The Dream Saga - Chapter 82
I took Lee on my back and somehow began to walk, but as I made my first step, I heard some screeching noises which was bad news; the zombies were near and to check it. I raised my head. What I saw was terrible. We were surrounded by countless of zombies.
“What the hell!!!!” wherever I looked, I saw zombies. It felt like the whole planet zombies were gathered.
It was a terrible view. I never expected this, not even in my dream. Watching the huge number filled my heart with fear because I knew it was the end for me and Lee.
I who was barely able to walk and Lee who sucked all his mana out to save me was helpless. There was no other way to run. I sat on my knees.. I was ready to die. I had no major regrets, only few things…
“I got no chance to say goodbye to Skyler, Sabir, Rose, or Tom. They all will still live their life normally, but with one annoying thing less. I wish I had kissed Ecirel a little longer. I wish I could have met my father again… but anyway, the one thing I had under my control was my last expression. I didn’t want to die without a smile on my face.” I thought about all the things that were left incomplete in my life.
My eyes were full of tears that were dropping on Lee’s face. I looked at the zombies proudly and smiled brightly.
“Come on! Make it quick!!!” I yelled at the zombies who were standing at the end of the road.
As they heard my scream, all of them started their dead walk toward me and after a few minutes they were so close that I was able to hear their breath. Their breath was bad, but all I smelled was death.
I closed my eyes in fear and suddenly something unexpected happened…
“BANG!!! BANG!!! BANG!!!”
“GUNSHOTS?”
I heard gunshots, a very unexpected thing, gunshots something was happening, but I was too scared to open my eyes but somehow, I gathered courage to open my eyes, and the scene in front of me was splendid! All the zombies around me were dead. And in front of me stood a tall, hot and muscular woman with short hairs.
“Bitch! You crying? Take my hand cry baby! We are leaving!!!” she spoke to me and even though it was mean, I felt as she was spreading love and peace.
She grabbed my waist and pulled out a grappler gun and zipped us to a building quickly. She was strong she pulled two grown men without much effort. She was a badass, but who was she? And why was she helping me?
We were on a balcony now. She pulled her grappling rope and reloaded her guns. I was looking at her constantly without blinking an eye as I found a god or something as she reloaded her gun; she moved forward, ignoring my face; she stopped at the gate entrance and turned back at me. And spoke in a low voice.
“Follow me!”
Her voice had a feeling of security that instantly led me to believe her. Without a second thought, I followed her as a young kid follows his mother. Lee was still unconscious and without knowledge of what was happening around him, but he was my friend, so I took responsibility for him.
“Yes ma’am”
I pulled Lee and followed her lead inside. As I entered the building, what I witnessed was wonderful. Hundred of other people were there, it was like a sanctuary. I walked through them. Their faces were full of despair and trauma. Every look was telling a story, which was horrible. Some of them were lying half dead while some were sitting there without any limbs. All of them were giving me and Lee a weird look as we were wearing expensive outfit and were not much harmed.
“Who are these people?” I was shocked. I asked the woman who saved me.
She slightly turned back and replied with a sad look on her face,
“People. People of this area.”
“Huh! they’re less than hundred!”
“Yeah! It is because this is the only people that are left behind in the area, there are different kinds of them roaming around and we don’t even know all of them only things that are effective against them are guns and explosives or else they don’t die. Scums!” her voice was full of hatred and sorrow. It felt as she was holding all these people together for a long time, but even the strongest weakens at a point.
While we talked, we arrived inside a room that was huge. It was full of boards with locations and research related things pinned on it. Everything was a mess there. I rested Lee on the couch in the room and massaged my shoulder a little.
“Anyway, welcome to the refugee center of the city of Louisiana.”
She sat in her seat on the other side of the table. And nodded me to take a seat as well. I was amazed and confused regarding many things such as what a terrible state this world was and the confusing part was if this was the same world such as mine just is in a future or is it a completely different world.
“Well, I am Jill Valentina. What’s your name?”
“Um, I am Kai, and this is my friend Lee and one of the lords in my domain!”
“Lord? What do you mean, a lord? You’re a king or something?” she slightly smiled as she thought as I was kidding but it was partially my fault for telling her that.
“Well, never mind! By the way! What actually happened here?” I couldn’t hold my curiosity from asking a question.
Her eyes lowered in sorrow. I felt as I made a mistake; I felt childish, but the damage was already done,
“It was five years ago when humans were experimenting on dead pigs and humans children when something went wrong and led a zombie infection outbreak, millions of people died in the outbreak and we couldn’t do anything. People were starving, children were catching other diseases, it was a state of chaos. Most people were dead and the one who were left were brought to these refugee centers. If I have to say it clear, it was a battle for survival of fittest and humans lost the war!”
“I feel sorry for you, I hope your conditions get better”
“Huh?” she made a face and looked at me as I was weird.
“What happened? Did I say something wrong?”
“Aren’t you human too? Why are you talking like you are from another world or something! And why don’t you know about anything about this? Were you living under a rock?” she started questioning me and as she was questioning, I realized how dumb I was acting and how hostile I was sounding.
“Oh no, no it’s not like this!” I got a bit nervous and in response to that she pulled guns at me.
“IDENTIFY YOURSELF!” She yelled at me, and it was loud enough to wake Lee up.
“Huh! where am I? what’s happening? Huh.”
“Hey calm down, I will explain everything! Settle down chill!” I somehow calmed her down, and now it was my turn to explain.
“Okay, but I warn you, don’t get shocked. So, to be honest, we are not from this world. And we got teleported here by a door that connects all the parallel worlds and now it’s broken so we got here.”
“What do you mean? You’re not from this world? What is this parallel world? I don’t understand anything?” She was confused and was not accepting it, but it was quite normal for anyone to act like that.
“Well, I was human too. I lived on earth and I got caught in this incident and was teleported into a fantasy world. I am a devil king Leviathan and he’s my best friend and a lord in my domain, Lee Ouroboros. He knows nothing about it, too. He got here by mistake,”
“What the hell, do you take me for a fool! I don’t believe you,” she lashed out, and it was expected.
“I knew it. You won’t believe me, but I can show you we are telling you truth. Here look closely ‘summon’ here you go.” I chanted a spell to make her believe I am a devil. I summoned a serpent, so it’d be easier for her to understand.
“What the hell, it’s impossible!!! I can’t believe my eyes. It’s outstanding, I see this justifies thousand of zombie bodies outside.”
“Hey, you can help me with your powers! I have a job for you and in return I will help you with anything you ask!” she took a minute to let it sink in and came with an idea. Which was unexpected,
“Well, sure, but I want to know about it first.”
