The Dream Saga - Chapter 81

The body parts of the zombie were flying as shrapnel in the air after it exploded. Some of it flew toward me too and to protect myself from them I braced myself with my arms crossed facing toward it, but something weird happened; I didn’t get hit with any of it.

“Huh! Kai? What’s that on your arm?” Lee, who just slayed the zombie, turned and gave me a weird look with a question.

“What? What’s on my arm! Huh! Holy crap!! What’s this!!” I saw something unusual on my arms that looked like a gauntlet. I was shocked because I had no idea how I got them.

“Lee! This some kind of gauntlet! But did it come from? Look, it even has some engraving on it.” I called Lee out of curiosity, who was standing just a meter far from me.

“Hmm! I see this seems like a part of an armor or something. Give me your hand, let me take a closer look!” He pulled my hand and began to examine it with all focus.

“Hmm, it’s a familiar metal work.. I have seen it in some book I guess, let’s see what’s written here, G-a-r-e d-e-v-i-l-o hmm galedevilo, it’s an ancient language I know a little of it but if I join the alphabet of the word galedevilo only meaningful thing it’ll form is ‘gray devil’ huh! Wait,” he was connecting points to points to figure out what this gauntlet was, when he acted as he found something unique related to it.

“WHAT DID YOU FOUND SOMETHING?” I shouted loudly as a curious kid who is helping his parent in some interesting stuff.

“YES, I found out what this is. I know where it came from.” he looked at me with eyes full of answers and faith.

“It’s a devil gauntlet. It was created when the serpents and devils got united. It’s transferred to every leviathan king at a time. I guess it arrives when a devil reaches a certain level. And it’s a powerful gauntlet with many mysterious powers. The Ouroboros received one that day too. But it is made up of silver while yours is made up of platinum.”

He literally knew about it, and the facts he was telling me felt good. For a moment I felt as I am the hero who is here to slaughter zombie.

“By the way, Lee, what is this called? I mean, it must have a name!”

“Um, it’s called the gray devil gauntlet, it can be used as a defense and offens- huh, something is approaching us!” he was telling me something and suddenly he picked some strange aura coming at them.

“I guess it’s the zombies! I better get ready to use this gauntlet.” I was pumped and was ready to unleash my rage, but I sensed that the zombies who were approaching us were not high in numbers.

“Why do I feel their number reduced to half this time?” Lee spoke in a questioning tone.

“Yeah, I feel the same. Let’s see, here they come! Huh what-,” me and Lee were talking and finally we got to see the first zombie. What we saw was unexpected.

In front of us, ten of enormous zombies were marching toward us and they were bigger than the one Lee just killed. It worried me while, on the other hand, I saw a vile smile on Lee’s face. It was weird to see him this jolly.

“Let’s go and give them the taste of devil metal!!!” He smirked and charged at them, running with his sword in the air; I followed him with my brand-new gauntlet.

“BOOM!”

I moved quickly and pounced with a tough punch in the zombie’s gut. The hit was amazing. It made a hole in his abdomen and the part where I attacked turned black as it got poisoned.

“Woah! Lee, did you see it!” I excitedly called Lee, who was on the other end.

“Yeah, Kai, I felt the shock waves, but right now I am kind of busy. I will listen to you later.” He replied while grunting.

Hearing his grunting, grabbed my attention, I turned and found him in a bad condition; he was standing in the mouth of a zombie while trying to get out by using his legs. He was consistently piercing his sword, but nothing was working.

“Hold on Lee! I am coming wait a little!”

I rushed toward him but suddenly a zombie dragged me from the behind and bashed me on the road, following him two other zombies cornered me. It was impossible to reach Lee without killing them.

“LEE! HOLD ON A LITTLE LONGER!!” I screamed

Now both of us were in a terrible situation, but still we were fighting.

“You guys think you can stop me! Well, no! I don’t think so. Let’s see how will you handle this!” I was annoyed enough, and I wanted to end this quick.

“POWERBOMB!” I chanted the spell that I used a lot to stun devils and if, in front of this, these mere zombies were nothing.

“BOOOM!”

As I thought the blast was powerful; the entire area got covered in smoke. I felt I defeated them, but as the smoke cleared, the zombies stood there without much damage. Watching them not being hurt too much made me lose my mind.

In the middle of this, a zombie approached me out of nowhere and tackled me from the behind; the attack was hard enough to push me to the ground. I was exhausted because I just fought for a big tournament before being teleported.

“Fuck! I need to get up quick as I can!” It didn’t take me long to get a knack for my state. I yelled so loud while trying to stand up, as I was already out of energy. But still failed to stand. And this was the moment I knew I’d either cry for help or I’d die a hero.

Far ahead, Lee, who was still standing cross-legged in a zombie mouth, heard my scream. He turned back to look out for me, even though he was in a tight spot.

“Kai! Are you alright!!!” he yelled from up there while stabbing the zombie in various spots.

Watching him care for me melted my heart, but I was not in a situation to worry about that.

“Yeah, I am fine, just a few seconds away from being eaten. I guess it’d be fun when these zombies will tear my body parts. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! FOR FUCK DO I LOOK ALRIGHT!!! HELP ME!” I was being sarcastic for no reason to the man who was supposed to help me.

“Wait a minute, I will come to you! Wait till I kill this son of a bitch,” he said in a calm voice as we were playing some game.

“Lee!!! What the hell! I don’t have a fucking minute! Help me, brother! Use your Ouroboros powers!”

“Oh yeah, but it consumes too much of mana!!” He nagged as I asked his kidney.

“Lee, they’re coming close. It won’t be long when they will consume me!” by now I was scared as hell and was desperately calling for help.

“WOOOSHH!”

Suddenly, a big blast of light emerged from the place where Lee stood. In the very moment, I heard a slashing sound as someone attached a blade to a chainsaw, which is cutting stuff with precision and beauty.

As the light faded, I saw Lee, who was spinning like a fidget spinner. The zombie who was trying to eat him just a few second ago was now reduced to pieces. He even killed a few of the other zombies who stood around him. Watching him so badass made me remember our first meeting.

And now it was show time. He began to head toward me. The zombies who were attacking me changed the target from me to him.

Both of them ran to beat shit out of each other, but it was obvious that the zombies stood no chance against Lee’s true demon form.

“Slash!”

A slight flash of light happened. where they stood and the next thing I saw was Lee standing past them. He sheathed his sword and, as the sword made the sound of being sheathed, all the zombies’ bodies were divided into two parts.

“What the hell happened here! Is it some anime!” I was amazed. I was speechless.

“Woah Lee! This is you! You’re so cool man!!!” I was making bridges out of his praises, because this few second showdown was better than the whole devil tournament.

“Kai, you’re fine? Ah-” He smiled a little and suddenly collapsed in my lap.

“You fine? Are you okay? Are you out of mana? I see, let’s go somewhere safe and replenish our health!” I patted his back and took me on my back and was about to move, but suddenly I heard something which I wished I didn’t.

“HUH! what was that sound!” I heard more zombie noises and when I looked up what I saw was terrible we were surrounded by every possible angle.
