his bed or something?” She had a weird thought that I died in sleep, and she went insane…

“MY LORD! WAKE UP!!! PLEASE!!!” She began to cry and yell really hard as she would bring me back from the doors of death.

“He’s not responding what should I do? Yes! That will do.” I did not understand what was going in the little brain of hers at that moment, she stopped shouting and ran away somewhere and after a minute she came back.

“Huff! Huff!”

“It was really heavy, but I guess it’s needed. I hope he wakes up after this, but what will I do if he didn’t” She took a whiff of relief after carrying something heavy. She was nervous and her forehead was covered in sweat, full of worry.

The next thing which happened was either intentional, based on feelings of grave hatred like slaying someone’s entire race or foolish.

She poured a bucket full of hot water on my bare back. As the first drop of the water splashed on the surface of my skin, I felt as if someone poured hot liquified metal. My sleep was faded in just a second, I was wide awake now. I screamed so loud that it attracted the attention of the guards who were close by.

In the very little time, I understood deep meanings of things such as how those people might have felt when the leviathan had roasted them with hellfire. How the potato we eat everyday feels when we drop those innocents into hot oil every morning. How the marshmallow feels when we roast it.

“ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE ??” I was shocked and freaked out by what she did to wake me up. My eyes were flaming red I wanted to eat her alive.

“Sorry!! Your grace!! I did not want to hurt you, it’s I thought you died in your sleep ahh!” she stuttered and sat in a corner in order to protect herself from my anger. She was literally scared, she was crying and her face was so hilarious that it made me laugh.

“Hey, why made you do that ?” I was calm now. I was cooling my back with some ice when I asked her.

“Y-your g-grace, I thought you died, and you were not responding I thought you died in sleep.” She stuttered and replied.

“You better not do it again, girl. It hurts. Thank goodness, my skin is getting healed because of reptile traits.”

“But why were you so eager to wake me up? Huh? Today’s something special?”

“Well, about that today is…” As she spoke, someone knocked on the door hard.

“Come in, are you planning to break the door!”

The person on the other end was Lee. He entered the room in a hurry and first one he saw was Rose. Without greeting or anything, he asked her, “Where is Kai? Is he ready? We are already late according to the schedule!”

I was sitting on my bed in my pajamas, I waved at him when he asked for me with a cute child greeting his dear momma in morning. But when he saw me in my pajamas, he went crazy real quick.

“KAI! WHAT IN THE FUCKING HELL!! WHAT ARE YOU WEARING ??” His tone changed. He yelled at me so loud that I jumped back a little on my bed in shock.

“What happened? What’s wrong with my clothes, I love these. Are you talking about my bunny printed vest?” I looked at him with a jolly smile.

“Huh! What? Bunny vest? Eww that looks weird man!! Wait, fuck, we are losing time”

“Why aren’t you dressed, yet?” He ran and grabbed my hand and dragged me into the dressing room.

“Huh, what happened why both of you are in a hurry?” I asked him when he took my outfit out of the closet.

“Rose, you didn’t wake him up on time. Why? You know today is an important day.” He strictly asked Rose.

“M-Master Lee, I tried to wake him up. I even poured boiling water on him!”

“Yeah, she did it, she’s bad…” I nagged

“Well, she did right. You deserved it

for forgetting what is today,” He scolded me while buttoning up my shirt. I really had no idea what was today that they were so worried for, to be honest, I was lost in dreams of Ecirel and my kiss from last night.

“You’re ready now, Let’s hurry!!”

He dragged me out of the room in haste. When I was about to leave with Lee, Rose wished me good luck and I did not for what, they didn’t even tell me why I had to be ready.

While walking in the gallery, I looked at him. He was walking too fast today, I was barely able to catch up with him like a brat being dragged to his study , he was worried sick and was watching at his wrist watch consistently that made me feel more ignorant, so I broke the silence and asked him the question that I should have asked him moments ago.

“Hey! Lee, you know what. How much I tried to remember what it is today,but I cannot! So please tell me.”

“As expected of you!”

“Do you remember why were we training so hard for past few weeks, and what date is it today?”

“Is it the 1st day of the month? Wait, don’t tell me today is the day!” I was shocked after remembering what day was today. I was so lost about my dream with Ecirel last night that I had no idea of the date.

“Finally, you remembered it now, what day is today now tell me kiddo ?”

“From today tournament will start !!!”

“What the fuck!!”

“THAT WAS AN INSANE STORY!!!”

I jumped from my chair after listening Tom’s story of how he is an impure devil such as me. I had no idea that this world was this much wicked and tragic.

“Are you okay?” I asked him.

“Yeah, why?”

“Man, you’re strong, stronger than everyone I have met. How do you feel, don’t you feel sad, about whatever you had to go through, that your own dad tried to kill you?”

“Um, well what do I say, anything I would say will be awkward!”

“I guess I don’t hate my father for what he did. I do not blame him for everything I had to go through, because I have just heard the stories. Imagine the pain he had to be with for the last twenty years. He had no one by his side to tell him it’s okay.”

Tom was so calm and personified, he was sincere. He was not like the other devils he was responsible. Maybe because the way he had to walk through since he was a kid made him strong.

“I wish I could be like you. I admire you, Tom.” I was so impressed and moved by Tom’s story I wanted to be like him. I wished if I too can forget about my past and cleanse my mind.

“Well Kai, it’s not like I was like this from the start. At first, I hated my father for leaving me with someone I didn’t knew about. I wished that he’d die a terrible death. I wished he live a life full of sorrow for leaving me and trying to kill. But the older I got, the more I learned, I realized something,” He explained me calmly, with a soothing smile on his face. He radiated a light and beautiful aura, unlike a dark aura like me or Lee.

“You realized what?”

“Huh, oh sorry I spaced out, I realized, there’re problems everywhere and my father was not a hero he’s just a normal person with flaws just like everyone. I know he tried his best to keep me safe and unhurt.” While telling about all this crystal tears, filled his eyes.

“Hey, I know it’s okay Tom, it’s okay. Cry all you want brother, it helps” I hugged and patted on his back to console him as he was crying now.

“Ahh, no, I’m okay these are just sweat in my eyes I don’t cry, ha-ha” He wiped his tears and fake smiled to hide his weaker side from me.

“You never told this to anyone else? why?” I asked him softly.

“No, because no one was there to listen. I lived alone in a remote palace. I never had any friend or family with whom I could talk, you’re the first one. You sensed same positivity from you so I felt I could be comfortable with you.”

“Hey, you have a friend now. Me, I will be your friend whenever you need I will be there for you, Tom”

“Thank you, Kai, thanks for just saying this.”

“Ah, I hugged you way too much don’t get any wrong ideas alright! I’m not…” as he spoke, Kai interrupted him.

“Hey! I have a question?”

“Question? What it is?”

“Um, well how did you know about the witch and succubus part if your uncle Belphegor never knew about it and your father never told you about it right!”

“Oh, well, it’s a nice one. Well, I got to knew about most of it by my uncle but the witch part, it was different, I have been created with the blood of the succubus and the witch’s magic, I guess their magic left something inside me, time to time I get flashes of the past of how everything happened. Parts of my mother and my father’s memory and the past life of the succubus too.”

“Hmm, I’m afraid of witches now. I wish I never have to cross paths with one” I laughed with a feared look on my face.

“Tom, you’re representing Beelzebub household right, so it means you’re the heir of your kingdom! So, after this tournament you will go back to your home for the first time, right?”

“It depends!”

“Depends on what, it’s already been eighteen years so you can go back and inherit your throne now, right?”

“Ha-ha, only if it would be this easy. There another heir of Beelzebub kingdom! He’s son of the second queen”

“But, you’re the elder son, you should be the crown prince?”

“After my mother’s death, the second queen became the most powerful queen in the entire kingdom, and one night she drugged the king and that night they conceived another son, that what uncle Belphegor told me, and he’s a good, an ideal prince whom the whole kingdom loves and here I am nobody even knows about me.”

“So, if it’s all so messed up, how did you get here in the tournament, the kingdom would have sent the second prince as their representative. Why did they send you?”

“Hey, why do I feel you want him instead of me here, anyway my father stood for me he said this in front of the whole kingdom ‘Don’t forget this kingdom has another prince who is abroad for his education, if someone has to represent the kingdom it should be the elder son!’ many people stood against this decision but he did not took the decision back.”

“The day before I arrived here. I got a scroll about the participation in the tournament it was written by the king himself. There was a message from him, ‘Dear son, I’m sorry for whatever you have to go through because of me. I want you as my crown prince, but the council of lord is against of it, I’m appointing you as the representative of the kingdom, I want you to win it, so everyone in this crooked kingdom can acknowledge you my son, your father.’ I felt as he was sorry and he was weak and was chained by the other lords of the kingdom.”

“Woah, that’s a big story you told me right now. I wish you best and I hope you can inherit the throne, but I can’t let you win the tournament.”

“Ha-ha, I never expected you to go soft. I hope you give me a tough competition because I don’t like to win against a weaker opponent”

“Let’s see you tomorrow at the battleground Rival.”

“I’m looking forward to whoop your ass partner!”

The two devils were looking forward to the tournament they had tomorrow. They were charged, adrenaline was rushing in their veins and only fate knew what future they had tomorrow.
